  1. Well I'll be missing the Meet again this year but this time its my right knee. Doing a MRI on June 3 . I messed it up when I was changing out a water pump on a cat motor in a dump truck, move a way my knee was not intended to move and something popped bummer...... I was going to ride up with Snarley Bill & Roadkill and maybe some of the other family members next week, but there's always next year....I hope. Everyone have fun and eat plenty food for me and send some photos of the pond monster too..... Buddy
  2. Victoria Stafford, better known as Tori, was last seen leaving Oliver Stephens School on Wednesday April, 08, where she is a Grade 3 student. Her parents reported her missing at around 6 p.m. that night. The family of missing eight year old Tori Stafford are planning a charity motorcycle ride to raise funds for psychiatrists and psychologists. 'Tori's Ride Home' is planned for May 2 leaving the Zellers parking lot in Woodstock and ending at Southend Appliances with registration starting at 11:30. I believe that if you're not heading to Bob's M&E and are close enough to participate and show your support, you should. This family has been severely traumatized by the abduction of their girl.
  3. [ame=http://www.vimeo.com/4116035]"Moore" Southeast Kentucky Memories on Vimeo[/ame] Nice Ride down to SE Kentucky yesterday resulted in a project from the heart for my dear friend Dennis Moore. He is the cousin, supporter and promoter to the up and coming Vernon Lee Moore who we are on the process of shhoting some music videos for (see my test video for SE KY Blues). I had the pleasure of taking a 3 hour ride down to the old family farm in the SE KY mountains with him today to scout locations. It's a few hundred acres of beautiful river bottom land and straight up mountains. It has been there since the 1700's, and was orginally surveyed by Daniel Boone himself, so lots of history there. There are three old family farm houses in decline now and I wanted to preserve their memory for Dennis. It was apparent on our visit that this was a spiritual place for Dennis, so I put this together just for him. The song Booneville is written, performed (all parts) and copyrighted by cousin Vernon Lee Moore. Since it's family I thought it appropriate to include in this tribute to this special family place. Thanks for including me in your day Dennis, is was a pleasure and an honor to be a part of it. Stay Tuned for more of Vernon Lee Moore!!!!!
  4. If I have it straight, Don goes in for his first surgery tomorrow morning at 11:30am Eastern time. This is just the first step in what could be a long journey for a man that has done so much for all of us. I know that many of you are already praying for Don and his family. But my heart tells me that we can never offer up enough intercessory prayer. Jesus said; And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 So my proposal is simple. Any of you that feel led to do so, please join me in prayer for Don and Eileen tomorow (Tuesday) at 11:30am Eastern. Let's all just take a few minutes out of our day to send up requests to Heaven on behalf of this family. God does hear our prayers and knows our hearts. Thanks so much and God bless you all.
  5. Unfortunately, most of us had not had the pleasure of getting to know Paul yet. He was a new member having joined in January. He and member John Brendel both bought Ventures this winter and both joined our family in January. I am sad to report that Paul has recently passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. This is the email that I received from John. Please keep the friends and family of Paul Polzin in your prayers. The email that I received from John:

  8. No, its not a motorcycle, or a new car, or a new house, but we got us a brand new Grandson..............Remy Austin Cramer, 6lbs even 19 inches............this is the happy family...My sons first child..........that makes 3 grandsons, still waiting on the grandaughter.
  9. "Uncle Don", my mother's brother passed this morning, he was 74. He was the patriarch of my family on my mother's side of the family. He had triple bypass surgery 7 weeks ago and contracted "Mersa" (an infection in his leg where they removed the vein for the bypass). I spent time with him last night, we talked of riding motorcycles, our friendship, my mom and the good times we had together. I wanted to thank him for the many years of friendship, and how thru his wisdom and guidance he made my life better and helped me to be a better man. But before I could utter a word about all that he squeezed my hand and thanked me for "Being there for him". Both of my parents have passed long ago, but I never really missed them as much because there was always "Uncle Don" to tell me what my mom might have said about a given situation or to tell me a story about my mom and dad doing one thing or another. Now, All I have left are the memories, great ones to be sure, But I will miss "that old man" as I called him, and we would both laugh! I am glad he is now pain free and surely he must be riding the big highway in heaven. The picture below is 5 generations of my family on my mother's side taken Thanksgiving Day 2008. I'll miss you "Old Man". Earl and Jean
  10. hey group, just a reminder. we need folks to start registering for the international 2009 rally. we need to get some kind of count to figure t shirts, patches, the last meal, and name buttons. after the holidays the committeee is going to get rolling again. cindy will be coming home from christmas with her family, and i need to keep her busy. lol. so if your sure your going to attend, we would appreciate you registering as soon as possible. at least click on the hub at the top of the venture rider home page, and see what it's all about. thanks, bill
  11. Well what a surprise when this little girl crawled out of the gift bag.............now for a name!
  12. Just wanted to say from our home to all of you, a safe and Merry Christmas. At a time when everything is so commercialized, I always try to remember what is important to us, whether it is the religious significance, family or quiet reflection, I ask that we take a moment to remember those if us are going through difficult times and ask for a moment for them. I have grown to care very deeply for everyone on this wonderful place and consider each of you family. So, most of all on this day I wish you all peace.
  13. Guest

I would like to send to extra special Christmas wishes to Condor, Nadine and family, DKKnight, PrincessM and family, Rocket, and Jercoupe and Yamahamabev for all the friendships and support theyve shared with me in the last year. 16. Folks, I'm in New Orleans downtown this evening. Looking for a family friendly local-flavor jazz restaurant that is reasonably priced. Any New Orleans folks on here who could guide us to a good local spot? We have a car so can drive somewhere here too. Thanks
  17. Hey all: I am sure many of you are very familliar with the biggest and most successful social networking site on the web, FACEBOOK. Well if you are like me, and you spend many hours on that site, you will be shocked to learn, that with the millions of groups facebook has, there was no Venture group! Actually there was one, for the Venture snowmobile, but not the motorcycles. So, I started one. If you search for Yamaha venture or tour deluxe you should find the group. It is open to all, and I used this site as the website link, so hopefull will just expand the VR family a bit. And of course, all my VR family is welcome to add me to their facebook. Just wanted to get the word out. Hope to see you all round cyberspace! Sonny
  18. As of November 26th, I have once again joined the club of household indebtedness. I closed on the new house and have included a picture of the front and back. I begin moving in on December 1st and being fully into the house by the 22nd and celebrating Christmas with my family in it.
  19. It may be early, but Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Things are going to be hectic with family gatherings so I want to thank everyone, especially Don for this great web site. When I look back on this year and think about all of the wonderful responses for this site when I crashed by bike in Oct. of 2007, I think this is a pretty good place to be. I hope all of you have wonderful gatherings of family and friends. My best to you all and ride safe.
  20. I was wondering what you were thankful for this Thanksgiving? Here is my list, but I am sure I forgot something. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my dog, my health, home, and I cannot forget all the members that I was fortunate to meet this year. I really enjoy this family of motorcyclists and all the friends that I get to spend time with in the chat room. You have made my life much more enjoyable and just plan fun. I love you all. I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving and may God bless you all. Yama Mama
  21. I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local Mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front.. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our Leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born or passed away & have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family.. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing she was safe behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN 'YOUR' WAY
  22. Today was not a very good day for our family. Our dog Lucy died suddenly. Lucy died early this morning, Ron and our son Mark sat with her in her last moments. They chose not to tell me, I was asleep. It is strange how a dog becomes such a part of your life. We had her for 12 years. She was such a beautiful dog, people would stop to comment on her when we were walking her, She used to catch ground moles, and one time she even caught a ground hog in our garage. I believe her great dream in life was to catch a squirrel, unfortunately she never got one. Lucy protected us all these years. We always knew when some stranger was in our driveway. And yet she was very gentle, I think she loved everyone. I thought I would share this with you all. I feel such a loss. We still have our dog Cooper. But the loss of Lucy is going to take a while to deal with. Our son and daughter are taking it hard. I just wanted to share this with you. DO not walk by your pet and not acknowledge their presence. Always make the effort to notice them. Their whole life is to get your love and appreciation. Remember them even when you are busy. I will miss Lucy for ever. She was a wonderful friend to us. Yama Mama

This is a personal project that hit close to home for allot of us when one of our family is down. I hope this doesn't offend any one that I posted it here but I just wanted to get the word out to the people who do the most for anyone involved with the VentureRider.org web site. 24. After 15-1/2 years, sadly I had my German Shepard Max put down this morning......... Poor old guy had just gotten too bad with his hips and health for him to be comfortable any more. It was with a very heavy heart that this was done. But I know it was for the right reasons, still doesn't make it any easier. Had to do the same with his mom about 4 years ago. This time tho, no family with me, alone to "take care of it". Gonna be a rough few days. Also gonna be a little quiet around here for awhile. Thanks for listening, Dan
  25. Today we put together about 100 bikes for a dice run. the procedes went to the family of a little girl (8 years old) to help her family pay the bills while they are with her at duke hospital. She is fighting brain cancer. During the ride I thought I was the only yamaha in the group, but at the second stop I soon realized I wasn't. The beautiful road star pulled up behind me. I got a few pics with my camera phone and will post them as soon as I figure out how to resize them. VR site says I can't upload them unless they are under a certain size and I think it is just over. Talked to the owner and his wife about the site so who knows, maybe they will come and visit us. 100 bikes and we raide approximately 3 grand for this little girl and her family. If I had to miss the saint judes ride I guess this is a good excuse. P.S. I dropped my bike coming into the parking lot. Lady in front of me moved over into my line and my choice was to hit her or hit the brakes. Needless to say I chose the brakes and then it was on. gravel doesn't make for good quick stops. no major damage just a few more scratches. Then I proceded to imbarass a few of the harleys when they decided to race the rice burner. When I went into second gear she got scarry strong and picked the front tire up. No more takers after that. I,m broke this week after the charity run but I promise I will send my $5 opps i dropped it fund in next week. David
