  1. We made it home safe and I hope everyone elsed did also. Just want to thank all that made the appearance and especially Lewis for organizing this event. Great to finally meet some of the folks in person. We had a really good time... Here is a few photos...I know a lot of folks took a lot more and hope to see them here also.
  2. Here are pics of Tinkerbell's new bike. A 2000 Honda Shadow ACE 750. By the way, she was the only person in her class to get 100% on the written and driving tests.
  3. While at Vogel I was presented with a book written by Peter Egan, titled Leanings. Peter Eagan is a contributing editor of Cycle World, Road & Track and a few other mags. These are stories and articles taken from Cycle World and are very good reading. YammerDan presented me with the book, and stipulated that the book had to be passed on to any member who wanted to read it. I am the 4th to have it according to the signatures in the cover. So if you are interested in reading it just post your request here with your mailing address and I will forward it on to you, when you are finished you must sign it, inside the front cover, and post here for the next person to read. That simple. Dan, you forgot to sign it so I will "forge" your name in it. And a big THANK YOU, to the person who bought this book, it was great reading.
  4. When I set out for MD at Don's, my only quest was to find the Gift. I started asking as soon as I got there, but nobody seemed to know who had it or where it was, I was later to find out why I couldnt locate it on my first day there, the person who shall go un-named, forgot it and had to have it overnighted to Don's so I could receive it........... I just want to thank Squidley and everyone who participated in the Gift project, because unbeknownst to me it was more that just a Gift and a tease to keep me searching for it, and those that participated know what it was. For those of you who dont, I will give a brief explanation and then some pictures of the Gift. Since I didnt show up at the Tattooing of Sleeperhawk's Mechanic and Squidley, they decided to pass the hat around, literally to travel to different rallies and M&E till I caught up with it, when it was passed it was for donations to St.Jude Children's Hospital and those that made a donation got to sign the hat. I was in the dark about this. I dont know how many signatures are on the hat, but there are plenty..........and Squidley kept me squirming till the very end. I just want to thank each and every person who donated and signed my gift, I will treasure it for the rest of my life and it will have a special place in my heart and home...........THANK YOU VENTURERIDERS.
  5. I just got back from a 250 mile round trip to visit with Brad and Lonna, and have brad help me tune my carbs. (well...Brad did all the work, and this was the true reason for the visit!!) Mind you I have never met either of them in person. They invite me to their house. From the time I roll in I felt like we were old friends. They both were happy to meet me and help me make the bike tip top. Well I must say....Brad YOU ROCK my friend. When I pulled into your drive my hands were almost numb from the vibration in my hand grips. I atributed that to my pipes, as that is when I started to notice the vibration. When you were tuning them you said they were not too far off, I must say they must have been farther off then they should have been because I had next to nothing for vibration on the way home. The bike is way more responsive than it had been and now I see more of a need for the clutch kit that is coming. I think I burned more fuel......it's not your fault though.....I couldn't keep my throttle in a steady place due to the new improved performance. I'm sure I must have put a dent in the bug population since I couldn't keep my teeth from showing. I must say this is the most friendly site I have ever been associated with and the people in person are nothing short of extrordinary. It was truely a pleasure to meet both of you and I look forward to M.D. to meet many more. Lonna, Holli doesn't have any rhubarb. Hollar at me if you need anything, especially if you want me to be the guinea pig for any of your taste tests! Well I wouldn't want to have anyone here trying to lose weight have to do it.(I gave up on loseing weight when cheescake is around!) See ya soon. Thanks, Big Mike:dancefool:
  6. Folks, I have a large tent that I am more than willing to set up if anybody wants to camp here for Maintenance Day. If anybody wants to share it that's fine also. This thing is about the size of a Holiday Inn. Actually, it will sleep 4-6 people comfortably. I'm going to let the first person who responds to this thread use it and then it is up to that person if they will be able to share it or not. Do NOT send me a PM about it, I want it to be completely transparent so the first person who responds gets to use it. I will have it setup by the pond before you get here. Feel free to use it Friday and Saturday night if you plan to stay that long.
