  1. Well after 4 major surgeries and 5 years since Charlene has been on the back of a motorcycle to take a ride, she finally did it today. She decided to take a short ride to see how well she could tolerate the ride and she did well, we did about 30 miles on the V Star and she got a little numbbutt, but wasnt to bad, so she may do some riding at Vogel.
  2. Does anyone have advice on slip-on exhausts for Venture star. Looking to make the bike rumble a bit more with a nice exhaust note and would appreciate advice on exhausts people have tried. Also would like to avoid any tinkering with carburettors if possible as part of the upgrade.
  3. Will 2001 Venture carbs fit onto a 2000 Royal Star?
  4. STAR Touring annual STAR Days is in Madison, WI next week. Just wondering who from VR forums is going. Three of us from SC STAR chapters are going, headed out Saturday. About 1000 miles each way. If it ain't RAINING, we will HEAD up through Clemson, Hwy 28 to the Dragon, spend the night north of there. Sunday morning, more mountain roads through TN to Louisville. On through Indy, to around Champaign, IL for the night, then to Madison Monday AM. Doing straight interstate back on the following Fri-Sat. I did see a post in a post saying they were going. Anyhow, anyone else going? And, hey, even if you aren't a member, swing by to see what's happening, including vendors. Hey Wanderer, yep, I'm taking the Venture-Dream. Mike G in SC
  5. Saturday morning we head out of Utah on the way to STAR Days in Middleton, WI. Our route should take us out on I-80 across Wyoming and in to Nebraska. The first night, we will stay in Sidney, NB and the second night we will stay in Clive, IA. I expect that this stretch will be more of an endurance ride than a pleasure cruise. My question is, does anyone know of any "can't miss" sights along our way to Middleton? I'm pretty sure that it's just prairies and fields of corn, right? On the way back, we're going out on I-90 across Iowa and South Dakota, and then down through Wyoming. I don't expect that there is much to see in Iowa or until we get to the Black Hills area is there? I just don't like to miss seeing the fun stuff along the way. Anyone else here going to STAR Days? I understand that it probably conflicts with the Cody Rally, but maybe we can go to that next year. Thanks guys! Be Safe! Pete.
  6. Hi All: Haven't been around much, working too much o/t and having to get the house ready really sucked. I need a new master cylinder for the clutch on my 96 royal star. It's pooched. Would anyone have one around that they'd like to part with? Pinwall only has one, and somebody wants it a lot worse than I do, the bidding is up over $100 for it already. If you have one available, or know where I can get a rebuild kit, I'd appreciate hearing from you. The old royal star is sold, and I have my 04 midnite venture on the block as well...it appears that we are getting out of biking and heading sailing. Retirement is about 10 years away...and we'd like to do it on a sailboat somewhere warm...like the Caribbean. More to follow on that. Thanks, and hi to all that Beth and I know! gunk:shock3:
  7. I bought a 2011 RSV over a month ago and have not recieved my Star Branded ipod touch. Has anyone else that bought a 2011 RSV received theirs? If I don't receive any responses from this forum I will call Yamaha in California to see what the hold up is. I now have over 1000 miles on the RSV and can't ride it enough. It is such a joy to ride after riding an FJR and a Concours 14 the last 4 years. The palms of my hands are no longer sore from having to ride with my weight on my palms. The RSV is such a comfortable bike to ride! I should have bought the 1999 model that I first fell in love with so many years ago.
  8. I am thinking of selling my 1996 RSTC and buying a 1999 Road Star. I would be gaining 3 years. 300cc's and the Road Star has 15,000 less miles. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for when I check out this bike?
