  1. I hope the ship in the news today with the hole in it wasn't because the Capt didn't read my post.
  2. All cruise controls should only be used on dry surfaces .
  3. I had a 1975 Z1 with ATP kit, had to install Lester wheels and steering stabilizer. Good for 145 mph, 42mpg at 55 and 21mpg at 145.
  4. Do you have a digital multi meter you can try while riding?
  5. With the battery fully charged, do a load test with an auto battery tester 10 to 15 seconds. Even Sears say Die Hard not never die, lots of bad new batteries.
  6. Example: a 500 lb. bike wouldn't need a tire that is designed for a 850 lb. bike. Thus one tire is called a sport touring tire and the other tire is a touring tire. Each is so named to help consumer hope fully pick the right one. An informed tire dealer should have a product book by most tire companies, ask for one as they are free.
  7. There is a tread wear rating on M/C tires, it's called the load index. The lower the L.I. the softer the rubber. Just because a tire size is listed will fit your bike, you still need to compare the L.I. numbers. Ex. L.I. 67+677 lbs, L.I. 77+908 lbs. Check your owner man / frame stickers for tire info.
  8. Why not check with dealer and see if you can order it only. You're going to need a cover gasket also.
  9. After you complete your carb check, try a mileage check in 4th gear instead of 5th. Not knowing your gear ratio to weight, sometimes it doesn't hurt to try different things.
  10. WELCOME TO DELAWARE " The First State ". Dover is the capitol of the State and Wilmington is the largest city, 45 miles north of Dover. Come and enjoy 4 seasons of weather, good food, nice people and the above mention comments.
  11. All i ask of anyone that wants tires mounted, why didn't you let me try to save you some more money before you bought? Most of my customers are sharper than me ( shop owner ) that why i work for them. Because we both have options, things don't always go smooth. Not to install anything purchased elsewhere is a 30 yr policy of my shop of 33 yrs of operation. Sold a tire ( Hayabusa ) in a 3 hr period customer picked up a nail, worked out an agreement with customer ( tire not warranted by man ). He ( happy ) + me ( hero ) = good business.
  12. Try a couple tanks of reg gas, i belive it fires easier with the stock ignition. Have a FANTASTIC ride.
  13. 1988 up after market GL 1500 rotor covers on 1st or 2nd gens Ventures or RS std. I saw them on a 1985 GL1200. I just aquired a rare 1984 GL 1200 standard ( no fairing on front ), pre owner did add touring pkg off Aspencade with tour box. This winter will do this install on my 87 V.R. and the 84 GL std.
  14. Royal Star and 2nd Gens have 1" bars, 1st gens and Gold Wings have 7/8" bars. They are just covers with no cable holders.
  15. [:bighug:quote=daveg90;146408]Karras, I am using the 6180 series grips that seem to fit the first gen Ventures just fine. I do suggest that you follow their installation directions down to the letter. Especially related to the amount of glue for one, and the right versus left grip angle for another Just checked their web site and 6180s are the ones you want. Your bike isn't listed, Gold Wing grips are the same. For safety reasons anyone else that have a first gen and have this companies grips, get the right ones.
  16. ANYTIME anything is bought and paid for, the purchaser should be considered a deserving customer. If that attitude isn't present in a business, GET OUT OF BUSINESS.

    How Much????

List price minus 15% at least.
  18. Check to see which plug isn't firing, maybe tech didn't start it with your proceedure and fouled plug while testing cable replacement. My 87 gets a little finicky about starting up sometimes and will foul plug.
  19. When installing new grips, always start with the left handle bar. Lub the grip with soapy water, never tape. Some grips come with a glue. Try reversing your install and you should be OK. Look close at the opening, one is a tad smaller because of throttle size using larger one.
  20. Delaware has a document fee no sales tax on vehicles 2.75%. when registered. We don't pay tax until tagged in Delaware from other states. Recent legislation might be raising it to 3.25 soon.
  21. I would use a rubbing compound ( white ). Not knowing the thickness of the paint, you will have more control of the removal process. I would use it with a damp cotton cloth. Oven cleaner is good for removing plastic and rubber from chrome exhaust. Would hate to see you have to paint, when a little time spent will insure a safer end result.
  22. DAAaaaaaaaaaaammMMMMMMMM, i was only asking.
  23. What's the difference in the front tires, Avon vs Dunlop??
  24. Dunlop has a part number for MR 90-18, but no one seems to carry them. Probably think they can't sell them. Is there a market for them??