  7. OK Folks, We haven't had a good practical type joke in a while....so I'll be the typical culprit and start this one. As many of you know this last weekend down in NC Bobbie (Sleeperhawks Mechanic) and I got our inking done for the St. Judes Donation drive we had. Lonna and I drove the wagon down to NC as the weather wasn't going to permit the bike. We stopped for fuel and I found a "Gift" for Lewis. I thought he might be showing up and I was going to give it to him there....we'll he couldn't make it ....but the "Gift" was still in NC. So now what I'll tell you all what, a bit of an enigma for Lewis. Lewis now has to catch up with his "Gift" as it is now starting a trek of sorts around the country. You see, this "Gift" will be continually changing hands at M&E and such. The person that travels the farthest, on 2 or 4 wheels will take the gift with them to their home. Only to take it to the next M&E they go to where it will then continue on, until Lewis is at one of the M&E's that it makes it to. I also want to add that this is strictly voluntary for folks to participate in. If you dont want the responsibility of having it, then please dont take it. This is all in fun and I dont want this to be a burden on anyone. I wont devulge what the "Gift" is, but I can guarantee you that he will love it. Now what I want to do is let everyone, including Lewis know who has the "Gift" David Duquette AKA Riderduke has it in his posession in Virginia. The next M&E Dave gets to is where the "Gift" will be. When the "Gift" changes hands, either the person that handed it off or the recipient will then post in this thread who has it and where it's located. So now all the pressure is on you Lewis, you have to hunt down your "Gift" and nobody is to tell you what it is. You'll just have to go get it to find out....happy hunting my friend
  8. Foremost Insurance Company gave me two free passes to the race so I went up yesterday and watched the race. First time seeing a race in person. Really enjoyed it. It's awesome to see how quick those bikes accelerate down the straight away.
  9. I went to the Great Southern Cycle Expo in Jackson(MS) Saturday. As expected, it was 85% H-D but I started out parking next to an '07 RSV and there was an '05(I think) a few spaces away. As I walked in there was another '07 by the gate and another super clean '05 not far away. BUT, as I was leaving I passed the first Midnight that I have seen in person. WOW! I'm not usually into black bikes (even tho my other bike is an '06 Roadie Midnight) but there is something about the way the Midnight RSV puts it all together. It's hard to believe that sales were so slow that they stopped the Midnights in '07.
  10. Found this 04 for sale on another site, I don't know if this person posted his bike on this site or not. http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/messages/?start=Start+Reading+%3E%3E
  11. I'm ready to send to the next person but my searching has not come up with any results. Thanks
  12. The Kawasaki Voyager price is now posted on their web site. $16,899 - $17,459. Its sounding better and better. I will see it in person in Feb, in Chicago at the show. I really think the one at the shows is not the final version, but we'll see.

  14. Ok Riderduke posted a M&E in VA on the 6th of Dec. We need someone to ride in a car from somewhere farther then SC. Gotta get someone from up North preferably. Since whoever comes the farthest gets to take dragonriders gift with them. So come on folks someone in PA maybe or Maryland would be good. Maybe even a WV person could make it. Well it's just a thought. Thank you for your time.:banana: Margaret
  15. To all the new members and lurkers..... JUMP ON IN THE WATER IS FINE !!!!. I recently joined the group and was very reluctant on chimming in with the group, didn't know anybody. I finally posted a question about risers and man was I surprised at the response I got. Everyone seemed to have my best intrest in mind and that made me feel very comfortable, being Im not the most out going person
  16. The weather has been beautiful here the last few days and been going for some rides ..witch I brought along my camera...if I bring a person for a ride this is where I usually go ...little winding road with a great veiw!
  17. Please join me in congratulating Poledar (Bill Darling) on the great news of his engagement and upcoming wedding. For so many of us, our love of riding is only enhanced by a person that we love sharing our joy. I'm very happy that Bill has found that special person. I hope she joins our site and becomes a part of our VentureRider family.
  18. I have a Zumo 550 and have it paired with my Blackberry. I have the Nolan helmet wired with the J&M headset. The problem is although I can hear the person they can not hear me when I speak. Any ideas?
  19. I logged on to be the 38th person on line this evening. Is that the lowest number we have had on line ever?
  20. A person could be washing their scoot after a beautiful two hour ride along the water. Then with soapy hands, this person could try to roll the bike ahead to finish washing the front wheel. Then, the kickstand could get caught on this person's jeans. Then, the soapy hands could slip and this person could watch with amazement as his scoot gently falls down!! I suppose this could happen........
  21. First off let me stat that I take the blame for the meeting at Pops this last Saturday. As for the setting and being together. I went down in person to set things up for Rose Bud and make sure they would be able to take us So I went down on Saturday 5 2008 to confirm with them in person as for the group meet I talked to Lauren up front and asked if we could be seated out on the patio as a group and be together. She said we do not take reservation but that part she could handle for us with no trouble at all She took all the information and I gave her Rosebud number and said if there is any problem give Rose Bud a call So I asked again before Peg & I left will there be any problems with this and I was told everything will be ready.. I called again on Friday 11 2008 to make sure things were still on schedule for us to be on the patio as a group of 30 or more members and I was told by the management that it was all taken care of and they were ready for us and would have extra staff on hand this coming Saturday at 12:30PM They also told me they already talked to Rosebud on Thursday and things were in order. So needless to say it dint go as planed they were not set up for us, they split the group up we were not allowed to eat on the patio, yet they stated on their web site to enjoy the patio if weather is permitted and on top of that the management talked to me rudely in person Saturday saying they had no means of taking care of our group. So if this was the case why was I told THREE different times this was no problem for them-Two times in person and one time over the phone...So any blame is coming I take it due to the fact I told Rosebud I would go over and set things up for her in person. So I'm am sorry for any trouble this may have caused anybody and sorry I dint get to meet everybody there as some left early. Buddy Hello Ron. I appreciate the comments. Feedback, both positive and negative, is certainly welcome. I'm not sure where the miscommunication was with the group being set up. I can assure you, I will find out. I can only offer my apologies that it happen. Due to seating inefficiency, we do not take reservations. We did know your group was coming but could still not designate tables for your group. Those are daily requests made by not only yours, but by many organizations that we would never be able to physically accommodate. We are working to add to kitchen capacity for serving on the patio area in the near future. This will definitely help with the seating problems. I am sorry you experience was not what you expected. That is never our intention and I would like to some how make this up to your group in the future. if there is something we can do to make this right, I would be more than happy to discuss further. My contact information is attached. Thank You, Marty Doepke General manager POPS
  22. This past weekend we went to a Kitefest in Westchester, Ohio. It was in the Voice of America park. Here are some photos, I think it was better being there in person. There were some very large kites. They even had professional teams that coordinated music with their performance. Peggy
  23. Don things running pretty smoothly around here, so I had to come up with something for you to think about. Curious if there is any interest, or if it was possible to have a button that would send someone an email/pm notification that someone posted a question in a thread. SO you could hit this button and notice will go out to that persons email, similar to the Delphi forums. Occasionally someone will post a comment/suggestion in a thread and you may post a question to that person but that person may never come back to that thread to see the Question. Just an idea and yes I know I could send them a note, but others may be interested in the reply. BRad
  24. For those who follow first aid changes; there has been some problems with the new recommendations on the Red Cross pages for the "lay person" as opposed to the professional rules for first responders. For the lay person the new thing is for only chest compressions for adults and 30-2 for children. Go to your local Red Cross for the latest info. The older you get the more you need first aid training. Rod
  25. I said long ago that Harley might do well to build a touring bike around the VRod engine. I expect they will do so at some point but at least one person got tired of waiting. Here is what he came up with.