  9. To all the RSTC riders out there! There has been a couple threads on this forum recently regarding patches for the RSTD's. Well, I've been putting in a few words for the RSTC owers out there as I'm about to become one, owner of a RSTC that is! End result is that Golf&Venture is willing to do up designs for the RSTCs. So far I'm the only one on the thread that "has" a RSTC so I'm the only one asking for a Tour Classic patch. Anyone else interested There are two designs, the STAR patch with ROYAL STAR on top, the Yamaha star in the middle, and for our bikes TOUR CLASSIC underneath. The M/C patch would be basically the same but with a TC between the RS and TC. You can see mock-ups of the RSTD M/C patch and STAR patches on the other thread. We can get the colors we want for the lettering and can also decide on which colors we want for the bike on the M/C patch. Also 4 sizes can be available, basically the same as the Venture patches that are currently being ordered and distributed on the site. ANY TAKERS???? The thread you'll find the mock-ups on is "RSTD possible patch design" . Just join the other thread and let G&V know there's more of us out there that want these!!
  10. Pulled into Racers Bar and Grill and saw this nice Royal Star in the parking lot. Turns out to be owned by a guy I've known for 3 years but have never seen him on anything except for his Valkyrie. It's a 96 he bought new and has hardly rode it since he bought his Valkyrie. He made that custom seat. Says he's now using it for his around town ride.
  11. Hi all this is Chad from Pioneer Motorsport. We are a Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Can-Am dealer in western new york as well as VR sponsor. We will be attending our first maintenance day this summer, and wanted to get a thread started for special request items. We have a good sized enclosed trailer that we will have filled with Star apparel and goodies. I already am planning on bringing the standard maintenance items (Oil and filters from Yamaha, brakes from EBC, brake fluid from Bel Ray, tires - Dunlop Elite 3 and D404, an assortment of STAR accessories, etc.) If you are looking for a particular item please either post it in the official thread in the watering hole or PM me. I don't get to check venturerider every day but will at least get on a few times a week to respond to posts and messages. Thanks and looking forward to meeting everyone in a few months!
  12. My last rear brake pads lasted forever compared to the originals but they also wore down the rotor. Looking on ebay I saw several off of the original Royal Stars and Royal Star Tour Deluxes. It looks to me like they should work on my Royal Star Venture. Does anybody know that for sure?
  13. I'm looking at the KURY 4549 Adjustable Cruise Peg Mounts (pr) Fits: Yamaha: Road Star & V Star 950, 1100, & 1300 with stock floorboards I know they don't list the RSTD, but when I look at the parts catalogue on the Yamaha website, i see that the VSTAR 1300 and the RSTD have the same part # for the floorboard, 4NK-27451-10. Does anyone know a reason why I can't mount those on my RSTD? Thanks
  14. So I have just joined this forum, wanted to say hi, and introduce myself. I am on my third royal star venture. I started with a 1996 roal star tour classic thati bought in 2004 with 7000 miles on it, when i finished with it, it had 87,000 on it by the middle of 2007. I bought a new 06 royal star midnight venture, which was running strong until someone ran it over while parked last week. Good thing my insurance covered what was left on the loan plus enough ectra to get another motorcycle. A new 2010 royal star venture s. Yes, I like the motorcycle, I dont own a car, i ride all the time, and in southern california traffic, it absolutely saves me time and gas over driving a car. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.
  15. My bike made it to the Star Motorcycles virtual bike show......Vote for me... its the 2006 Tour Deluxe listed under Royal star/ Royal Star Venture tab (bottom one) Cant miss the bike... Picture is the bike sitting in from of Miller Park http://mail.aol.com/33646-311/aol-6/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=12280&folder=Inbox&partId=3 Visit the Star Motorcycles Virtual Bike Show at www.starmotorcycles.com/virtualbikeshow. 16. Miss that roaring V8 with the thrush mufflers? Step back into your wild youth...even in your mini-van! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9XAC-BvUyo&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Shonky and the SoundRacer V8[/ame] Now if they could just come out with one for a vespa to a Road Star with Bubs!
