  1. i would like to SEE the difference, between a stock fork brace and a SUPERBRACE, if anyone has pictures of the two. i really don't know what mine is, other than that it fits an '86. any pics, will be greatly appreciated. just jt
  2. i have read ,in different threads and posts, that the carb. diaphragms,DO have a direct bearing on "engine idle." i have also read, here, that the diaphragms have NO effect on idling. so which is correct? also , today, i read a thread or two that mentioned "enrichment diaphragms"! first time i've ever heard of them. where are they located, and do THEY have any influence over "smooth idling".? just jt
  3. be aware, that not all "phillips head screwdrivers" will work properly, on metric screws. seems that the jap phillipps heads are a tad different ,than ours, although they are NO T REED AND PRINCE" type either. just jt
  4. BZZZTTTT! wrong answer! lol no pics! just jt
  5. don. don't you ever get tired of "searching for improvements". it's your time and effort, so go for it! thanks a million , for ALL that you do. just jt
  6. just a question, here, about brake fluid reservoir. if the fluid level is "too high", will that make the light come on ,when the fluid warms up and expands? just jt
  7. ken. i don't kow about the "legality" of strobes, but it would be nice, if they were allowed. just jt
  8. dan , and bob. i am aware of the "screwdriver tapping" procedure. yes, it works on many applications. on 20 year old plastic, it does the same thing as just turning the screw. it shatters the tab, which is "sandwitched" between the two sides of the metal "nut holder clip" i guess you'd call it. at any rate, i sprayed the left side screws with penetrating oil, and in the morning, i will decide if it did any good. just jt
  9. i know, brad! i'm still waitin' on "redneck" to check in ,though! lol mike ain't got a bashful, or opinonated bone in his body! yeah ,right! just jt
  10. aw, come on , squid! knock yourself out! how many 20 year old bikes have you seen, that never had ANYTHING done to them, except oil changes, and gas fillup. this old "tinker toy", is what makes me want to get up every morning! i am having a blast with this thing, and i haven't even put 200 miles on it in a year! lol probably never will "ride it",the way everyone here loves to do. just jt
  11. a word of caution ,to anyone taking the fairing apart on an old bike. mine had two broken tabs, on the right side, so i decided to repair them today. in the screw removal process, i managed to break two more tabs. it seems that the screws have never been removed before. when i turned the screws, the tab turned with it and broke/shattered. i suggest ,if you are gonna split your fairing, spray all the screws with a good penetrating oil and let them sit overnight. now i have a bunch of tabs to build! just jt
  12. no doubt in my mind, gary! a modulator, would have made the rider VERY visible, as the sun was BEHIND ME. all that chrome, and "driving lights", on both the truck and bike, just sorta "melded" into a "truck grille". i have learned , a long time ago. better to look twice, than to wreck once! just jt
  13. well folks, it has happened to me TWICE, in the past couple of weeks. afternoon sun at my back, in town driving, preparing to make a left turn. i look down the street a couple of blocks, i see a white,"dodge ram dually", coming in the inside lane. headlights are on, chrome bumper is shining like a new nickle. i look a second time, to be sure, and lo and behold! 300 feet in front of the truck, is an all white goldwing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lights on, chrome shining, both blending in with the front of the truck! i guess what i'm trying to say, is that sometimes you really DON'T see the motorcycle, even in bright ,clear daylight!!!!!!!!! you guys be extra careful out there! just jt
  14. be patient, carl! redneck will be along shortly, and tell you how to "fix" your problem. of course his answer is always the same! lol tell him, mike! lol just jt
  15. you mean, you have to wash these things tooo??? i quit! i ain't gonna wash no bike! lol:no-no-no: just jt
  16. OWNERS MANUAL, isn't the same as a "tech manual", is it? i have the o.m. that came with my 86, but not the "hard", tech manual. just jt
  17. 86's don't have them. helmet locks are under the trunk. just jt
  18. you know what that means!!!!!!!!! 25 lashes! with a wet noodle!lol just jt
  19. didn't i read, just recently, something about "moving the wire away from the gas tank wire plug holder?" is this the problem that you have? engine /spark plug noise? maybe i dreamed this all up?:confused24: just jt
  20. seems to be a lot of "sticking switches" lately. thanks for the heads up. gonna build a set of "jumpers" and keep them in my trunk! just jt
  21. home made formula, = abs plastic shavings/powder, mixed with acetone, or mek. this concoction, forms a "glue", that is the exact same thing as your plastic piece. if you need to make a mold, for the missing piece, you can use "silly putty". or "plumbers putty". i use the plumbers type putty, because it is more malleable, yet it holds it's shape better. either way, it is WAY cheaper to repair, than to replace! just jt
  22. pete, is you plastic, not repairable? the "home made formula, " works really well! just jt
  23. oh no!!!!! mike , don't tell me you're gonna start "scrappin'" first gens, too! i might just park mine. won't be long ,i'll have the ONLY first gen ,on the block! :stirthepot: just jt
  24. if you just eased it over, then we can presume , no harm was done to the bike! technically, that ain't a "drop". lol however,_------ welcome to the "i dropped it club". now you are officially ,one of us! :stirthepot: just jt
  25. thanks don. now i know. just jt
