  1. You always seemed be a "middle of the road" kinda guy...
  2. Condor owns most of the Ventures in California so you may have difficulty finding other riders ...
  3. I sent a response message to Yamaha.ca regarding my disappointment of the "new 2011 Venture". I wasn't very "nice" with my comments. Here's their response... Good morning. Thank you for your comments, feedback, positive or negative - helps us meet the needs and desires of Yamaha owners. We too are all waiting for a new Tourer and are very aware of the market requirements - I'm afraid the current economic climate and has delayed the introduction of a new touring model for 2011. We have however, introduced the "adventure tourer" Super Tenere XT1200Z which, while not satisfying the need for the luxury tour customer, does illustrate that development is continuing even in these difficult times. As an aside, the XVZ Venture may have a cassette deck, but is widely recognized as an extremely high quality sound and has (since inception) an AUX input to allow playing of any modern audio device such as MP3 etc. Regards and thanks for contacting us! Scott
  4. methinks he knew the title would warrant some very immediate attention... (sure caught mine)
  5. I can't imagine why Yamaha wouldn't put that into the forefront... I mean after all, it goes right along with the "nostalgic" theme of the speedo.... :rotf:
  6. works for me
  7. Too much information!!!
  8. just an FYI... I used to use that "FM modulator" but once I hard wired it, I found that the sound claity was a lot better and I didn't have to crank the volume up quite as high.
  9. what!!! you went out riding today and didn't invite me?? LOL ... like I woulda come... NOT! We tested out the trailer on Sunday on the freeway.... pulls nice and straight.. barely knew it was there. Got it about 2/3 loaded with our gear. We're chompin at the bit to hit the road Saturday morning!
  10. ya... the east is getting all the great weather lately. We've had a pretty nice summer here too but for the most part, the temps have been a bit cooler than normal. I just hope it isn't going to be crappy weather during our holidays Sep 4 - 20th as we are riding out to Sask and then down into the US on the return. Timmins ... wow... I was there a few times... when I was like 10 and 12 years old. We used to live north of Cochrane at a hydro project called Otter Rapids. When the damn was completed, we moved to Cochrane for a few months and then to Sudbury.
  11. Today.... we've had more rain that any other single day in august...ever Today.... we've had more rain than we've had in total all summer Today.... we've had more rain in any one single day since winter of 2005 man oh man is it WET out! Thankfully, it will all pass and be bright and sunny by Thursday!
  12. I don't think any rucus was caused and one of the great things about this site is we can express ourselves. The "trick" is not to take much of anything here personal. as an FYI, I couldn't count the number of times I've done and felt the same.

    I heard Sept 9th
  14. Could you tell me why it is that the more money I make, the less I seem to have?? This has always puzzled me...
  15. Just to add to Goose's comments... as you crack that throttle and the revvs build, you will actually feel it when the power band is reached.
  16. Another "observation" ... my '87 was easier to drive than my RSV insofar as how it handled on the highway and the twisties. The longest I rode that bike was just over 1400 kilometers. Max I've done on the RSV is appx 800 km and I was exhausted.
  17. How do you like it after installing the risers? appx how much height and offset towards you did you get? I know that when I put the risers on my RSV, it made a world of difference.
  18. Well, at 63 I'm finding it becoming more and more of a "chore" to drive a motorcycle, even though I love to ride. When I rode that Wing, I realized this....that driving the RSV was actually a chore... it takes a fair amount of concentration and "work" in comparison to the Wing. The Wing was an absolute breeze to drive...practically effortless in comparison to the RSV. After only one hour on the Wing, when I got back on my RSV I practically lost control of it. It felt so big, heavy and unbalanced. Took me a while to get used to it again. I love the looks of the RSV and it's rider/passenger comfort but when it comes to the effort involved to drive it (in comparison to the Wing), I tell ya... it will make a big difference on those longer trips. Yes, the Wing is far more powerful and that is a big plus but the main thing about them that has pretty much sold me is how easy they are to drive, no matter if it's out on the freeway, country roads, or in the city ... to me it was much, much easier.
  19. This gal is a cop, and apparently an experienced rider yet she is not yet her own person in that she allows someone to dictate to her what she can and cannot do?? And here she is, a cop .... street racing!!! Talk about setting an example! I'm sorry but after some of the recent threads about accidents, deaths, and bad images of bikers I find this whole thing a pathetic example of why such things happen. :witch_brew:
  20. I recently test drove an '03 Wing....actually a couple of times, the first with Nina on the back. Did quite a bit of city, heavy traffic riding and then had it out on the freeway and some back roads. I love the handling, balance, power, stereo, ABS, etc, etc. I could get used to the foot pegs coz every bike I've owned before the RSV was like that. Stock seat is terrible ... my butt was sore in less than an hour... very uncomfortable. Nina does not like the seating position either. Didn't like the positioning of the handlebars...would have to install risers. We're seriously thinking about getting one. It will all depend on the finances.
  21. I'd comment but frankly, I sometimes get tired of commenting on the same thing, over and over again. Having said that, I concur with your "inclusion". hmmmmmm... I just commented, didn't I?
  22. I wonder the same thing ... but it's not so much that .... it's allowing a "new" rider to be able to go out and buy (and ride) one of them. Crotchrockets are, imho, racing bikes that are allowed to be ridden on the street.
  23. Awesome!!! so we're all waitin for the pics and a full report on what you think of it. (well, me at least)
  24. I've been using Bel-Ray 80/90 Hypoid gear oil. I think it cost me about 6 bucks for a quart but then again, I've had it for quite a while. I don't actually measure the amount but that is listed in the manual somewhere I'm sure. How? ... I take the left side bag off so I can get at the fill plug easier. Unscrew the drain plug under the pumpkin and let the old oil drain out (no silly...not onto the floor!!!... into a drain pan LOL). That plug has a magnet so I clean it completely in varsol and re-install it (after the oil has completely drained out). Somewhere in the process I've taken the fill plug out and cleaned it also. I then use a long, thin funnel and slowly pour in the new oil ... when it starts overfilling, I stop, take the funnel out and let it flow. Then I take a small syringe and suck out some of the fluid until it's just at the base of the fill plug threads... then install the fill plug and clean up the mess I made. BTW, that was 3 questions, not a couple.
  25. We use a "French Press" .... simple! http://www.coffee-makers-cafe.com/french-press.html
