  1. At the age of 33 my daughter has decided to go back to school. After 2 years of thinking about it she has decided to continue her education and was going to go to school part time while working, she decided that would take to long to get her degree, so stepped out of her comfort zone, and quit her job of 7 years and enrolled full time. She has 2 children, 4 and 2 years old, so it wont be easy trying to raise a family and go to school full time. Her husband has a great job with no travel so he can help with the kids in the evenings while she studies. She already had 2 years of college but not all of those credits carried over to what she is studying for. She has decided to become a nurse, and after one semester her profs have convinced her to go for RN instead of LPN. She had been acing all her tests and it would only take her 2 years instead of one to do that. The odd part about this is, that she is or was very squeamish about blood and that sort of thing, so it came as a real shock when she told us about it. So finally it looks like one of my kids will graduate from college after all.............That makes me very proud. She is a great daughter and she will make a fantastic nurse.
  2. Well spent a couple nights searching craigslist in Raleigh,Durham area to find my daughter a decent car. I know alot of people might say tuff it out, your on your own or whatever for making such a dumb mistake, ( no comp on insur. policy) but she's still my lil girl. She was just promoted at work and life seems to be going good for her so I couldnt stand by and let this jeopardize her good job. Well I think we found her a good one, found a 2000 Chevy Impala in about mint condition. 129k miles on it for 2850.00 Only thing wrong with it is a small ding in door from a rampid shopping cart. Has new tires, regular maintaince, fresh oil change and service, even a full tank a gas. Tranny fluid looked good and engine purred like a kitten. My daughter called me yesterday as she was driving home and she was on cloud nine. Dad, she said, I thought you were crazy when you said it would work out for the better, there was no way I could see that then. I love you and your the best parents anyone could ask for. I just smiled to myself and thanked the big guy for pulling us out of another dilimma, and thank you guys for prayers and words of encouragement. Looks like Christmas is gonna be OK after all
  3. Okay, so I am new to this site. I am 16 and ride a 1985 Yamaha Venture Royale. I was just thinking that I am probably one of the youngest kids out there who actually have bought one of these themselves. If your son or daughter has purchased a Venture, and they're 16 or younger, let me know:080402gudl_prv:

  6. now i don't know really what to say, but i've been eating on a special made banna split cheesecake. made by the famous sweetnothing-lonna. i was lucky to get my first taste of her cheescake in january'09, when i flew up to mi for brad's end of year m&e. i have let my wife and daughter have one slice each, but the rest of it is mine. or what i should say is left of it. i think i hear my name being called for that last peice of cheescake. my,my,my nothing better than cheesecake for breakfast. thanks again lonna. best reguards don c.
  7. for a new two wheeler for better gas mileage!!!! Also seems that he has converted daughter and grandson to drag racing in the process!
  8. Would like to here peoples opinions of a bike for my daughter. She rides a yamaha 400 special now. I was looking at a suzuki boulevard c50 special. This bike looks very nice and when you sit on it, feels like there is nothing under you. For a girl that weighes maybe 110 pounds this is good. Any thoughts on other bikes. Thanks Jerry
  9. So - Tom was teasing everyone a while back about a secret. Maggie (MochaLady) and I are going to pick up our wedding rings this morning! We are getting married next Saturday. My daughter Julia is going to be the best woman. Maggie's friend is going to be the man of honor. Figured to start of non-conventional A small ceremony and no reception as of yet. We are going to save that for later in the summer. Right now we are very busy with work, her new job, and daughter turned 18 and graduated. We are having the ceremony at Fort Sam in the Dodd Field Chapel. Kinda funny as she is working 3rd shift on Friday and then has to come home and get ready for a 10 Am. wedding. I guess next comes the dog, cat, and the rocking chairs! We are even looking to buy a place with a bit of land down near Big Shell in Floresville. How dog-gone domestic is that. Just no more kids and no minivan. JB
  10. RE: Our ride of a lifetime I can't believe we attended Sunday morning services in Rapid City, South Dakota, and just ate supper with our daughter near Washington DC this Tuesday evening. We arrived safe and dry, thank the Lord. For those who know of our ride through the blizzard in Montana, we had a great ride to Olympia, Washington then back to Yellowstone. This time the weather was great! The pass over the Bighorn National Park was awesome - Mt Rushmore - indescribeable! We have a week to spend here with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids. Then we head back to Arkansas via the Blueridge Parkway. The only trouble we've had (other than the blizzard on two Montana passes) is that my Piggybacker XL is EATING TIRES. 6,000 miles plus and counting Missionary Rider
