  1. Yah! #2 and #3 cylinders have a longer bolt where they pass into the oil cavity. What you may want to do is draqin your oil, wick/blow out the threads and clean them, then clean the bolts and put NON hardening gasket goop on the threads. Maybe you aren't torquing the screws tight enough...
  2. Ahhh! And now you know how Don came up with the correct answer!!
  3. The intercom cables plug into the main power amp located in the left upper fairing. You will have to remove the left dash assembly from the fairing to access this unless the cables are already connected to the amplifier. There is a black rubber boot that you will have to fold out of the way to see the din connectors. You need a cable for the driver connected and for the passenger. If the cables are already connected then look for a round connector to plug the headsets into. Armrests are indeed another hard accessory to find. You can spend months diligently watching fleabay listings and if and when you find a set, be prepared to pay a pound of flesh for them! Same deal with floorboards! Not sure of this, but there should be a PDF file of the owner's manual somewhere on this site. Welcome to the site, and the only stupid question around here is the one that wasn't asked...
  4. Give him a shot of Irish Cream at MD Gary...
  5. You cheated!!!!!!
  6. You're getting warmer...
  7. I was afraid of that...
  8. Also, it depends on what year the motor is. If you have a '90 - '93 then the pickup coil setup is different. The earlier '86 - '89 had dual pickups like the 1200 motors, but in '90 they went to a single pickup and a different TCI so the wiring will be a little different for that. You can always pick up a newer wiring harness and change yours out. It's not that hard of a job, especially of you have the engine already out. What's the reason for the swap, blown engine, or just won't start? If it's just a starting issue then we may be able to figure out what's wrong and get you running again. The 1200 engine was a good strong long lasting engine, and actually ran better than the 1300...
  9. No, he did not ship Stardbog here...
  10. Yah! Snowing and sleeting now here. Becky and I are leaving for a romantic getaway this afternoon. Luckily we only have to travel an hour to get there...

  13. Awwww, Gunk, you're making me blush!! Just doing my part to make this a better world...
  14. OK did a little primary teoubleshooting, #1 cylinder not firing. Exhaust header is stone cold. Pulled the plug wire aqnd put it on another new plug and there is spark. Put that new plug in but no difference. I'm thinking carb problem, probably a diaphragm as when I rev it up and watch the carbs it almost looks like I see a mist or spray coming from the slider on #1 but not on the others. I'll do a compression test Monday if I can convince Wizard765 or Marcarl to bring a tester with them when they come visit. Have to go back to work Tuesday for a couple of weeks before they oerate on my right cateract...
  15. No, only 83 TCI's work on '83's. The '84-'89 uses a different vacuum point for the advance and they are 180 degrees out of phase with the '83. You actually stand a better chance of finding an '83 TCI for a reasonable price because of this. Do what Dingy stated though first, and also check the connection on the wiring harness where the leads from the pickup coils connect to the main harness. It's on the left side near the top where the side frame comes up to the top frame near the gas tank filler...
  16. Not 100% sure of this, but it seems as it's been the neutral switch all along! Just conducts enough to light the dash but not enough to energise the sidestand relay! All this time it has been on the sidestandwith the neutral light on, but no spark. In order to change the vacuum lines and carb mounts I've had it on the center stand. Finally got done with all that stuff and decided to do some serious electricaql troubleshooting. Measuerd the resistance on the neutral switch to ground and found about 20 ohms or so. Reminded me of when my kickstaqnd switch went out, wasn't open, but had around 6-8 ohms, enough to kill the starting circuit. Soooo, long story short, put the kickstand up, used the clutch to start, and within 30 seconds it was running!! Very rough, but runing. I wonder if 2-3 year old gas has anything to do with it?!!? It has new plugs but they may be somewhat fouled out already. A full tank of High test and a can of seafoam should do something, followed by new plugs again!
  17. OK it's somewhere between Yammer and Boomer so far, but Flying Fool may be closer than he thinks...
  18. Hmmmm, you would think so but if it is running strong and accelerating like the wind then I guess it's normal then. Maybe the rear cylinders are overheating like the cooling system needs flushing. Are you feeling the motor or the exhaust pipes??
  19. Maybe for your head, but not mine...
  20. It came today, and you are right, it's HUUUUUUUUUGE!!! By some remarkable coincidence it also started snowing today... BTW very timely delivery, I'm working on the item right now!! Soooo, no guesses as to what it is guys???
