  1. Hmmm, isn't a 4-wheel Wing called an Accord?
  2. I've passed them many times when working in Winder, Curtis, but never got around to stopping. I thought they were primarily Suzuki dealers (or maybe Kawasaki). Sorry I can't give you any more than that. BTW, did you at least get a good price?
  3. UPDATE: As a direct result of this thread, Burgymon (John) contacted me through PM and offered me his 2001 Reflex. We got together on Saturday and we took it off his hands for an agreed price. Result: Wife now has the scooter she has wanted for a couple of years or more; John sold his scoot and I saved about HALF of what we were going to spent last week! This means I may get my new TV sooner than expected. A big public thank-you to John and a happy ending for a change! ...and here's the beast... http://i31.tinypic.com/20at0zb.jpg
  4. Never mind - I got it!!! I was scared to loosen the throttle cable, but when I did, it was easy. I told you I was mechanically challenged! Thanks again for the offers of help. Now to find the screw I lost and finish up!
  5. Yes, Ontario IS a bit far, but thanks anyway. SC's a problem too - I've got the grip half off!!!
  6. OK, given up for the evening. Will try tomorrow. How the heck do you get the cables off???? I've tried and tried - must be doing something wrong!
  7. Thanks Gary. I appreciate your help. Off to try!
  8. Hey all, I got a set of Kuryakyn ISO grips that I want to put on my '03 RSMV. I'm sure I'm not the first to have done this mod, so any tips for removing the old grips and placing the new ones on? I'm do-it-yourself challenged (I even have problems changing light bulbs!) so any help would be welcomed. Do the weights unscrew? If so, what's the best way to get them off? I can't seem to find a wrench that would fit and I'd be worried about damaging the finish!
  9. It's only good if you're selling - crap if you're buying! Have you seen the effect it's had on scooters????
  10. That's my intention here! There are already several others here and on other forums who appear to have problems with this dealer, but amazingly, they're still in business! Either people LIKE to get screwed or they just don't care if they are being ripped off! Oh and Maineac - already sent a complaint to BBB. Now if I can find an address, I'm sending one to Honda and Yamaha.
  11. Yes, it really does. Out of interest, I saved over $27 ordering my ISO grips & Throttle Boss online over what I had paid in the store. Their prices were a total of $10 OVER MSRP and, as I said, I saved 25% having them shipped. I was looking forward to spending my time installing them today, but I can do it next week instead - and have $27 or a good lunch!!!
  12. That's a good idea - and maybe this one as well... http://www.atv-forum.com/general-atv-discussion/270-warning-lawrenceville-honda-yamaha.html Someone from another forum I posted this story on pasted the above link.
  13. Wish I had known this two weeks ago! We went to New England and drove back through PA. I could have ridden it home for you. We had a beautiful weekend's drive too. Sorry.
  14. If the scoot wasn't what she REALLY wanted and they weren't so hard to find, I know we wouldn't have been so patient. She's wanted one for a long time and when this came up, we were prepared to to take a little screwing around to get it, but not blatant price gouging! We had a bad experience about two years ago when a private seller had a Reflex he wanted to sell. It was a couple years old, but had only been bought about 6 months earlier and only had 575 miles on it. We agreed a price and were due to pick it up on the Friday evening when I got back from being away on business (remember, this was all agreed). We got there on that Friday only to find he'd sold it to someone else 30 minutes earlier! The guy died not long after - he was selling because of a brain tumor, but we were really pissed then, too. So, to be screwed by a stealer was the icing on the cake!! This second incident now has her doubting she's ever meant to ride, so they've possibly successfully taken a potential two-wheeler off the road (or back in a cage anyway!).
