Need Rear Rotor for 1988 Venture
bongobobny replied to cimack77's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Gee, there was just one on Ebay yesterday. Are you looking for new or used?? -
I wasn't too concerned about that Brad, asthe C.O.G. would be closer to the axle, but it is a moot point at this time as I decided to spring a couple hundred more and get the 10 foot version. My initial concern was weight and handling but I decided to sacrifice a little for the extra carrying space...

Oh, were you gone??? Bongo: Who never misses a chance to take a shot...
-
Ahh, I see you cut and pasted the specs! OK the tracking is 51 inches. Now, what is the ground clearance?? the side rails on the trailer I'm looking at are only about 6 in high or so. Worst case senerio is to put the rear wheels on some 2 x 6 pieces for a little extra height...
-
Hmmm, you are right, it is 61.5 inches wide. For some reason I thought it was 54 inches wide. Maybe that's the triwing. Not a problem though, I'm buying a utility trailer which does not have very high sides, and I can always widen it at the rear the extra couple of inches. The length is 112 which is under 10 feet...
-
Yes, please do! 60 inches is a just fit! Also, give me the exact length measurement but I should be good with having the front tire on the tongue. Hey, if it doesn't fit for the return trip, I guess I'll be forced to ride it home...
-
Actually, it is 4 1/2 ft wide according to the site, and I'm going to weld the front wheel chock to the tongue. I don't really want to go with a heavier trailer as I'm using a passenger car, not a truck to haul it down.

Yeah, riiiiiight...

Ya know, Brian, that's the one thing I'm concwrned about, the weather. It's stil fairly early and surprise snowstorms aren't entirely out of the question. We are trailering it down and back. Found a really nice utulity trailer at Tractor Supply that is 5 ft by 9 ft and pretty lightweight seeing as I will be using the Monte Carlo to tow it with...

Just got off the phone with Hannigan and set the date to trike the RSV! Drop it off Monday March 29th and pick it up April 2nd. We are going to spend the week down there and sightsee for the week. Any members around there? We are also thinking of spending a couple of days in Nashville...

Brake repair
bongobobny replied to pinetum's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, it is an assembly lube, and use it on the seals mostly. It does get disolved by the brake fluid, but when you bleed the system it just flushes out. Couple of suggestions. Polish your pistons before reassembling, and if they have any nicks or scratehes on them replace the piston. You will most likely need a vacuum pump to bleed the system effectively, especially if you rebilt the master cylinder as well. -
Yes, the triwing is a good economical alternative to the Hannigan and you will most likely be satisfied with it. Myself, I decided to go with the Hannigan for the independant rear suspension and better braking along with the rake kit for the front forks, and it is going to cost me one of my 401K's to do it, but that is my personal preference...

Plug Wires Question
bongobobny replied to 84xj1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yah!! I'm with Earl! Just how good do you think a set of 24 year old wires to be anyway?? Even if thyey only had a hundred miles of use on them, they are still 24 years old, dried up, and pretty much worthless! Buy some new wires son, buy some new wires, and change your plugs too.. -
Looking for a tci on a 1985 vr
bongobobny replied to Motordog's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not necessarily as the ignition timing may very well be a different response curve and not work out as well on the "detuned" Venture motor... -
I learned about Chicago at an early age driving on the 90 at noontime...

Now, I've used canned drummers (drummer in a box) but that's pretty outrageous!! Now all they need to do is somehow attach the throttle to a foot pedal and they should be able to include drum rolls...

In your opinion, what are the top five states to motorcycle in?
bongobobny replied to Sunrayman's topic in Watering Hole
Hmmm, 5 states?? 1. Euphoria 2. Relaxation 3. Pleasure 4. Adventure 5. Freedom Oh, not mental states, physical states. Well, lemme see North Carolina. Especially the western half. Lots of winding roads thru the mountains and many sights to see. Arizona, the Grand Canyon State. Plenty of sightseeing to the north. Also pretty much all year long riding California. From cities to wide open country, a great seaside ride, many points of interest Massachusetts. Loaded with history and sights galore! Arkansas. There isn't a bad road to take! Lots of winding roads! It is very difficult to limit it to just 5. How about the top 10? Then I could add NY, Vermont, Tennessee, New Mexico and Oregon. After that Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Ohio and Colorado followed by Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire and Maine, ete...
