yesterday afternoon, i hooked up my "carbtune II, to a kz1100 spectre. bike started right up, idled just right, NO VACUUM. cranked it up to 3000 r.p.m.s and got just a very slight hint of movement on the carbtune, then NOTHING! question is, WHERE is engine vacuum, created? we couldn't find any loose hoses, and no audible sound of a leak. any one who can offer any help, please speak up. just jt:confused24:

the idle adjust screw, is behind the small plate , that has the carb drain hoses, running through it, it faces DOWN. it's about the size of a dime. sorry i don't have any pics either. hope this helps. just jt- 11 replies

not bike related. on Friday, last, i went into town to run a errand. i looked down at my "amp gauge", and it was pegged out(20 to 22 amps). i stopped a "bato zone" and ordered a new alternator. it came in Sat. i installed it the same day. so far, it ain't charged a single amp. question is, does anyone know if Ford, installed an inline fusible link, or circuit breaker, or something, that would not allow the system to charge? it's in a 92 aerostar. any input would be appreciated. just jt

Bill, did Lowell, happen to mention how his wife , "Miss Laura", made it through Gustav? i know his place got a ton of wind and rain. i have been worrying about her for two days. tried to call, both numbers listed in his profile. all i got was the "old coot", tellin' me to leave a message! lol just jt

LEW , first let me say WELCOME to our house. second, about the heel-toe shifter. if you like the floorboards, then i think you are stuck with the shifter. as GEORGeS said, it is an aftermarket, add on. should you decide to go back to "original", you can almost name your price for the floorboards and h/t shifter. CONGRATS on you new '89! just jt -
Don't feel bad G.W., i got nosy and fell for it too! lol just jt:Sad_0241:

i have met Brad and Lonna ,personally. i will say this, as it is my true belief,. Brad would come nearer to overpaying, than to shortchanging ANYONE! LONNA on the other hand, you might better watch her! lol gonna get a money order in the mail today, brad! just jt

Dale , ya might ought to think more along the lines of an "ankle bracelet," with a venture rider's bell on it.closer to the road! lol tell Cindy , we all hurt , right along with her. i hope your life changes for the better REAL soon. just jt

BUBBER, i think Honda publishes a booklet, every year, that shows all of the camping spots in any state.ya'll be safe, and have a blast. oh , and wear clean underwear! you never know! lol just jt:rotf:

Bill, to answer your REAL question. there are MANY '83 to 85 first gen ventures STILL on the road. there are MANY '86 to 93, first gen ventures still on the road. unfortunately, there's a lot of them "newer ones", too.(their owners think they are fast) lol just jt

Dan, it may be time for a new thermostat, or maybe a sensor. sounds to me like the bike has to heat ALL the water, before it smooths out. could be wrong, but it is a possibility! lol just jt

Fuse box upgrade question
hipshot replied to Gdserlin's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Gerry. i ran into the same problem. in order to get the correct fuse block(individual circuits), the Yamaha marine dealer would have had to special order it! $78.00 and change! since the only circuit on my bike that was actually bad, was the headlight fuse, i simply bough an inline blade type fuse and fuse holder, and soldered it in place of the glass fuse. just jt -
Josh. a LOT of people members and non-members pull trailers thousands of miles , every year, with NO ill results. i am not positive, but i don't think the trailer has been proven tho be the cause of the Canadian rider's wreck. i could be wrong on that point. at any rate, your 07 IS SAFE to pull a trailer with. as for the hitch, try googling a company called "hitch doc.". OH. and WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE! just jt p.s. josh, you might want to use this forum's search feature, to see a whole lot of places where hitches and wiring harness can be obtained. just go to the top of this page click on searc, then type in "trailer hitch".

Lewis, what can you tell us about that little "chevy trailer"? man that looks neat. just jt

CLAY. ditto to what ALL the others said.keep your head down and your powder dry. hope to meet ya in person , one of these days. just jt

Mike! you don't know how true that statement is!!! lol i plead guilty to being "ignorant" about these REAL ventures. a "one eyed wino, with a big belly button", can work on 2nd gens, but you have to be INTELLIGENT, to work on a 1st gen. even SQUIDLEY gave up on one, and people say he's a pretty fair "wrencher"! lol thanks for making all of us smile , this morning! just jt:Avatars_Gee_George:

WHAT CAN YOU SAY, ? i wish that i could be that YOUNG and ignorant, again. just jt
