  1. Ok, this wasn't supposed to happen, yet! Radio has been on the blink for a week or so, working occasionally, not at all others, for minutes at a time.... Took off seat last night to inspect cables under the backrest, all seemed fine there. Rode in to work today, ran like a champ, radio still on the fritz. Riding home tonight, have gone maybe a mile and boom, it dies while in motion. No warning, just conks out. Thought it might be fuel, though I filled recently, switch to reserve, nada. In fact, no lights, NOTHING! Oh except of course, the radio control has power! What the hell? The only thing with any lights/power at all is the radio control on the handlebar. Otherwise, it's dead. Looked at fuses under seat, all are fine, none blown. Didn't get a chance to look at other fuses. Had it towed to local dealership. Just when the weather had warmed up too. Ideas anyone?
  2. For all you hobby fliers. http://www.flixxy.com/rc-plane-b29.htm
  3. Hello, my bike radio control channel processor µPD17718GC /527 is broken.I need all radio control YAMAHA MODEL NO.ER-1129V 4XY-88132-00 or UPD17718GC/ 527 processor,to appeal to someone for help,I am from Europe, Lithuania.
  4. Has anyone else had problems with the intercom and radio on their Venture? I have an 07 and I have recently had the intercom system squeel and chirp. When this happens none of the controls for the radio or intercom work. I have to unplug the head sets and turn the bike off in order to use the radio and intercom (it seems like it resets adn all is good for a while). I have also had problems with the radio with the only control that works in the volume none of the other buttons work. I have not had a chance to take it into the dealer yet. Just looking to see if others have experienced this.
  5. My cruise control won't engage. The lights all come on like they are supposed to, but it won't engage. I found the thread about the cruise control and a possible vacuum leak. It seem like I saw one where a high idle rpm after the engine gets warm was also because of a vacuum leak. I am having both problems. After the engine gets warmed up it idles at between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Could these be related or caused by the same leak? Thanks for any help you can give me. Jackie

  7. Ok, so heres the thing, My father built a custom out of an 83 Venture http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=170870#post170870 he bartered out of his brother in-law, in the process he took off a bunch of heavy stuff and said I could sell it since I am in between jobs as long as I put the money towards remodeling my house.. I sold the radio amp assembly but the guy needed the handlebar switch.. I cannot imagine how big of a pain in the ass it would have been for me to disassemble the fairing and dig into the wiring harness to get this switch off intact, but my Dad did it and only asked that the guy pay another 20 bucks.. what a guy! Now I have sold the rear shock, compressor, and suspension control to this guy building a custom in Shreveport La. http://71.18.95.71/ and he wants the female plug that goes with it, you should also know that this has taken me untold hours of my time between posting the ad, posting it on e-bay, shipping the item, negotiating on phone calls and e-mails about this particular part I sold for 150$... I assured the guy I would try to get the plug(s) for his project off of the donor bike but I also told him it may be too much to ask to try and get the connecting wire as it may be entwined in the wiring harness like the scenario with the radio... So my question is... Does anyone here have any helpful information on the electronic air suspension control assembly? He needs the connecting wire and Plugs between the control and the compressor.. Please advise Oh and BTW I have the rear bags with hardware (no key), front and rear fender(s), handlebars and a few other items for sale as well...
  8. Dropped my bike on the left side Monday night. Nothing serious, just one of those things. It has rained for the last couple of days, so today was my first chance to ride it. Cruise control isn't working now. Light comes on and goes right back off. Could that have anything to do with dropping it. My lunch break is over, so I can't respond till this evening, but I sure could use some help. Thanks,
  9. OK, I've gone through the whole system. I was getting an E1 & E4 error. I've soldered the connections in the control unit, traced every wire for continuity, relay test was done, was able to get the pump to spin independently, but still, the system won;t work! It reads the psi, but when I press to increase or decrease, I hear the relay and the solenoid click but nothing happens. I've gone through every step in the service manual. What next? Does this mean that the control unit is faulty? At some point during this exercise, I was able to decrease the pressure using the CLASS unit, but had to manually inflate.... What's next?
  10. I went to set the cruse control today and it did not work. I made sure the switch was on but nothing. I turned it "the switch" off. I don't think I have ever had it in the off position because it really sticks out in off. Any way, I turned it back on and the lights came on for a second than back off. Did the same over and over. The last time I did it I left it off for a mile or so. Turned it back on and this time all is working. Go figure, maybe the switch went bad or is going bad?
  11. I had a full feature Cruise Control on a previous BMW touring bike. I have a Throttle Rocker and Vista Throttle lock on my 84 Venture now. Has anyone adapted a speed variable cruise control to their bike? If so, what kind?
  12. :(There have been numerous discussons about radio problems. Mine is apparently not resolved with the usual cleaning and greasing of the connections under the faring. My issues seem to be at the "brain" as some have called it. It used to jump all over the place for no ryme or reason and now it is just locked in on one station and only the volume control works. No other feature works. My questions is this. Has anyone had to buy just the control module with the LED readout, or just the inside "brain"? If so, how much was it and do you have to buy it from a dealer? I'm concerned this is going to cost a real bundle. Any comments are certainly welcome. Thanks
  13. I'm looking for a used radio control unit. The toggle switch only works in the up position. I tried cleaning and re-plugging the plug at the back of the radio. No dice. Must be the contact in the control unit. If anyone knows of a crashed '99 and up Venture please let me know. Thanks, Tony
  14. I posted this in "Wanted to Buy" section, but I figured I would take up everyone's time by posting it in here too. I am in need of a radio control housing for a 2nd gen. Mine has cracked where the mounting screws are and is getting very shaky. If anyone has one that they would part with, with or without the control, please let me know. Thanks
  15. Hey Eck , first off "Thanks" on informing me of the linear actuators . I finally finished the mods to the "BEERCART" , other than securing down the aux battery inside , installing one limit switch and paint . I can now manually control down pressure with push button control until I get the limit switch installed . Now I need a robotic arm , that will fetch me a beer from the cooler and hand it to me on the scoot ! Got an extra one laying around at work ? Now I can raise/lower the lid and lock the lid to the "BEERCART" remotely . Call me lazy , but having to lock and unlock 2 locking mechanisms located directly under the spoiler was getting difficult at times . Project cost me around $165.00 . Linear actuator is rated 200lbs. with key-fob remote control . I made the "Bell-crank" out of steel , 3/4" axle and 1 1/2"x 1/4" flat stock . Total weight less than 8 lbs. . I place a lawn mower battery inside the "BEERCART" as it's sole power source with parallel wiring from the scoots battery via a 2 prong connection plug to recharge the battery while "on the go" or with use of a battery tender in storage . The linear actuator draws less than 2 amps under load . Circuit is protected by fuse link . I will also install a pin puller to release the actuator , just in case a malfunction occurs . Here's some pic's . BEER30
  16. Hey All - Last week I picked up an 02 RSV Midnight Edition that was involved in a low speed wreck. It messed up the forks pretty good and some left side plastic. Other than that it looks like it's in great shape! I think that I have the plastic back in order, my new forks should be here on Monday, front fender on Tuesday. But the one part that eludes me is a volume control knob for the radio. Does anyone have out there have one? I'd be happy to pay for it. Looking at the parts book, I cannot just buy the knob from the dealer. Here's a pic of where I'm at with the repair... http://www.tomatojoe.com/Personal/no-nuthin-02.jpg I hope to have this sucker on the road this weekend! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Joe
  17. Hope someone can help me. I removed my radiator on my 89 venture royale to get to the starter. I cleaned up the starter's interior in regards to the forum for dragging starters. The starter and radiator work perfectly but now the cruise control doesn't work. Any ideas? the indicator light on the handel bars work and the set and resume lights come on and then go off as normal when I turn on the cruise but I can't set the cruise. I checked all the switches on the brakes and clutch. help! paru
  18. Does anyone know how to get to the rear Remote Control Unit. My PTT button fell off and I got my hand on a new Remote Control Unit. Now I need to install it. I know the trunk has to be removed to get close to it.
  19. I recently purchased an 83 Venture, which has an after-market cruise control installed, and the only info I have about it is its name: Markland. I have tried to find any info I can about the company, but so far I haven't had any luck online. I was wondering if anyone has heard of Markland cruise control systems, or where I may locate a wiring diagram, or just a website/phone number. This system uses magnets attached to the rear brake rotor, with a sensor mounted on the rear caliper bracket. the control on the handlebars says MARKLAND across the top, and has 3 buttons, SET, RES, and ^OFF. I am really hoping it's just a loose wire, or a bad vacuum line, but before I start I wanted to get more familiar with how it is installed. Any help is really appreciated!
  20. how would you like to encounter these potholes on the road?? http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i251/rella_photo/test/pothole1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i251/rella_photo/test/pothole2.jpg This is actually a speed control device...look at the last picture
  21. I noticed tonight that my cruise control will cancel if I put the foot brake pedal on. However, if I pull in the clutch or if I apply front brake the cruise will not release. I thought I would ask the knowledgeable group if anyone has experienced this or would have a pretty good idea where to start looking. Will get out the service manual tomorrow and have a look. Thanks.
  22. I have a 2001 RSV, I cant get my cruise control to set it will come on when you turn it on but it will not set when i push the button. Has anyone know what maybe going on with the cruise control. Thanks.
  23. I am trying to mount a Yeasu FT 10sr, it's an amateur radio. It consists of a control head and a box that contains the actual radio that is separated by a cable. I can not find a good spot for the box. It is about 4 inches square and 2 deep but needs room in front for the antenna connections. The cable between the two boxes is not quite long enough to go back to the trunk if I have the control head mounted high on the handle bars. I may be able to get it into the trunk by moving the control head further down the bars but was wondering if anyone knows another spot that would accommodate the box? There doesn't appear to be any room under the seat or behind each side cover. Anywhere else where there's some space?
  24. I got this email today and did Snope this myself and Snopes does concur. (I don't trust when an email says "Snopes says this is true.") Here is the link: Snopes I assume this would hold especailly true for the cruise control on our bikes! -----Original Mes------- You may have seen this before but a reminder never hurts! I wonder how many people know about this ~ A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and totaled her car. A resident of Kilgore, Texas she was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane, and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON. She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain. But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed and take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred. The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor - NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry. The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries. If you send this to 15 people and only one of them doesn't know about this, then it was all worth it. You might have saved a life. NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.
  25. Been reading about a gizmo that sounds a bit too good to be true. Has anyone here tried that TCB (Traction Control Brake) that attaches to you Banjo bolt? Sounds like it might work but I'd like to hear from someone who actually has one installed.
