Went to a lunch meeting with a pastor friend. When I pulled into the parking lot at the taco shop, there was a RSMV sitting there - mirror image of mine. The pastor stepped out of the restaurant with a huge smile on his face. The bike was his! He traded his 800 Suzuki on a 2003 RSMV with only 12,000 miles. About a month ago, I invited his wife to try out the pillion on my Venture - now look what happened! Guess the fun is infectious. I told him about this great site and figure he will join pretty quickly. Reckon you guys can stand another Baptist preacher? Lynn

I own (and love my) VStar 1100 Silverado. I have been seriously considering an RSV upgrade because I want to spend a lot of my future on the road smelling all those roses I never took the time to sniff earlier in life. However, as I move into my seventies in a couple of years, I wonder if I will be that comfortable on this big steed. So, another option might be to keep my current scoot, and go with a GoldWing Trike or an RSV Trike. (Frankly, all the goodies plus reverse give the GW the lead in my thinking.) The question I have is: What is touring like on a Trike? Is it as enjoyable/comfortable as on a 2-wheel RSV or GW? I know it is different and certainly not the ‘rush’ one gets from leaning through the twisties. But will I find it fun and at the end of a day of riding will I be as comfortable as I would be on an RSV or will I be wondering why I am not in a cage? I really want to ride, but I want it to be fun and enjoyable at the end of the day. Am I asking too much? Oldsalt

Well some of you know that my wife and I spent a bit of time getting our scuba open water certifications. The classes were fun, but a lot of work. we completed our open water (meaning we can dive up to 130 feet deep) about 3 weeks ago. We went on our first real dives week before last on vacation. What a thrill. We took 4 dives from a boat and one shore dive over a three day period. The fish and coral we saw were amazing - sea turtles, moray eels, zebra eels, star fish, sharks, and more fish than I could name. One of the real thrills was petting and holding an octopus. The dive master signaled for us to sit still a minute and he swam away about 15 feet and came back with an octopus with a head about the size of a dinner plate. Got to hold it. Absolutely amazing. It was incredible being 90 feet below the surface and able to see 200 feet away with perfect clarity. I cannot wait to get underwater again!

Anyone traveling in Southern Ohio, this weekend? One of the biggest Oktoberfests in the nation is going on in downtown CIncinnati. There is food, Beer, German music and dancing. Ron and I will probably be there at least two nights. It really is fun. Of course, the chicken dance will be very popular. Yama Mama

Everyone stay safe down there in TX. Ike isn't gonna be a nice storm at all. They said it's pushing water up into FL, AL, MS, and LA which can't be much fun. Hope it does something they aren't calling for and weaken some before hitting you. Margaret

OK I haven't even successfully ran one M&E yet but we're off to a good start. I want to start on the next one before the snow falls (I hate the sound of that!)... HD final assembly plant is here in York. I thought it would be fun if we had an M&E that includes the HD factory tour. Imagine a bunch of Yamahas lined up at the HD plant! I suppose someone could turn that around on us, but it could be fun. This would have to be October or later as my August and September are getting booked! Who's in??

Just got back with over 1000 miles under my butt in 73 hrs. From home to Spillville Ia, House on the Rock, Wi, Wisconsin Dells, Eau Claire Wi, visited grandkids in Eau Claire, then around Lake Pepin on the Mississippi, both sides, Red Wing, Lake City and Wabasha, then to Rochester, Mn, Owatonna Mn, Sleepy Eye, Mn then the quickest way home as it was getting late. Never before tried this, Venture performed flawlessly, I didn't tried to kill on some uphill starts, and redlight goofs. Had lots of fun trying to get a motel room this weekend around here, as Sturgis riders, both coming and going were filling most motels along the interstate. Had lots of fun. Daryl

I've noticed a LOT of concern for the soft thrust split washer on 2nd gear (and rightly so). Rather than take a chance on wasting a motor, why couldn't we just skip 2nd (except when in a tight) since there's power to spare? I realize that it takes a lot of the fun out of riding, but replacing the motor isn't much fun either. Just a thought.......

In addition to posting the stats: How many, furthest distance, who really won the trailer (two different names have been posted), the biggest question is... Who did you recruit to host next years ralley???? Or did you have so much fun doing this one http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/lol6.gif that you are going to jump back into the pit and do next years event also?
