Yes Eck, Your right. There is always a negative element in any microcosm of any sub culture of society or society as a whole. My up bringing tells me it is wrong to judge all by the actions of a a few. If it was OK to do so we all would be subject to condemnations by others for whatever reason. The Make, Model or brand does not make the man. But in reality, perceptions end up being reality. Stereo types end up being the definition of the group. These stereo types are perpetrated by the marketing of the brand. I quote," You meet the nicest people on a Honda" What image or brand loyalty does HD market. The resulting stereo types are what they are not because of my opinion but the opinions of the majority that see the group for the characterizations, attributes and attitudes they project. We do the same even in this forum family of individuals who openly applaud each other. I give as an example the good natured jabs and condemnations between the 1st and 2nd genners or the dark siders and the rest of us. I know I am truly guilty of the same. Hopefully, when I do it, it comes across as good natured ribbing and not mean, hurtful or destructive condemnation. Do I care what you ride? Absolutely not. Do I think any less of you because you now ride a GW instead of a Yamaha? Absolutely not. Would I reject the thought of HD riding friends and refuse to ride with them? Absolutely not. Do I enjoy out running HD's? Absolutely........ I can't help it. Don't hate me because 1st gens are so much faster. Because I know, That I could be riding a HD too ........ If I wanted to be a follower instead of a leader. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

I see your logic in there somewhere.... I think. So if I understand your reasoning correctly, to reiterate and summerize: "If you don't give a Rat's A$$ you end up with Diddly Squat" Is that right?

On board Tequila dispenser which came in very handy when surrounded by a 1%er HD angry Biker gang wanting to do some metric bashing.

Yes Eck, In theory and principle I agree with you. But, I think Harley bashing is just a natural reaction to the HD brand loyalty snobs mentallity toward riders of anything else that we see so often from die hard HD riders. I myself love to play a game I call smoking Harleys with my first gen at every chance I get. Just to let the Harley Snobs know it was a 25 year old metric Yamaha that just blew them off the road. Only in the safest, friendliest sort of way of course.

Which is just as useless as the cassette player because it could not overcome the VentureRider ice cream consumption load and quickly burned out with only minimal usage.

The laborous forward motion of the second gen would not generate enough head wind to over come the lofty wafting fumes of the exhaust.

And how does this relate to Rat A$$eSS, However you have laborously validated my point of view. Diddly Squat would be a difficult gift to wrap.

Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin... If you ask me again.......... I'll huff and puff and blow your house in. At which time the worm hole closed and Dragonslayer realized he had made a great mistake since his escape path had closed off and he was hopelessly out numbered by sexy shirt snatching sirens, ice cream slurping Big Tom turkeys and dingy eating pond monsters.

I wonder if they will do anything about the crappy clearcoat that turned to milk white on top of the flat black helmet on mine.

So since there was no more ice cream we set off in search of Dingy who had stumbled off toward the pond monster abyss and had lost his way.

You can unplug the side stand switch untill you can fix or replace switch and the bike will crank and run and the light will go away. -

We decided to take a ride to Raceman67's to do some preseason scouting in the deer woods yesterday. It was a nice little ride for about 50 miles with a short trip by wally world for some food plot seed. We walked the property, threw some seed and walked back up to John's house just in time to catch John and Melinda with some friends kicking it on the rear deck. Being the gracious host that they are, we were immediatly welcomed and included in the festivities. One thing led to another and after grilled munchies and wings on the Green egg it got pretty late. So, the ride back at around 11:00 was down the country road where we had nailed a ten point buck with the Chevy Cavelier a couple of years ago. With that memory on my mind we rode back with the lights and the radio blaring as fair warning to any deer thinking about playing motorcycle tag. The ride back ended up being non eventful and by the time I hit the bed my lights were out in less than a minute. Been a while since I slept so good.

Nice, and a first gen too. :cool10: Let me know when you get it and we can go for a ride somewhere. Where is it coming from? I'm surprised you didn't go get it and ride it back.

Stumped again
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's always the last thing you check. But, In this case I have to take the blame. Looking back in retrospect I recall thinking that the mounting screw for the inner fairing cover was dangerousely in touch with that wire and was subject to damageing or disconnecting wire at the bullet connector. I should have known to look there first. -
Stumped again
Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It was the bullet connector at the solenoid end. I just cut it out and hard sodered the wires together. Problem solved without having to run a jumper. Thanks Fellows That $12.00 investment paid off again. -
Talk to Ediddy, He is my insurance guy and speciallizes in motorcycle insurance. I've always found his prices great with great coverages and personal service. I also like doing business with a fellow VentureRider member when I can.
