  1. Hey Don have a question for you. At the bottom of a post it used to say who has read the post and now it don't. What happen to this option or is there something I have to set up again. Joe
  2. Well folks, looks like we need another reminder about political posts. I have deleted two threads that either started out as or turned into political discussions. Simply put, they are not welcome here. This was discussed and voted on by the membership long ago and it was overwhelmingly agreed upon that we simply do not need political discussions here. I understand how tempting it is with all that is going on right now in the world of politics. I have said it before though and will say it again. There are PLENTY of websites and discussion forums available if you want to argue about politics. This is NOT the place. I also want to comment on a post in one of the threads that I deleted. The post said something like "I thought that political discussions were not allowed. I guess that's only if you disagree with the admin". That statement is totally false and I am offended by it. I most certainly have strong political views but I try to be unbiased in the way that I moderate this site. No threads are ever deleted without much thought and when possible, discussion among the moderators. Many times a political type thread is posted and is not deleted immediately. The reason is that even though we do not wish to see political threads posted, if it happens, we will usually give it some time in case by some unknown miracle, it doesn't get nasty and turn into a debate between the right and the left. It has nothing to do with whether or not the admin agrees or disagrees with the poster. Perhaps we need to take a stronger stand and just realize that ANY political thread is going to turn into a nasty debate and delete them immediately upon one of the moderators seeing the post. Folks, we have very few rules here. We try to give as much leeway as possible in allowing discussions on many subjects. No political discussion is one of those rules. Please try to keep that in mind.
  3. I am just curious as to how many of you on this site have lowered your bike? I just bought an 08 Venture and it was a bit too tall for my liking and i had the dealer put a rear lowering kit on the bike and i gotta tell ya that it is so much better now then it was that it is unbelievable! The kit dropped the bike about 1.5 inches and now i have much better control of the bike then i did when it was at the stock height. The bike seems to handle better also and it doesn't appear to have hurt the ride any either. I just thought i would post this for those of you who may have been considering doing this to your bike but maybe were afraid to. Hopefully this post will help a few vertically challenged folks like myself enjoy their bike more. When i first bought the bike i was really nervous about the bikes weight when i would come to a stop etc, now i don't worry at all about it. Hope this helps. This bike is awesome and i cannot believe you don't see more Ventures on the road then what you do. I don't feel like the Goldwing or the Ultra Classic either one has anything on this bike, especially when you factor in the price. The RSV a great touring bike at a great price and should not be over looked by anyone when considering a touring bike.

    Dragonslayer in Texas

Had a great time hosting Bob the Drangonslayer here in the Texas Panhandle over the weekend, and also meeting Jack, aka Silver Bullet. I'm sure Bob will post highlights of his journey, but here are a few pics until he can post some of his own. Hes got quite a few stories to tell! He headed out of Amarillo last night around 2200, I'm not sure of the exact time, but he was going to try to make a Saddle Sore run from Amarillo to Atlanta. Hope we hear from him soon!
  5. Sherry Paterson called at 2;30 today. Tom E was hit and killed by a truck. Will post more later.
  6. All I can say what Jimspa is doing here ..Is that I had to use the pliers:rotfl::rotfl: Sorry Jim I just had to post this picture
  7. yeah, I know been beaten to death. I searched several posts and still can't find the answer. If I were to mount it on the brake side of the bike, I can use an L bracket and tie into a pink and brown wire on 2 relay posts If I were to mount it in the fairing (which is how so far I have chosen to do), one relay post still goes to the pink wire, but not sure about the other wire. If there is a brown wire in the fairing, please let me know where. Any other options? A. Pink horn wire goes to RELAY POST 85. B. Brown horn wire goes to Relay Post 86. C. Connect one end of a wire to Relay Post 30 and the other end to the Hot side,+, of the compressor D. Connect end of your 20 amp Fused line to Relay Post 87 and the other end to the Hot Post,+, of your Battery. E. Connect the negative,-, on compressor to ground or neg,-, post on battery Also I have been reading about the feedback issue. Has anyone that has mounted it in the fairing still had the feedback issue? I am considering getting a seperate button and just wiring it seperately from the stock button if that will eliminate any feedback issue. From what I have understood the closer to the battery you install the fuse, the better off you are. Anyone else have this same understanding? Thanks.
  8. We arrived home Friday from Missouri visiting our son at Ft. Leonard Wood. Made a few stops along the way coming home. Thought I'd post a pic to see if anyone knows where we are or have been here to.
  9. I loaded about 140 pictures of Asheville from my camera to my computer. Where would be the best place to put them to share on here? And how would I do it. I know how to attach to a post, but I do not have a gallery. I looked at photobucket, but did not take the time to try to figure it out. RandyA
  10. I have been looking at these Heel rests for the passenger floorboards. A little pricey, but they seem like a good idea. I'm just not sure what they would look like. Does anyone have these on there bike? If so could you post a picture. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=detail&model_ID=42&Category_ID=6&manufacturer_ID=6&product_ID=7600&sblid_name=detail

  16. Playing with one of the new functions on here I think. Under quick links there is a "Social Groups" Option. I started one for those of us both Bikers and that also fancy themselves muscians. So if you play, sing, beat on boxes with wooden spoons or whistle for fun, and love music then lets get some discussion going on our other passion as well! Post up some messages in the group about your favorite instruments, memorable gigs, or how playing is Zen like, similar to riding, anything!! Just thought I would experiment with the new options, at least I think it's new:confused24:
  17. Just thought I'd comment on a ride that took place yesterday (Sun) to the Vietnam Memorial on the river front here in Windsor, this wall lists the names of Canadians killed in that war fighting with the US forces. The parade of motorcycles was made up of many differerant chapters and veteran organizations from Ontario and Michigan. We left from RCL branch 594 with an estimated 150 or so bikes and rode to the river with police escort, once there a service was held and 3 more names added to the list, it was very emotional especially for some of the families of those named, wreaths were laid in tribute to the fallen along with a rifle salute and Taps. There was one USM sgt there in full dress uniform who took part in the ceremony and believe me it was a hot day he must have been cooking (he also rode a bike). After the service many went back to the legion for a BBQ and also to get a good look at the Michigan mobile wall which was set up in the hall. It was sad to see the many, many names of men just from that one state. I don't know if there were any members from this site that attended, I only found out about it on Saturday night so I didn't get chance to post it earlier, I'll certainly be going again next year and will post it sooner. God bless all our troops where ever they may be.
  18. Did we accidently loose this feature, or did we turn it off?
  19. earlier, i read a post about the 5-4 supreme court ruling on the second amendment. now , after an hour of reading 200+ years of "pro and con" high court rulings and interpretations, i can't find the post, so i can't reply. it must have gone SOUTH, really fast! at any rate, it is sad indeed, that we have FOUR supreme court justices, who cannot read "plain English"!!!! just jt
  20. Hello Cindy. I was just wondering how Dale is getting along. Having been throught that twice, I sure feel for him. Please make a post with an update. Thanks
  21. Well what a great day at Don's today, lots of members and bike's. I got my carb tune done and Squidley installed my brakes and I thank you Brad. I got back about 7:30PM safe and sound. I will post what pic's I have as soon as I get a chance to download. Joe
  22. Ok folks let's get a heads up here on who's going to Freebirds on Saturday? 1. Who's going to go in the morning and come back that evening? 2. Time & place to meet up for the ride down? I think this will depend on who's going where we meet so I'll hold off on suggesting a location till we see who signs on here. Larry Posted time & location on post #11
