  1. Boomer..........who can't remember that he needs to post pictures of all modifications and additions!
  2. It will bolt up, but there is no mount on it for the speedo pickup. However, you could take it to a good machine shop along with your stock rear end and have them machine a mount into it. I actually have such a unit on my 99. The guy I got it from had a machine shop bore the hole and machine the mounting area so it could work. Does a great job. The other option, as I understand it, is to actually swap out the gears between the two housings. I have read a write-up somewhere on doing that. It may have been on the venturers.org website, not sure. Joe
  3. So, just out of curiosity, what does your tach read at the point your rev limiter kicks in? That would pretty much tell us whether it is accurate or not. Joe
  4. Next time we're together we'll have to compare noises, Bill. I'm betting yours isn't as annoying as mine. Hey....mine's bigger than yours!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
  5. Maybe the basket swap will somehow magically make you more appealing!!!:hihi:
  6. The first gen baskets don't even look the same as the basket for the 2nd gen . I had wondered about that myself so I went looking. Saw some pretty good pix on ebay, they are different. Also wondered the same thing about trying one out of a wreck. Actually found one out of a 2005.....but wasn't going to pay the $140 that they wanted for it! Hey! I have an idea.....I'll send you my chirping basket and you send me yours! Maybe we'll get lucky!!! Joe
  7. The wandering around on the road could be your steering head bearings. Mine was doing the same, following every crack or tar snake it could find. Last Saturday I put her up on the lift and checked the steering according to the excellent article in the 2nd Gen Tech Library. It was too loose. Ten minutes later I had it tightened up to where it should be and what a difference! No more wander lust! Joe
  8. Which of the Shinko tires did you get? Do you know the model number? Are they radials or bias? Joe
  9. So....you work over half the year for someone else???? Isn't that called SLAVERY??? I feel for ya....but never fear, we in the USA will be right up there with you before long. Maybe even worse. Joe
  10. The intercom on a second gen will not mute the radio, cb, mp3 player, etc. So I'm guessing it won't mute the GPS audio either. Sorry. Joe
  11. Wagging is normally an indicator that the tongue needs to be lengthened or that there is not enough weight on the tongue. Since you see the wag when it is empty, that may in fact be the case here....may not be enough tongue weight. Is the length of the tongue from the axle to the hitch point at least 1-1/2 times the axle length? That is the general rule of thumb to go by. Joe
  12. You're breaking my heart, SilvrT. I've been waiting to see how yours turned out.....planning on doing the same to mine. But if it ain't going to help....not sure now. Joe
  13. Already had it at 5. Joe
  14. Thanks, Hotrod! Looks pretty good. Joe
  15. No mic mutes or splitter that I know of.....looks like the fairing will be coming off this weekend to start checking connections, etc. Hey, I'm getting GOOD at r&r the fairing! Joe
  16. HALLELUJAH!!!!! Like everyone else has said....I hope and pray that life can once again regain a sense of "normalcy" for you...whatever that is. And that your sweet daughter is blessed with the ability to put this out of her mind and move on with life. None of us has control over what happens TO us in life. However, we can control how we respond to those things. You and Dale have responded in a wonderful and supportive way for Haylie, I'm betting that your love and support, and the support of all your friends and family, are going to help her to be able to deal with all this in a way that is outstanding! God Bless your family!! Joe
  17. Well, my hearing isn't the greatest in the world, but the wife has great hearing. And it still is weak for her too. Would you think that my audio controller is going bad? Or could it be related to the connections? Joe
  18. On my first RSV they were severely cracked and I thought that they just had to be leaking. But, I sprayed some carb cleaner around them while it was idling, no change in rpm or sound. So, they weren't sucking anything in. That's what I'd suggest you try as a test. If the rpm's don't increase, they aren't cracked all the way through. Joe
  19. Hey Ken, thanks for the info, I'll try those settings and see what happens. How is the volume on your intercom? Or do you use it at all? Joe
  20. On our last ride, we checked the direction of the mics before we left just to make sure that they were correct. We both also put the foam cover up to where it is almost touching our lips....still pretty low volume. I crank it clear to the max setting, and we both have to speak really loud to be heard. Not shouting, but right next to it. If I understand what you are saying about checking the antenna, I should tune to an empty AM channel and see how much "white noise" there is, correct? And if there is a lot of such noise then I should try another antenna to see if that makes a diff? Good place to start if I am understanding correctly. Thanks, Joe
  21. Thanks for the links to the aftermarket pumps Goose. If I ever have a pump go bad, I know what I'll be buying.....and it won't be a $200 pump! Joe
  22. The audio system on my 99 just doesn't seem to have enough power through the headsets. I have some of the mid-range (pricewise) J & M headsets, and with the IC at it's highest setting we sometimes struggle to hear each other. In addition, the radio volume seems weak also. At full volume it is still none too loud. I am running Road King pipes, so the exhaust volume isn't the problem. It does seem that the CB has plenty of volume....it'll blow my ears out. Just seems like the audio system doesn't have enough output power. Is this typical of the RSV's? Oh....I forgot to add that when I am playing MP3's through my GPS's player function I can get plenty of volume. Of course, the GPS has a volume control for the output so I can crank it up. One more thing......does the IC on the RSV really NOT have a VOX control? I can't find it if it does.... That seems incredible that an IC system would not include a VOX adjustment. Thanks, Joe
  23. Awesome! You are a rich man, Kurt. Your blessings are evident! And I ain't talkin about money. Joe
  24. Or at least, if you want to stay with the overpriced stock pump, you may want to order from Partshark.com as they have it for $185 (p/n 4NK-13907-00-00). Joe
  25. Glare Stomper works as advertised. Had one on my old GPS....but now have a Lowrance iWay 500c which doesn't need one. Its screen was developed for sunlight conditions. Joe
