  1. Talk to me - maybe we can come to an agreement? I'm going to visit a Honda dealer after work and we'll see what he offers. It's difficult 'cos I'm away from home working and don't have the bike with me, but I have pics. This place has great prices on new Hondas, typically $3k below retail, so I'll look at the VTX and see how much the deal is. I know I'm going to be upside down on the financing - it just depends how much.
  2. Good to meet you in the parking lot of the Quality Inn in Greencastle!

    Ride on...

  3. Ok, 'fess up! Who owns the White RSV parked outside the Dalton, GA courthouse this morning? You've been spotted! (Nice machine, BTW).
  4. I was out looking for a scooter for my wife (I know, sounds like a fair exchange!) at the weekend when a dealer tempted me to ride an '07 Roadliner. I fell in love with it! Not sure if it was the great sound from the Cobra pipes that were on it or the fact that it's nowhere near as heavy to maneuver as my '03 Midnight Venture, but it got me the bug! Now I know what I'd be giving up, but for pure riding pleasure, I'm tempted to sell or trade the RSMV for either a Roadline, Stratoliner or even a VTX1800T. My scoot has been very much admired for the custom paint, but I have no idea what it's worth on the open market. Anyone have any thoughts? Or better still, anyone wanna buy it???? BTW, it has 26k miles on it and is in very good condition. It's in the gallery here... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=414 I've added a driver's back rest since the pics were taken.
  5. Sorry Don, but I'm also of the "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" school. It may be legit, but I've seen too many scams that are set up to take people's money and this, to me, smacks of one of them. I've been in computers as a journalist for 30 years and I've seen just about every type of scam - and STILL get emails from friends telling me that Bill Gates is going to send me thousands of dollars just for forwarding emails, so color me skeptical, I won't be signing up. Apologies if it does turn out to be legit - and sorry you won't be getting $10 from my actions, but that's the way it is. As for advice to others, all I'd say is Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware). There's only one SSN I want to see on the internet - the guy's from LifeLock. It sure ain't gonna be mine! I'd also appreciate it if you DIDN'T use my email address for this kind of thing. I have no problem with requests for donations for fallen friends or even a direct solicitation for funds to help running the site, but please don't send me information on potential scams. It may be ok, but think of the egg on your face if it turns out I'm right. Thanks.

    Seat removal

You need a 10mm wrench and remove the two nuts under the front part of the seat. Then it will lift off. (Is that layman enough for ya )
  7. I call foul! This Ferris Wheel has no gondolas on it so it's incapable of carrying a person!!!!
  8. I do! I have the squelch fairly high, but I monitor 19 when I'm solo. I do scan 29 and the others if nothing's happening, but it's usually set to 19.
  9. A link to an expired email session????
  10. Wish I had known. I'm in Helen every Sunday and was there on the scoot yesterday!!!
  11. I have a personal preference for a taller shield, so I actually have the original shorty that was on the bike when I bought it sitting in my garage doing nothing. If you're interested, PM me and we can work something out.
  12. Actually not true, but it does go to the guvmint for them to do as they please with it! Healthcare (the National Health Service) is paid as a separate deduction from your pay, called National Insurance. I've lived in the States for the last 10 years, but IIRC, it runs about 6% of your salary. None of the tax on gas (or petrol) goes to insurance, road tax or health directly. Incidentally, according to a UK motoring show I was watching the other day, diesel fuel in Iraq is a penny a gallon!!!!
  13. Parking lots are generally private property, owned by the store, even down under. In the US, the official rules are different and can vary by state. I'm from England and I know that even if someone hits you in a car park, it can be tough getting a cop to issue a ticket!
  14. This is a timely thread - I just paid ~$30k for a new XM radio holder. 30-40k miles a year is easier at 35-37 MPG! I had a V6 Accord before and had to have my XM. Had the XM module fitted yesterday. http://i28.tinypic.com/4hunmb.jpg http://i32.tinypic.com/2qt9szs.jpg
  15. Sounds like a typical IT user to me... Me: "What did you do?" User: "Nothing, it just happened!"
  16. I'm on business in a hotel in Dalton, GA. So far, we're fine - just a little rain - but the worst of it is about to hit. I told my boss I was staying put for another hour so the bad stuff could pass.
  17. You DO NOT need a converter box if you have cable or satellite. You only need one to receive OTA (over the air) signals - in other words, anything that comes in using an antenna (except HD).
  18. Sounds good, Craig, but I'm not sure what's happening and when yet this weekend. I MAY be going to Anderson, SC on Saturday so that will shoot out the whole day. Sunday is the Super Bowl, so the day is relatively shot with church, getting ready for company and the game itself. However, church is in Helen, so if I can get the bike running, I'll ride up there and we can at least meet up. Do you have a schedule (at least a rough one) worked out?
  19. Thanks all for your help. Todd, I'm hoping to make it on the 9th - trying to drum up some interest at the moment.
  20. No, I don't have one, but I think it sounds like I may spend the money! I just need to get it running at the weekend and go from there. I'll definitely look into them though.
  21. Forget the wire - we need to get together. I bought my bike from Performance in Seneca and we always make the pilgrimage to Fatz at some point in the Spring! Or there's always Applebee's or a couple Chinese places in Toccoa (I'm actually 5 miles from Toccoa Falls College - in Habersham County, but Toccoa's the mailing address).
  22. Wait. You're in Walhalla and I'm in Toccoa and we haven't met yet???? What's wrong with this picture? (BTW - I TOLD you I was useless in the first place!!!)
  23. Sounds like just what I need. Now who's going to volunteer to come over and fit it for me??? Huh? Huh? Huh?
  24. OK, OK, i'm a wimp - what can I say?
  25. Thanks, Eck. Maybe she'll even get a clean at the same time!!!!