  11. hi all had a great time at kbay's (kreg & janet) yesterday. bbq was alsome. was nice to out in the country again. i was also lucky to give a young lady her first m/c ride. at first she was scared about going. but ponch (david) rode along with the girl's mother. as we started around the block (about 5 miles or so). she started smiling and enjoying the ride. as we got back to kbay's she told me (let's go again). her mom told her (see i told you you would like it ) we did after a short break this time she rode with ponch and i took my daughter with me. took her around the block one more time. she asked me to go farther and faster. had a great time visiting and talking eating and talking. my wife got to meet everyone for the first time. she got to put faces with handles and names. she normaly does't come along 'cause of our 13 y.o. daughter. she and my daughter had a geat time thanks again kreg & janet best reguards/ride safe remember the reason for the hoilday don c.
  12. hi all i have been planing to do this event since i've first heared about it late last year. my 13 y.o. daughter is excited to, and she doesn't ride with me that much. i have been working on the bike off and on the last 5 months to be ready to ride over 1,800 miles one way. reiny and other venture folks have been working hard to put this together. but come on now only 9 people out of 4,000 have only signed up. i understand things happen and gas prices have gone in to orbit. i was expecting at least 50 others to have commited by now. reiny as i've said so before, my daughter and i will be there. i'am still bring that clarion 6-disk cd for a door prize. sorry to have vented, but what i've read about ft. collins rally, i just figured the rally in canada would be even greater. peace to all:225: don c
  13. I noticed that there may be some kids at the Kitchner Rally. We are also bringing out two with us this time. Its going to be our summer holiday. Hopefully they dont change their minds. Our son Tyson is 15 and daughter Courtney is 11 (going on 16). They will spend most of the time at the water park and things. Any others taking the wee ones?
  14. Told my daughter I was going for coffee....... I ended up going fishing with her jeep Drilled the hole ...Yikes only 7 inches of ice....... What the heck... The jeep is still standing on the ice so I fished the next 5 hours... Yes I did catch fish but nothing too talk about Long Coffee break I hope my daughter doesnt see this photo. Day before a Ford F 350 went thru the ice:doh:
  15. Rode up to the gas station to get fuel, not a soul at Bridgeton except for counter person.. She commented too about how quite it is.. Quite,, real quite, to quite,, somethings up... Rode back to hangout at corner, place is never without at least 4 sleds and always another gearhead to yack at - especially on a weekend nightnight like this.. Not a soul.. Rode over to the red barn on Apple Ave,, apparently everyone has abandoned the planet cause NO ONE is there.. Came home, called my daughter in Manhatten to see how Med School is going... Said she couldnt talk right now cause,,,, something about a bowling party with her friends from Queens or something.. Called my other daughter in Greenville SC and her roommate told me that she was at a Bowling party with her boyfriend.. Something REALLY strange about all this is I have never known my kids to be bowlers.. Yes,, I took them bowling a couple times when they were little but they never ever showed any sign of particularly liking the sport... hmmmmmm 'Puc
  16. I recently got the best Christmas present of my life. My daughter, who I knew was special, got invited by Duke to take her ACT at the age of 12. This didn't suprise me since they have been scouting her for a couple of years. I took her for the test last month and waited patiently for the results. I was expecting a 14-18 for a score and was just thrilled that she had taken the test. She got her results last week and scored a 28!! Her guidance counselor was amazed and said in all of his years (he was my teacher in 7th grade also) he had never seen any 12 yr old score higher than a 22! Anyone know the implications of this? Maybe in a few years I can get a new Venture and name it "College Fund"? Sorry for the bragging, just a "proud pop". Curt
  17. Ok we woke this morning with almost a foot of snow and both of us having the day off so what else could we do but go out and have fun.....I hear that doing donuts is even better in the snow. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!! We already have and now were inside warming up Jessie and Jackhttp://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z157/jackjess4/th_snowfun006.jpg This is Jack and our oldest daughter Becky
  18. Well, George the Christmas tree is outside and the ornaments packed away. My daughter named the tree, her first live tree. Always had fakes because the ex hated the needles and claimed to be allergic. The first things on the tree were new ornaments purchased by daughter, Maggie, and I. We each picked out an ornament that seemed to best represent ourselves. Daughter - a penguin. Maggie-an angel. Myself - I simply hung a certain pewter bell. It represented to me the start of a new chapter in my life. So, thanks to all of you here for being a part of it. JB P.S. - last nights VR chat was a blast. We now have candles for guests that are both unique and aromatic!!
  19. I was a bit Bummed out today and a member cheered me up with a phone Call Lowell..... You are The Greatest here's a Big :bighug:from me and my daughter
  20. I dont know who to thank but , The 15th when I woke up It was my 45th birthday and as I turned on the comp I saw an email from Venturerider. It was a birthday greeting. It was the only one I received that day . Guess everyone in my family was to busy. Now my daughter and wife were right on time , but my siblings must have forgotten. Anyway thanks agian.....Fred
  21. We welcomed our fourth grandchild yesterday! Cutest little girl ever. Aurora (we suggested Borealis as a middle name but that was shot down) was born about 10:00 yesterday morning. She is 8 lbs 6 oz, 20 inches long and has a head full of hair. Both mom and daughter are doing great. She is our only granddaughter thus far. Does this mean we get to spoil her double??
  22. My oldest son and his wife just got the call from the adoption agency out of Kansas City, for the 'go-ahead' to travel to Viet Nam and get my new grandson Ethan. They will be traveling in a group with other adoptive parents. They already have a 4 year old daughter, (Ellie) and a 2 year old son, (Evan) of their own. Ethan and Evan are a month apart in age so we are refering to them as 'the twins'.
  23. No not motorcycle #18. No not wife # 18. Not child #18. #18 grand child. Daughter and grand daughter are both doing great. Gran pa is happy, another excuse to go out for a ride. Grand kids all want rides. My daughter wouldn't let me take the new arival out for a ride, I assured her the side bag would hold her quite well. Maybe she thought it was a little cold, We do live in North Dakota. By the way, #19 is on the way. I don't know, if my kids are just all very fertil or if they just enjoy the horivontal bop? How many can top this at 55 years of age?
  24. Just wanted to post a photo of them This year My daughter and I had the pleasure of meeting Gary and Lesie at Don's Maintenance Day T
  25. Honest I did. I was in Cadillac watching the sun come up over the hills and the fog racing across the grass as to try to get away from the sun. The temp was in the low 60's and my daughter and me (jessie) we in a small enclosed camo hut in our lawn chairs waiting for the sight that would make our hearts race and our bodies start to shake....This was the opening day of Michgan Youth Hunt. with the sun cutting across the hills and the tempature starting to rise we were able to see what we had sighted in the gun for but he was to far away. With in a few minutes what we saw 2 fields away was walking right toward our blind. so with camera in my had and a 30/30 in my daughter hand she was able to take her first buck!!!!!!!!!All though this was only a spike he was still in full velvet. So the girls weekend out hunting proved to be a great weekend. We had only left yesterday and we are home tonight and the deer is at the processor .and the video to show to us..... [ame=http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z157/jackjess4/?action=view&current=Picture021-2.flv]Video of the shot that took the deer and the blind - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting[/ame] So I hope that everybody had a great ride and BBQ and I hope that everybody had a great day like we did...
