    without lower cowlings bike will not run right at highway speeds. I bought 2006 RSV that lowers were gone trust me it won't run right unless you put something in front of air cleaners.

    All I ever run for fuel is ethanol blended 15%. I have a 2006 RSV Midnight. 27,000 miles I have put on, PO 5000, 32,000 total. I have not had any fuel related problems. I try to put stabil in when to cold to ride, Oct. - Apr.. I do not have speedo heeler to correct the error with odometer problem. My fuel mileage runs from 42-47. I know that it would be less if I had correct odometer reading. Did an iron butt ride with a Garmin and over the course of 1050 miles difference in odo. reading was 31 miles less on the bike odo. My conclusion 3% less mileage? Still not bad.

    last tank some 2 up and to and from work 60-70mph 46.6 2006 RSV Midnight bone stock except for Bagger mufflers.

    Just checked my 06 RSV Midnight riding to work 62 miles round trip 60-70mph mostly 62-64mph 45.5 miles per gallon.

    if its still under warranty have them put in an "I basket". My 06 RSV made a terrible noise until the basket was changed. Some who have done this have said that the whine moved in RPMs or came back mine did not and I have a little over 20,000 since the change. I had tried different oils as well without much difference. Yamalube or valvoline 20-50 seemed to be the best for the whine. Currently I am trying Rotela T6 only a couple hundred miles seems ok.

    Looking to buy a set of OEM mirrors. Just installed riser extensions I have aftermarket mirrors and they are not adjustable enough. All I can see is the sky behind........ or if anyone has 1 1/2 inch risers and an aftermarket set of mirrors that function let me know brand so I can get a set thanks. 2007 RSV Midnight

    I had the same symptoms well my bike did.Checked exhaust for leaks found none, did a carb sync all better now.

    did you wire in a relay to shut hid off until bike is running? I looked at feedback for this vendor not sure about them. Your impression of quality? thanks

    This may not be related, when starting my bike sometimes it will die right away, hit the starter again and it will crank along time. have noticed if I turn key to off then back on starts right away when starter button is pushed. Almost like that resets something? I have no other problems with bike. Also am getting 46-50 mpg, only mod is RK mufflers. I get that solo (210lbs) or two up (360). I check almost every tank 9000 mi last year 7000 so far this year. 2006 rsv midnight

    Have you cleaned pivot point, taken kickstand off of bike, use a degreaser and lube? Also is anything bent? Has happened to me. I will check and see if I still have spring, bought a wrecked bike and replaced stand, wire loop was broken in wreck.

    I started this post and it has been 8000 miles since I had clutch basket replaced with an I basket. So far so good the whine has not returned.

    Has anyone looked at a Goldwing shock as a possilbe fit? Seen a pic of one they LOOK alot alike.

    put a dunlop d251 radial on the front of my 06 rsv nankang on the rear. paid 64.00 4 the d251 new off of e-bay

    I put one in from a 1986 1300 quieter than original one that came with the bike. But still whinning. Just had dealership replace with what I think was an I basket noise completly gone now.

    today was the day I could get in the yamaha shop. They ordererd last Thursday, clutch basket came in Monday put in today, night and day difference. No whine at all any rpm range. They changed oil and basket, no charge at all.

    today on a short errand, headed out of town turned the radio on ...... nothing controller didn't light up nothing. Pulled in the clutch turned the key off coasted a ways turned key on started bike let clutch out tried radio everything ok??????????

    Took bike into shop finally, the shop manager called today and said it was the clutch and not the rear end. When I first went in to transfer warranty he told me that it had to be the rear end and his shop had never fixed a whine by replacing the clutch. I tried to tell him about this forum and what everyone on here had said. Long story short they are putting in a I basket next week.

    tired of trying to get these on and off. Also don't like the idea of riding without them seat seems to lift off when getting off and on, or shifting position. Took a couple of small blocks of nylon and drilled holes in them and threaded them onto studs, finger tight. Aprox. 1/2 x 1/2 x 3/4

    I have about 2000 miles on nankang car tire 2006 rsv midnight. Today I blew the cobbs out and hit rev limiter in 3rd gear, about the time 95-100 mph got the wobble. It felt more like the bike was weaving in the back end. Just finnished a 600 mile round trip to KC for bbq riding 2 up no problems. I will probably stay on the darkside as I don't usually go past 75mph.

    Tried the gen 1 baskett today, about 100 miles. It seems to be quieter but still whinning.

    the clutch basket came in today. Put it in as soon as it arrived. Only problem its raining all day. Will try riding it today. I may also try the six spring pressure plate off of the 1st gen basket. If it fits.
