According to a report on Moto Revue, Yamaha are looking at taking on the Kawasaki 1400GTR in a big way by launching an updated FJR – the FJR1400 – towards the end of this year. Apart from its 1400cc inline-four, the new FJR is expected to get bits like the latest-generation anti-lock brakes, traction control and a semi-automatic gearbox that offers clutchless gear shifts.

Looking hard at a new 665 to replace both existing nuvi and xm radio. Question is: Do I need a "hard connect" between the 665 and bike (though AUX input?) OR will it transmit directly through the Yamaha FM radio as I do with my existing XM radio? If I need a connecting cable, does it come with the unit or ? THANKS!

Heard today from K&N, Yamaha will not relase other Venture until 2012 or 2013. They showed a 2011 (Blue/black) in their dealer book. This must be left overs from 2009. I wonder what Yamaha is up to now for the touring market.

Well Yamaha just announce the 2011 RSV on the Canadian and US sites and here is the BIG news..... They changed the color of the paint.....again.... And raised the price......again... I have just scheduled a test ride on a 2010 Goldwing for Monday...... gotta replace the 2007 RSV I just totaled as Yamaha did NOT use the 2nd gen VMax motor in the 2011 RSV :( :( :( :( :( Wish me luck at the Honda dealership.

I thought I'd show you guys my new ride. It's not a Yamaha, but it's still a bike and it's still fun to ride. Okay I should have sucked my gut in a little...

I talked to a rep at the Yamaha tent in sturgis, They had all their new yammies sitting out on display. I walked around a bit then went up and talked to a guy. He asked if i was interested in anything. I told him i was interested in the new 2011 venture. Because they didnt have one out on display. Not even a 2010. I said that I was a member on here and everybody wants to know what is coming. He basically told me "I feel your pain". He said Yamaha has a bike that sells the way it is, and that he doesnt know what they have coming down the pipe. and that he doesnt know whats coming. So I took that as another year of the same thing. He asked if i was interested in anything else. I said that if nothing changes soon I'll be interested in another brand......

I know this issue has come up on more than one occassion, but I'm still confused. I have gone through two sets of saddlebag side rails (heavy rust). Looking at the ones on the Yamaha web site, I think I might have bought some sort of knock-off rails in the past. On both of my sets, and the photos I've seen on this forum and elsewhere, the two horizontal rails appear to be the same diameter. In the Yamaha web site photo, the top rail seems to be considerably thinner than the bottom one. Also, on the web site photo, the point where the two horizontal rails meet seems to be much closer to the front. On mine, that point seems to be several inches further back than theirs. Finally, when looking at them from behind, the vertical part where the upper rail comes down and meets the lower rail seems to be different. On mine, that short vertical portion is close to the inside of the bike, causing the curvature to rub against the bottom of the rear turn signals. In the Yamaha photo, it appears that the vertical portion of the top rail comes down in to the middle of the rear portion of the lower rail. I think this would allow for some space between the rear turn signal and the curvature, so the two would not touch. I guess my question is this... Are there knock-offs out there being sold as genuine Yamaha saddlebag side rails, or did Yamaha change the design at some point, leaving the photo of the old style on the website? I contacted the local dealer about this, but of course, they didn't know. I want to make sure that if I order another set, I don't end up with same result; rusted, unusable rails. Anyone out there know?

