  1. Welcome to the family. This is a great place to hang out and learn a few things from time to time. Enjoy the new ride!
  2. After the MSF class my first bike was a Vstar 1100. Road nice and got me use to 2 up riding. Still when I went to the RSV there was an adjustment. Go with a small biker for a year or two before moving up to the RSV.
  3. Good for her on taking the MSF class. I recommend it to everyone! Congrats on the bike!! Need a few pictures of her ride.
  4. Nice bike!! Road a buddy's of mine and it was a lot of fun! ENJOY!
  5. I still love the looks of the Vision; matter of fact I love the looks of the whole line. I know that bike is built for touring. Would love to try one again someday for a longer ride. All 2 wheel or 2 wheel riding is a good thing!
  6. First let me say that I just renewed my membership for another year! This is an awesome place to stay for a while. Matter of fact every morning before work I see what's new. Wednesday the local Victory dealer had their demo days and I went down to try them out over lunch. Nice day and as busy as I have been at work; I needed a break. I know I will get blasted but since I first laid eyes on the Victory Vision; I wanted that bike. I have heard them all from it's Fugly to George Jetson and of course it's not a Harley. I will also tell you being an Iowa boy and these being assembled in Iowa is a good thing. Can't wait for Indian's to be built here as well. Test ride was 16 mile course of city, highway and interstate riding. What I liked about the bike: 1) Well balanced-Was easy to ride in the parking lot to the highway and intestate. 2) Adjustable Windshield-AWESOME where ever you wanted. 3) Comfortable-Seat was good. Able to stretch out with the floorboards. Wife did not ride with me but bike felt roomy 4) Highway and interstate riding-Bike was really smooth and made for touring. Dislikes 1) Vibration especially in town. I know V4 to V twin. 2) Transmission-Every where I read the tranny was improved A buddy that owes one agreed that it was. Still alot of grinding and clunking noises to me. 3) Engine-Slow response and sluggish. I did have the bike up to 90 on the interstate but seemed sluggish. Same buddy agreed with me compared to his 09. My 06 RSV I crank the throttle and off we go. Did not get that with the Vision. 4) Wind buffeting-Got caught behind a semi and I will tell you that it got real wobbly to the point I slowed down and got back in line. Was riding with a group and we got seperated and was trying to catch up. At that time I was doing 70 mph. Was able to catch up to the group a few minutes later when I got it up to 90. Biggest disappointment was the engine and transmission. I would tell Victory to keep working and I will stay with my RSV for a LONG TIME!
  7. Hey Partsman, Welcome to the site. RX means that your CB is on and your are receiving a message. Had the same thing last year when I got my new to me 06 RSV. Bugged me all year until I put the bike away for the winter. That's when I decided to look into it. Just turn the CB off and enjoy the tunes! You brought back memories:rotf:
  8. Good to hear! I took my wife to J&P and got her some boots and the last trip we got her a rain suit. Got caught in the rain and she was NOT HAPPY. Find places that she would like to go to. We ride to many of the local wineries here in Iowa. Of course after a few samples we leave with 3-5 bottles of wine.
  9. Looking for a windshield bag for my 06 RSV. Would like the trifold pouch; any recommendations?
  10. We were there in 09; very cool. Did not allow enough time but this is a place where you could spend days. We did make it out to the Presidential hangar and that was worth it. Hope to go back some time.
  11. Met up with GG last Saurday. Took all baout 10 minutes. Big thanks to GG for showing me how to synch the carbs and than for the ride! Awesome road.
  12. Made the switch from a Vstar 1100 to the RSV last year. My wife was never comfortable on the 1100 so I moved up. Glad I did but certainly 2 different bikes. Take it slow and learn about the bike. Quite honestly I was not ready for a bike that heavy especially 2 up. I got through the learning curve without doing anything stupid. Now it feels that the bike and I are one as goofy as that sounds. Also as you see on this site don't be afraid to run those RPM's up. Good luck and keep us posted!
  13. I live in Cedar Rapids and would like to meet up with you some weekend and synch my carbs. Let's talk!
  14. 1/2 helmet, long pants, boots and gloves.
  15. Ended up going with the WD40. Reason being is I had a can in the garage; who dosen't. Seems to work well as I have tested several times. Thanks for all of the advice; this site is AWESOME!
  16. Forks were locked and I do move the handle bars to get the key to turn; this time it would not work. Thanks for the advice on the spray and I will give it a try.
  17. Need advice before I do anything. I ride a 2006 RSV with 12k miles. 3rd owner. Getting ready to leave work today and I jumped on the bike to take off. Put the key and it won't turn. I had tge bike locked. Had to move it back and forth and pulled the key in and out and it finally turned. I did wash the bike last night but no hard water spray. Thoughts? Replace, WD40,
  18. Best show is KA. I would would see it again. By the way you could take me with you if you needed a stow away.
  19. Noticed that I had lost 1 of the bolts for the trunk that bolts to the fender. Went to the parts desk and was handed a free one. I know it's not an expensive item but this day and age of uncertainty in the business world I thought that was huge. Never bought a bike at McGraths but certainly will the next time! Check them out as they have a bunch of new and used bikes.