  15. My work is done! And I've also put in a complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau).
  16. As they didn't sell it to me, I guess not!
  17. OK, so after listening to the advice in my other thread, we go looking for a Honda Reflex for my wife. Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha (Georgia) had two used Reflexes on cycletrader.com for sale, so we drive the 75 minutes or so down there to take a look. One of them was sold, but the other was available and we looked at it and decided to buy. I noticed that the back tire has about 1/8th" tread left, so I ask for a new one. They say no and quote about $185 for a new one with fitting. OK, wife really wants the bike so we accept the deal without the tire (I can probably get one cheaper - or at least get a couple thousand miles out of it before replacing it). We hand over a check from our equity account for the total ($4499 + 94.50 doc fees, tax and 19.00 title - total just under $5k). Blow #1, they can't verify the check and do not accept credit cards, so we had to apply for a Honda Card (and pay it off within 30 days to avoid interest), which we agree to do. We've been at the stealer for about 3 hours at this point and really want to get away! We go and get a bite to eat while they get all the paperwork ready and when we get back, I realize that the scooter was on offer at cycletrader for $4299, not the $4499 they were charging. So I mention this to the salesman and he goes away and brings it up online and, sure enough, I was right. He goes into a whole big discussion with his manager and, eventually, the manager signs off on the lower price. We should have walked away long before this point, but the wife really wanted the bike, so we accepted the deal and waited for the paperwork to be redone. After a total of almost five hours, the sales manager comes over to me and says "I spoke to my boss on the phone and he won't do the price of $4299. If you want the bike, it's $4499!" - What the?????!!!!!! We got in the car and left. I've had to deal with an unhappy, sobbing wife since we left and I'm furious that we were treated this way. You can bet that the dozen or so people still in the store when we left heard what happened and even the people in the parts department were apologizing to us when I returned the Kuryakin grips I had bought for my RSMV while we were waiting. So, bottom line. For $200, they lost a sale of a Reflex, lost $102 in accessory sales (which is where their biggest line of profit is) AND lost a customer - and the custom of everyone I can tell about this! We are still in shock as to the way we were treated and, as a result, I urge anyone considering buying so much as a crampbuster from Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha to look elsewhere. Sorry to rant, but I'm still fuming (can you tell?).
  18. Thanks for the replies, guys. Keep 'em coming! Of course, some are expressing opinions and that's exactly what I asked for, but so far, you've done the job of steering me away from the off-brand Chinese imports. (Sleep with one eye open, guys - they send Ninja hitmen if you diss them )
  19. OK, some of you know I've been looking at scooters for my wife. She has a five mile commute up and down a mountainside to work and it would be a great way of a) getting her onto two wheels and b) save a lot of money in gas. So here's the question... There are a lot of Chinese/Korean off-brand scooters out there with 150cc versions costing around $1300-1800. She has wanted a Honda Reflex (250) for a while and we've been looking for one of these. The best we have found so far is a 2002 with 21k miles for $2850 and the price of a new one is in the region of $5200+. Is it worth buying a cheap off-brand, almost disposable scooter and throwing it away after two or three years and replacing it, or are we better to buy the known brand for triple the money? Other possibilities for known brand scooters are the Yamaha Majesty or the Suzuki Burgman. Both bigger, I know, and considerably more expensive, but I worry about safety and replacement parts. Fire away boys (and girls) !!
  20. I was taling about the cars, Dan, not the SUVs! /me backs out slowly
  21. Well, Lawrenceville Honda has some good prices on both Honda and Yamaha AND it has some scooters that may interest the wife, so guess where I'll be on Saturday! Also noticed that buying prior model years (still new) makes sense on the saving money front! I don't care what year it says on the front fork as long as it runs and rides well - and has the same warranty!! Anyway, this way I can satisfy her and shop for me at the same time. There are some interesting off-brand scooters out there including one (in Canton) with remote start and alarm for under $1800!
  22. Interesting read, but as with most reviews, can be taken with a grain of salt. There's a big difference between someone reviewing a bike and someone commenting on one they own - just ask any Kia or Hyundai reviewer/owner! I'm still not sure what I want to do - if anything - but for the kind of riding I do, would like to consider something a little lighter.
  23. Yes, I'm in Dalton all week and probably the next couple too! I took a drive out to Southern last night and they DO have great prices. I was tempted by a nice 07 VTX1800, but their trade in prices are very low (probably because of their low new prices!). Just going by a picture, their initial offer was $1200 less than I was offered against a discounted roadliner at the weekend and WAY too low for me to consider. The salesman told me to sell my bike privately, which is what I'd planned to do anyway. The custom paint on mine is something that a private buyer would pay a little more for where a dealer wouldn't.
  24. Well, I took a stroll over to the bike and left a post-it on the speedometer!
  25. More like too fast - the cop was on a 1st gen and had to wait for a red light to ticket him!!!