  17. I just wanted to throw this out and get some opinions. I am getting what feels like to be some sort of pinched nerve feeling in my upper back, just to the right of my left shoulder blade while riding the bike. It doesnt take long for it to show up, maybe after 20 minutes or so of riding. I can move around and make it go away, or start to feel better, but it is there. Not real painful, but more annoying than anything. I have only put about 500 miles on this bike, and I don't remember it happening on our old bike (1982 Honda Silver Wing Interstate with stock seats) both bikes backrest, as I just added one to our new bike. Its a 97 Royal Star Tour Classic with the Yamaha Comfort Cruise Seats by Corbin. The most that we have riden so far is 125 miles in one day but we have a 1200 mile trip coming up next weekend so I am looking for suggestions on what to do? I appreciate any input,.. I also wanted to ad that I am 45 years young, 6'0, 195Lbs
  18. I have just purchased a 99 Royal Star Venture. It is loaded and looks great. Has 43,000 miles and runs smooth at idle. It has a vibration when under load (riding) and goes away when I reduce the throttle. I am coming off a 2002 Road Star from the past 3 years and have only had the new bike out a couple of times and am not used to it. Has anyone had the same issue or can share a similar experiance? srm.
  19. I would like to replace my clear fairing protectors with shaded. Anyone know where to purchase some?? I have a 2007 Royal Star Venture Midnight
  20. So what do you do to a bike that needs to much attention? Sell It!!!! So I don't own a Venture anymore. But I do have a new Star..
  21. Anyone know where I can down a Service Manual for 650 V star 2005 free?
  22. The question has been asked a few times if there was a gear indicator available for the Royal Star Venture and the Royal Star. I have been in contact with the same company that makes the Speedohealer and they do have one that will work on our bikes. I have been 100% pleased with the Speedohealer so decided to add the gear indicator also. This is a simple plug and play device that indicates what gear you are in. I just ordered one and will give a full report on it after I receive and install it but if this is something you have been interested in, you can find the information here. They told me that we should purchase from their USA Distributor: http://www.calsportbike.com/gpx but the manufacturers website is: http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ From the info they sent to me: The GIpro X-type will work great. Part number: "GIPRO-X-color + GPX-Y01" Where 'color' is either Red or Blue Price is $132.99
  23. Hey Nj . is there a member group meeting that i can be a part of or can we set up a date for a few of our members to meet and greet and enjoy the beauty that is the ROyal star. I live in central jersey maybe once we get a few Nj people chiming in we can set up a date. jose 1996 RS
  24. I'll try to make this short. I'm the new President of our local STAR Touring and Riding Chapter (Chapter 186 Contra Costa Ca). The closest Yamaha dealer is about 40 miles away in another county. There is a Honda/Suzuki dealer in the middle of the county that has asked Yamaha for a dealership but has been denied because Yamaha will only allow new dealers to be a "stand alone" dealership. OK, to the point. I'm starting a mail/email campaign to encourage Yamaha to grant this Honda/Suzuki dealer a Yamaha dealership. Our Chapter is all for writing Yamaha to put pressure on them to allow this shop a dealership. Because the sport bike market is so large I was wondering if there is a national riding organization like STAR Touring And Riding for sport bikes. If so I'd really appreciate any information so I can contact the local chapter to enlist their support. Thanks.
  25. Last year I installed a set of Jardine Chromed forward controls on my 96 royal star. Although I really enjoy the looks of them on the bike, I'm just not comfortable using them. I'm stretched out just a little too much for my 5'8" fatman frame.....and for myself, it's just not comfortable enough to continue using them. I'm going to put the regular Yamaha floorboards, shifter and brake systems back on...returning that part of the bike to stock. So...when I have a chance to dig the bike out of the backyard shed....the ground is still way too soft to get the bike out....I'll post some pics of them on the bike, and put them up for sale. I'll be asking $300 plus actual shipping costs. They are mint, I only put on about 600 miles on that bike last year. Thought I'd post this up in case someone else is thinking of installing a set on their royal star, they list for $700 new. Here's a couple of pics when I installed them. gunk:confused24:
