Someone should keep their head covered while riding in the heat.........

stupid question
Flyinfool replied to lazy biker's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No need to remove the upper fairing. Surgical tubing might not be stiff enough. There is a plastic panel above the valve cover that can make it hard to get in there, The panel is not bolted in, it just snaps on top of the nuts that hold down the valve cover. It can be wiggled out and back in. Just look close and make sure you pay attention to how it fits and how it came out. -
They are already canceling fireworks on the 4th around here due to the dry. But since I am going to be on a bike trip there is rain in the horrorcast every day.....

First, Get a mirror and look down the hole to be sure there is not something there trying to fall into the cylinder and blocking the plug. Use a short length of gas line on the end of the plug to act as a handle to get it started. Look at the front on the other side to get an idea of the correct angle for the plug. And patience. and your new vocabulary........ If you didn't already, having the lower fairing off helps -
OK the global warming in the winter was kind of nice, BUT ENOUGH ALREADY. Bring back the :snow2: :snow2: :snow2:

It don't matter if I am going to stay at a 5 star hotel, I always have TP packed. Never know when you may quickly need it on the side of the road while in route after a bad burger. 8 more minutes till I'm outa here.

Stator Cover
Flyinfool replied to JohnMidnight's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I very thoroughly clean the braided cover of the wires with brake cleaner to get any oil out of the cloth, and the then massage in the black RTV on both sides. I also use the black RTV to seal all 4 sides of the rubber grommet. But I use the gasket sealant on the cover side so that if I do have to replace the gasket, it is a lot easier to clean old gasket from the cover than from the engine. Besides the RTV that I use around the wire grommet will make the gasket in that area want to stick to the cover anyhow. -
Another guy trying to steal my routine. I can do enough falling down for everyone here, you don't need to be trying to follow my act. Its gonna be a pressure cooker. Is that trout stream by the camping area big enough to fall into to cool off in? Just have to check for stream monsters first....... Friday http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/chancetstorms.gif Mostly cloudy in the morning, then partly cloudy. High of 90F. Winds less than 5 mph. Chance of rain 20%. Friday Night http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/nt_chancetstorms.gif Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain. Low of 68F. Winds less than 5 mph. Chance of rain 20%. Saturday http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/chancetstorms.gif Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain. High of 90F. Winds less than 5 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Saturday Night http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/nt_partlycloudy.gif Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain. Fog overnight. Low of 68F. Winds less than 5 mph. Sunday http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/chancetstorms.gif Clear in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain. High of 93F with a heat index of 102F. Winds from the South at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20%. So I get to ride INTO a hot headwind on the way there and INTO an even hotter headwind on the way home. Some rain might feel good. Looks Like I will need to leave early Sunday morning to try to beat the heat. One and a half more hours till I get off work and can start packing. If I don't melt in the process

Watching the news and seeing all of those homes burning I hope it is not any of our members homes, and that all of this VR family is still, and will remain safe. I did look and there are several current members in Colorado Springs. :fingers-crossed-emo :fingers-crossed-emo :fingers-crossed-emo :fingers-crossed-emo

Yup, what Squid said. There are 2 options on that page, the right one takes you to a page to either log in with facebook or to create a facebook page. I want nothing to do with facebook.

I never was good at following orders........

Don't forget the chocolate bars that they "need" just before they go home. Or the nice noisy toy that they "need" cuz mom would never get that for them. Grand kids are so much more fun.

At least you only hit the target, glad there was no pic of you sitting on the target.... It is so dry around here that the cities are canceling the fireworks.

So your not riding up to WI MD, Its cooler up nort. Only in the mid 90s with 70s dew point. But I will do my best to make it rain. I have relays and lights and stuff to install. I'm just goona take my time and planned the route with no longer than a 1 hour leg. Stops for food, gas, shade, drinks.

The best year was the one where they added fuel injection and took out the cassette deck. Oh wait that hasn't happened yet.....

Maybe you should have spent some time getting the dogs used to being in the box stationary before trying a ride. Work up to it in stages. Do the dogs like riding in the car? I was following a guy down the highway this week that had a German Shepard in the side car, the dog seemed quite happy about it. Lots of fresh air for power sniffing.

Loading the bike and trailer up tonight to head out Friday morning. I'll have 2 chairs. So you are saying you want me to pack the AC unit for my tent too? I might need a trailer behind the trailer. Like a mini road train. It is gonna be a hot one. I have planed my ride with the longest leg being the first one at 54.66 miles. So I'm a wuss with a delicate Looks like I should get there around noon Friday

I have been there standing outside in line when it was 20 below zero F. Had to eat fast so that the custard did not freeze solid. Nite Owl is pretty good to. Kopps works good in a pinch too.
-
Cool, see ya there. I have figured out the route I am taking, I plan to leave here between 7 and 8 Friday morning.

It is always possible that whatever junk was in there finally came out. Or it will be back to bad as soon as you get it home. Intermittent issues are the worst. If it does not act up while being tested the best you can do is to take a shot in the dark and hope for the best. Carb sync is/should be cheap, quick and easy to do. Valves out of adjustment will NOT cause an intermittent problem, and are not cheap, quick or easy to do.

It is obviously skewed. The Dairy state did not even get mentioned. There is a lot of great ice cream around here.

I went to wally world and could not find a gel pad in the store. I also can not find it in their online site. I thought someone mentioned a while back that they discontinued it.:confused24:
