  1. Just wondering if there might be an interest in a Venture meet sometime in the Spring of 2009? I'm thinking around the Harrisonburg Va. Charlottesville Va area. Some beautiful day rides in the area in the mountains in Va and WVA. I'd be willing to try and locate a hotel that would give us a decent price if there is enough interest. I'm not trying to replace the meets already held on here, just trying to put together one I can actually attend. If you've never been to this part of the country it's truly a gorgeous place.
  2. Attached are the pics the Mechanic took, not quite 1400 this time. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Clay18%20Special%20Event%2008/
  3. just thought i would give st. jude a little help, cuz i really believe in it. folks check out squidleys sticky at the top of the watering hole, and check out dragonriders poll under polls. great cause, and great meet to donate the money. i was there last year with the group and it was quite heart warming. plus you will meet a bunch of great ventureriders. bill :clap2:
  4. Is there someone in the DFW area that is very familiar with the first gen (83)? My 83 has about 39,000 miles on it, seems to be very stock, and I am thinking that a progressive spring / seals update on the front end is about due, along with a Superbrace. But, I would like someone else that has lots of experience with this bike to ride mine to give an opinion! I can ride and meet someone within a couple of hours. Any takers?? Also, is there a group of Texas riders that meet somewhere? Where and when?! Thanks for your help! Steve
  5. won't be long before the 08 eureka springs ar. meet, sept 10th thru the 13th. it is going to be a good one and probably the last one. fantastic rides, even going to stop by the hub for dinner. lots of good folks will be there. any late comers that need info we have a sticky under rides and rallies. for those planning on coming we are having a drawing for the guys and gals, so if you would like to donate a small item for the drawing that would be fine. this meet is totally free , no registration. so all you need is food and gas. i think the host motel is totally full but there is a load of motels and eaterys in the immediate area. looking forward to seeing my old friends and lots of new ones. we have some great rides planned. even though there is a no helmet laws in arkansas bring helmets cuz we may do some riding in missouri, and they have a helmet law. bill
  6. Hey all you members in the Salt Lake City area, I haven't been a member long, but the members back East are putting us to shame! We look downright un-sociable by comparison. I am willing to organize a Meet - n - Eat if I get some feedback showing interest from members in the area. If you would be interested in having Meet - n - Eat's once every couple of months at different locations around the Wasatch Front and possibly the Wasatch "back" (places like Heber, Park City, Morgan) let me know and I will agree to try and set em up. Paul 83 VR Gold:lightbulb:
  7. Thanks to all the wives that came for breakfast this morning. I really enjoyed meeting each of you. Guys, you have some nice wives...bring them more often. Please put feedback on here if you would be interested in more 8:30 AM meet and eats. Will have pics posted as soon as Rick finds the book to his camera. For those of you who could not make it, hope to see you there next time. There were six wives present. Hope to see you again soon, Dakota
  8. just got back from pro bass. great spur of the moment meet and eat, and boy did we eat. got part of the 2009 committee there and have a few new ideas and got some samples of rosebuds name badges they are awesome. great job rosebud. colesgrandpaw is working on a special project concerning the different things to see and maps to get there for people who want to take off in groups and sight see. i'm going to try to find some one to make up a dvd of the whole meet and put to music so every one can have a record of it. like the first eureka springs meet. where you at floyd. rode 470 mi. round trip and sitting here typing and enjoying a few beers. all in all a great day. thanks to all who attended. had a great time. bill :clap2:
  9. One of the hardest things to do is schedule only 1 week of vacation time around a meet or rally. I truly wish we could make them all but many people like myself have to pick and choose. Usually it is those events within a days ride. I know there are many people who show up and many more who would like to have attended. On the way back from Asheville we meet a couple who are members from Ohio. They view the site and read many of the post. It's a small world out there. Maybe someday we can join the 50K a year club and ride.If you sponsor a meet and eat keep up the good work. Many of us would love to come but until then we appreciate the pictures and all the excitement from those who did.
  10. Leaving from SE Pa to Asheville tomorrow 8am, probably get a room around Wytheville Va for the nite, anyone want to meet or ride along? Craig
  11. Saturday August 2nd we had an impromptu M&E with Bubber and his wife. We met up in Duluth, MN during the Maritime Festival which feature 3 wooden tall ships. My wife took a few photos and posted them on her photo blog. http://elisabethviola.blogspot.com/2008/08/duluth-tall-ship-trip.html Cheers,
  12. First off I want to say I had a blast at the 3 State Meet and Eat. It was good to meet with some of you and exchange ideas. I spoke to one of you that had a black RSTD. Harley pipes, driving lights and additions on the air boxes. Bike was setup for solo riding. If anyone knows who this is send me a message I'm sure I would like to trade ideas with him again sometime. Sorry, but I am terrible with names. Anyone else that wants feel free, I work 4 on 4 off so I am always looking for people to ride with. Thanks!
  13. Although to briefly as he was getting ready to go on stage and do a show, I diod get to meet Mr Gentlemen George! The name holds up very nice fella and put on a great family show, really enjoyed it. See Dan more proof I do exist!
  14. don't forget the eureka springs meet is coming up sept 10th through 13th. the weather is usually perfect that time of the year and it will be a great meet. the eidelweis may still have a couple of rooms left, there are motels ajaceint to the edelweiss if it is full. we will ride by the hub. bill
  15. I made it back safe. It was nice to meet a few people and it was a nice but hot ride over and back. It had to be quick, for both myself and my friend John. John's wife is in a nursing home and he travels quite a bit. He wanted to get back in time to spend some time with her before he leaves for a couple of weeks on Tuesday. I have Grandkids over this afternoon and tonight and my wife wanted me to be here to help. Looking fwd to the next one. Oh by the way the food was great.
  16. Well we're home safe and sound from our trip from LaGrange, KY to Sault Saint Marie, MI. and back! Great ride, beautiful country and great weather for the most part, nice and cool up there!! Got to meet Venturerider Gentlemen George and even got to hear him perform a concert in the park by the Soo locks, it was awesome!! It was a great trip, Deb did great on her RoadStar and Carson sat on the back of the Venture and text the boyfriend the whole trip! Gonna rest now will post up some pics and more trip details soon..... Miss y'all, sorry I missed the KY/IN meet and eat, but I can't wait to get back in the mix and see what's been happening...
  17. I am throwing out an invitation to a meet and eat. I have not met anyone in the site, so it is high time to get it done. We will meet up at Jaliscos on 104th, a little west of I-25. Look for Red Lobster or Wingmans, it is in the shoppette west of them. It is the best Mexican in the Denver area. Reasonable prices and great food. Anyway, I offered to buy Bubber dinner while he is in town...so I hope he shows. The rest of you can just wander in...no need to RSVP. We will be gathering around 5:30PM. See you there...just look for the big guy...
  18. Last Wednesday 7/16/08 a bunch of us went to Quaker Steak and Ale bike night in Bloomsburg PA. I saw 3 other 2nd gen Ventures besides mine, but no one around them. Was any of these three members here? This was only 50 miles from my location but I don't know of any members around me. I did get to meet with Craig and his wife earlier in the summer. I would like to get a meet and eat going in north east Pa. I ride with a group that likes to ride and EAT, we usually go out to eat once a week. I ride the only Venture but everyone else rides Yamahas, sometime we pick up a stragler on a Harley. Any one else that would like to join in let me know, I will do my best to get a bunch together. ROY:thumbsup2:

  20. OK guys I am leaving for Colorado in the morning. Stopping in Iowa to meet a fellow biker (nyuk), and then out through Nebraska through the sand hills and then some how some way to get to Denver / Thornton CO. to my daughters and then Tuesday 22nd to meet up with Big John for dinner and a meet and greet near there. Then the following weekend headed home and hopefully meet up with OB-1 out in Wyoming (east side) near the Black Hills and putts around there for a while. then back to Minnesota and Paul Bunyon and the 10,000 lakes for a much needed rest. See ya all when I get back.
  21. My wife and I will be Leaving Mountain Home, AR enroute to Penn State University in Williamsport, PA for training. We will be traveling mostly interstate via I-70, I-71, and I-80 through St. Louis, Indianapolis, Dayton, Cleveland, and Akron. I would like to meet some of you and maybe have lunch or supper. Will are traveling on an 86 Venture. Please pray for a safe journey.
  22. Well, my wife (Debbi) and I will be leaving tomorrow morning on our first long bike trip. Leaving Edmonton, Alberta around 7am. Will be going into Regina, Sask. and Rouleau, Sask. where Corner Gas is filmed. The we are off to Billings, Montana, then Butte, and then Great Falls. From there, back up to Canada to Vulcan, Alberta and then home. Now, because of the crappy weather we have been having, we might do Vulcan first and to Rouleau on Sunday. Anyway, just though I would post in case anyone wanted to meet up for coffee alone the way. I won't have a computer with me however, feel free to text me at 780-920-5249 (do not enter a 1 at the beginning because text messaging is not long distance). Don't be shy, text me. Would love to meet some members along the way. Now, lets all bow our heads and pray for some NICE WEATHER. Hope to see some of you soon.
  23. Hi All, The Pork In The Pines website is pretty much done and fully operational. Please use the website to pre-register (no requirement to pre-pay, but it is appreciated) so we know how big a pig to buy. Plus we need to make sure we have enough other food and drinks on hand. (If no one pre-registers we'll just have a rack of ribs and a 6 pack of beer for us.) The website has a very simple registration form and it also has more (and correct) information about Pork In The Pines including area hotel/motels, campgrounds, local businesses (including liquor stores), directions and maps and a contact form to email the planners. Soon we'll get photos up from previous years events. So please check out the web site, register if your coming up to party with a pig!
