  1. Anyone needing parts might want to check out the 1997 Royal Star listed on salvage direct web site. The bike has less than 14000 miles. Bike is located in Darlington, PA and the auction ends on 10-4
  2. I would agree with Gunkylump said. I came off V Star 1100 and at first the Venture was very top heavy but with time on the bike its not a problem for me. Mine does have the whine but I just live with it becasuse I like the bike so much. I just got back from a 2100 mile trip over 5 days and that sold me even more on the bike.
  3. For anyone needing a project or parts there is a 1997 Royal Star listed at salvage direct .com The bike has less than 14k miles and is located in Darlington, Pa. They say is starts, runs and moves. Looks like slight damage. Auction ends Oct 4.
  4. OK, there is a ralley in Hot Springs, Ark. on Sept 9th thru the 12th. Never been so I have no other info.
  5. Most of the welding I would do would be no thicker than 3/16. Most would be like 1/8 thick square tubing or flat metal. If I had anything heaver to weld I think I would get a pro with a stick welde to do the job.
  6. A big thanks to all. I appreciate all your thoughts on a welder. I will ponder on this and settle on something. At least I have a lot of good info to consider. Thanks,
  7. Thanks for the info. The 220 might be a better welder but I need something that works off 115. I will be looking a Lowes and Home depot and see what they have. Lincoln is well know for welding equipment. I looked on line at Harber Freight and also a Tractor Supply. I think its kind of you get what you pay for. Squidly I will PM you shortly.1 Thanks
  8. Anybody here have experience with wire welders? I am currently looking for a welder to use around our place. I just want something to use now and then for light duty repairs. I do want a welder that uses 115 volt. I see that you can buy welders that use flux core wire and they say no need for gas. Then others use gas. I don;t know enough about these to know which is best. Of course then you have the stick welders and I guess that is a whole different type. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  9. I had a similar oil leak a couple of months ago. I found that the plug on the right side of the engine near the bottom had worked loose and was leaking a little oil. While riding the oil would blow back under the pipe and along the frame. Quick fix---just tighten the plug and a little clean up under the bike fixed it. Hope it's that simple for you.
  10. Well, welcome to the club. I have had 2 hearing aids for over 5 years. Be prepared to return for adjustments to the aids. It took about 3 return trips for me to get them as good as possible. No matter how good they get the adjusted the will never completely replace normal hearing. I found the best for me was to have a volumn controll on the aids so I could increase or decrease volumn when needed. All the ads about auto adjustment to what ever enviorment you go in never worked for me. Just wasted money on these hi priced aids. Oh and be sure and take them off when you ride. I lost one of mine. $1500 boo boo Good luck and hope they work well for you
  11. I installed the RK pipes on my 06 RSV about a month ago. No cutting. The stock mufflers just slip out of the exhaust pipe and the RK slip right in. The hardest part should be making the new brackets.

    Insurance cost

One issue is that our County is considered a part of the DFW Metroplex which has extreamly high insurance rates.

    Insurance cost

My insurance which I pay on an annual basis is due June 3rd. I currently have Geico but I am checking rates and so far State Farm has the best. Their rate is $552 per year. Geico is $635. Full coverage, $100 deductable, tow, unisured moterist and Lib. Someone made a comment about State Farm but I have been with them for over 20 years. My 2 autos and my house insured with them and I have had maybe 4 or 5 claims over the years and never a problem. So why did I go with Geico?? A friend of mine was with them and said they had the best rates. At the time I was in a hurry but should have taken the time to check.
  14. This past Friday I put the RK pipes on my RSV. No real problem. I did have to usa a wood block on the end of the pipes and tap them fairly hard to get them on in the correct position. I also invested in a pair of crome muffler clamps made for this applicaton. So far sounds good and no pops. Hope yours will end up working as weell
  15. Yamaha North Texas on hwy I 35 in Lewisville is having their "Get Out & Ride Open House this Saturday" Just wondering if anyone from North TX is planning on going? They are advertising free rides, food etc
  16. Thanks for the info. I am going to check the J&M site.
  17. I am looking at a Yamaha Head set on e-bay. Package shows it is a Yamaha Product. The seller says it is a 6 pin din connector. I have a 2006 RSV and the info I have says my connecting receptical is a 5 pin. Anyone know if this will item will work on my bike? Thanks in advance for any info
  18. I keep 42 in my rear tire and 35 in the rear shock. I had just had the bike into the dealer for the 26,000 mile service and they noted the rear tire had about 2500 or 3000 miles left. I doubt now whether they did any more that glance at the tread.
  19. I just replaced my tires yesterday. I had a chuck of tread come off the center of the rear tire whcih by the way was a Metz. I went with the Dunlop E III. I believe and hope they will perform better.
  20. I guess like anything else you can get a bad tire in any brand. I think you have to go with the most recommended brand. One thing sure though I am not going back with the Metz tire. After several years away from riding I am back and having to re-learn alot of things. I do know that Dunlop's were the tire of choice back when. Thanks to everyone for the input.
  21. Thanks for the info. I have had a tire on my car develop some cupped out places from being out of alignment. The sound they produce is similar. I am going to pull the wheel tomorrow and most likely will replace the tire. What kind of tires do you use?
  22. Yesterday during my ride I was hearing a sound like a flat spot hitting the pavement coming from my front tire. Kind of a slap---slap---slap sound. I could not find any kind of cupped out place on the tire. Now I am wondering if it might be a sepration of the belts. Anyone ever have this or something similar? The tire is a Metz.
  23. How about this for timeing. I was just about to post a question about my front tire which is a Metz. While riding yesterday I notice what sounded like a flat spot on my front tire. I have looked the tire over and cannot find a flat spot. Now I am wondering if this sound might be coming from a sepration? Anyone had this problem? Thanks