I took a trip form Montreal to Vancouver 14,000km over 28 days. What a trip nice ride, people, weather and scenary.Only one glitch in the trip The Yamaha dealer in Kelowna. We were three couples, two riding Honda's, and us with the Venture. We all needed an oil change so off we went my friends to Honda and me to Yamaha. Guess what? The dealer did not want to change my oil that day even if I mentionned I was leaving early next morning:bang head:. He said all was taken and their policy is not to take walk ins. They have two sites so the other one wanted me to leave the bike for the day and they would maybe fit me in. What should I do in the meantime with no ride????? not their problem. I ended up in a Victory :clap2:bike shop with great service and a friendly atmosphere, even if I was riding a Yamaha. Bought gloves while I was there, one hour later I was out and ready to ride. My message to the Kelowna dealer is he might be good in boats and four wheelers but as a bike shop he is unworthy of giving sevice and should not sell motorcycle. If they can't help the riders to continue their journey they are not a bike shop. Oh and talk about all the ribbing I got from my Honda friends. If I had a Harley, Victory, Honda, I would have had service but the Kelowna Yamaha dealer:thumbdown:, no sir. I had to pass this on and I am sending an email to their offices so they know how I feel. Thanks for reading.

Just returned from an 8 day ride to and through Colorado with 4 of my buddies....what a wonderful trip! On the way back to Indiana, one of the guys who rides a Stratoliner experienced a problem with his front tire and needed a new one. We were in Junction City, Kansas when the problem surface and a quick search turned up Brooks Yamaha in Manhattan Kansas as the closest Yamaha dealer. It was very late on Friday evening, so we booked a motel room for the night. Rode over to Brooks early on Saturday in order to be there when they opened at 9 a.m. When John told the parts dept what he needed, he said he didn't know if they could change the tire for him as there is only one mechanic on duty on Saturday. However, when they found out we were travelling and needed to get back on the road they worked him in quickly. It ended up that we were there for 2 hours start to finish....and they didn't "stick it to him" because he was without options. Their price was very fair for the tire and for their services. Get this....their labor charge was only $22, and that included R&R the wheel as well as mounting and balancing the tire. While the work was being done, the staff was very friendly....treated us like friends and neighbors....talked bikes and riding. When I compare this dealership to the one I experienced in Clarksville, Tennessee several weeks back, I am amazed at the difference. What a great place to do business. If you are in the area of Brooks Yamaha, pay them a visit. They seem to be a very good place to do business.

Has anyone ever priced a Venture trunk new from Yamaha? I was just curious.

Does anyone have a picture of their Yamaha trunk rack and Yamaha bag mounted that they could post? I was also wondering how well the velcro straps line up with the rack? Thanks in advance.

Is there any way of knowing what RSV engines could be used for replacement, say, on an ’03 RSV. When it gets time I would like to give my “ride” a new lease on life. I like this machine. Yamaha and parts suppliers aren’t much help. Their position: responsibility rest with you for knowing your needs.

My new-to-me 97 Tour Classic came with a Yamaha Windshield. It measures 23 1/2 inches from the headlight opening to the top. I assumed that was the "Tall" that was originally on the bike. The shield itself has the protective coating pealing off really badly which makes looking through it when the sun hits near impossible. So since I need a new windshield anyway, I am trying to purchase a "Medium" so that I can look over the top. Now as far as I can tell checking data from various websites the Yamaha windshields come in three sizes each 3 inches shorter than the next: Tall - 23 1/2 inches Medium - 20 1/2 inches Short - 17 1/2 inches So twice now I have won auctions from two different sellers on E-Bay selling a Medium Royal Star Windshield. Problem is when I get them they measure 17 1/2 inches which I believe to be a short - not the medium I thought I was buying. The first one the seller stated he was unsure and just "thought" it was a medium and took it back. The last one even had the following part number on it: STR-4NL07-10-00, which, when I looked it up showed a medium, but when I just opened the box it measures 17 1/2 inches again. So, as sit here for a second time very frustrated: What is the true measurement of the Yamaha "Medium"? What Yamaha Part Number should I be looking for if I want a medium shield for a 97 Tour Classic?

I find that the number 2 cylinder on my bike is not firing so I swapped the #2 and #4 plug leads to see if the problem lay with the ignition coil and is appears that this is so. Does anyone know if there is an easier way of replacing the coil other than the way Yamaha intended this to be done, ie remove the fairing, the motor, cut a section out of the frame, replace the coil and then reverse the process. Many thanks.
