  1. Was wondering when you'd drop in on this topic Bigfoot. Certainly glad it isn't you for sure. My thoughts on this is they'll compare the dna with known samples to rule out matches. What they'll do if all come back negative is a guess thou. Should be ineresting to see what the conclusions are. Larry
  2. http://www.ktvu.com/news/17174989/detail.html?taf=fran How about it? What's our Georgia residents have to say here? Real deal or fake? Larry
  3. Both will fit fine. I will disagree with Squidley thou. Sorry Bud. My reason is if both are to be installed then you can use the rack as a centering point. I suggest covering the lid with wide painters tape. Take measurements and find the center of the lid. Mark a line front to back. Place the rack on and after getting either front or rear mounting tabs centered mark the legs positions on the tape. I prefered mounting the rack forward enough that there's just enough room between the backrest abd rack to slide your hand between them. This will keep weight more forward and not stress the rear of the lid as much. Now when mounting the spoiler it's easy to position it due to the marked center line and knowing just how much room you have between the rack and top of the spoiler. Get it too close and it's a bear cleaning. To far back and the lights end up pointing downward, making it harder for drivers behind you to see the lights. Especialy in day times. Mind you this is just one persons opinion and we all know what opinions are. Larry
  4. Sorry to hear this of your friends or anyone else for that matter. Hate to read these posts when there is nothing one can do. If people would only pay attention to what they're doing while driving the world would be much safer for everyone else on the road. Prayers and wishing a speedy recovery for all involved. Larry

  6. Ah another convert to the 2nd gen world. Slowly but surely we'll keep getting these 1st geners over to the dark side. Larry
  7. Haven't seen anything posted myself but like you would welcome the info larry

  9. Ok Ron let's see what some of us have done here. First as noted there's only 3 companies currently making trike conversions for the 2nd gen Ventures. Hannigan, Champion, and Tri-Wing. I went with the Tri-Wing myself because they will sell their kits to the customer while Hannigan and Champion are strictly factory or authorized dealers doing the conversions. Since I'm a retired mechanic I hated to pay for labor that I could do myself. Saving the labor costs influenced me a lot here. Last month I was able to attend a trikers rally and saw first hand both the Champion and Hannigan trikes on Ventures. I must say they looked really sharp. Also saw a 99 Motor Trike that was for sale. Which one of the three companies is best? Hard to say as there are features on each I like. On customer relations I found my dealings with Tri-Wing completely different than Vicco did. Before, during, and after the sale they were extremely helpful. In fact I had gotten a set of bad air bags that their supply had shipped and Tri-Wing took immediate action to resolve the problem. This was 3 months after the sale and before I had completed the conversion. I will say that if you're not mechanically inclined then one is best to have a dealer or factory do the converson. I do have some pics in my profile as well. Links -- http://www.triwing.com/ http://www.championsidecars.com/ while they don't list a kit for the Venture on their web site I know they are making them for it. Best contact them for more info http://www.hannigantrikes.com/content/yamahatrike.html Larry
  10. Besides the Steble air horn in place of the right side stock horn I've mount a pair of electric Highway Blasters on the bike. One under the lower left cowling in place of the stock horn and the other inside the fairing to the left of the headlight assembly. These horns are about as loud as the air horn too. Certainly they'll get some errant cagers attention. I did have to fabricate a new bracket for the one in the left cowling & take off the plastic cover on the horn. Ran all the wiring thru the same relay too. Sorry no pics of my set up either. Perhaps next time I have the covers off. Larry
  11. Carlos you have mail/pm Larry
  12. Thanks Carlos I may take you up on that as I'm not that confident of the dealers service department. I'll give you a call later Larry
  13. Kevin you got yourself one fine ride there. That bike is as good as new. And whoever is to buy that 90 is getting a fine machine as well. Would have loved to seen Brad's face when you and Sue pulled into Squids driveway. Pics would of been priceless. Larry
  14. Know what ya mean there Mariner. I don't think that camera ever leaves her hands. Just a clicking away. Guess we shouldn't really think no different thou and certainly not the first time she's downloaded a slew of pics. I do think this is a record for her. Am I right Mechanic? Good job on the pics just the same Mechanic and thanks for sharing them. Gives us poor folks who couldn't be there at least see what we all missed. And hoping/wishing we can get to the next rally. Larry
  15. Finally getting my broken cb antena replaced by the dealer. When I asked about swr tuning I got one of those "oh it don't need that". True or false? Seems I read or heard said that the cb would go bad. Then again I know nothing about these things . I know some members have tuned their antenas for best operation but wanted to know if it's required or needed. I'd rather not let them mess with it unless I have to. Larry
  16. That's pretty scary. Let's hope they finish their trip safely. If they continue with this type of behaviour don't be too surprised to read of them having a mishap. Larry
  17. Thanks for all the good words and praise guys. I do try to make a quality product that would make life easier owning these great bikes. Since starting this endeavor two years ago I can honestly say there's been only a couple of times I've dropped the ball so to speak and then it was minor stuff. At least no one has asked for their money back yet. I've had the pleasure to meet and ride with some of you. Hope to meet many more of my fellow Venture Riders in the future as well. I'll continue offering the lift adapters as well as the Stebel horn brackets for as long as theirs customers wanting them. Thanks, Larry
  18. We'll be there Al. Sounds like a neat new place to check out. Larry
  19. Such a tease you are Skid. Glad to hear Yammer's going whatever kind of wheels he'll be on. Larry
  20. Updated post above with pics. Larry
  21. Hate reading these posts from our members but happy that you Boomer are here to tell us of it. As bad as you're banged up it could of been worse. Oh yea that bike will most likely be road ready long before you are. Follow Doc's orders and get fully healed before getting back on the horse. Larry
  22. I've built a couple of them for my bike already. I used 3/4" angle for one and 1" for the other. Made the 1" model first (12" x 18") and decided I wanted a bigger one to better fit my luggage bag. That one measures out at 12" x 24". Then used expanded metal for the base, drilled 3/8" holes along the sides for the bungie cords. I'll post a couple of pics later. Larry
  23. That was a wondfull trip you & Debbie had Curt. Thanks for sharing it with us all. Larry
  24. Sorry to hear of your mishap. Heal quickly and by the time it does you'll have the bike ready to go again. Larry
  25. Hey Joe don't give up just yet. Hopefully you'll get someones attenion here. I would offer my services but won't be in town then. Heading to NC for a weeks riding the Labor Day week/weekend. Larry
