  1. One of the things that I find "intriguing" is the coupling system. Bushtec uses soemthing called a Heim joint (captured ball). Net effect of this I hear, is that the ball can swivel latitudnally and longitudinally. M61A1MECH - does that type of hitch work well? Do you have any likes or dislikes?
  2. Does anyone have an opinion on the Bushtec Quantum series trailer?
  3. $40 more than the average "reputable" Internet dealers. Most of the reputable places average $650.00.
  4. Just so I know...you guys will be the ones on the scoots, right? The news says they estimate 100,000 bikes in Daytona this Bikektoberfest.
  5. Also...be wary of any ONLINE storefront that says one of their representatives will call you back to validate your order. They are looking to upsell (cables, instructions, SDcards, etc). If you don;t want to pay for any extras, the unit magically "goes out of stock" (for ever). Bought my Zumo 550 from newegg.com...costs about $40.00 more, but I've done a lot of business with them and NEVER had ANY issues. So I trust them!
  6. Excellent! Thanks for the QUICK response! Must be some sort of record....less than a minute???
  7. Back in 2006, squidley posted an article (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3905) on how to install an aux line splitter on the back of the amp/radio. I would like to be able to connect my SkyFI-2 to the aux in. My 08 RSV has an aux jack on the front of the casette player, but wire hanging all over the place looks butt-ugly. Plus...I can't close the casette cover when the input cable is connected. Does anyone know if an 08 RSV have an aux input on the back of the amp/radio to accomplish what is outline in squidley's article? I was hoping to get a definitive answer BEFORE splitting the fairing and attemping this "upgrade". Thanks!
  8. I've read the many threads here about direct wiring, and have decided that I would "prefer" to install a fuse panel somewhere under the seat (??). I'm not too keen on connecting accessories directly to the battery. A couple of questions: 1) What types (manufacturer) are you folks installing and are you happy? 2) Where have you installed the fuse panel? 3) Are there panels made specifically for the RSV? Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Had the same issue with my Zumo 550. The firmware was at version 4.3. Garmin released a new version (4.4) mid-August. I updated to the latest version, and my power-on problems have not reappeared.
  10. Pardon my ignorance, but "What exactly does a smaller front tire do for the ride?"
  11. Who is making the best, most versatile drink holder out there? What kind of mount would work for the passenger?
  12. Here are the Kuryakn Longhorns (7980) mounted on a '08 RSV.
  13. Mike; Got some pictures (deployed and stowed)?? I've got the same pegs...and I'll post a pic or two as well! Thanks!
  14. I'm in the market for a cycle lift. I see that lots of folks here use the Sears lift (the $100 model). In researching that particular model on the Sears site, people seem to really **dislike** that model (lots of 1's on a scale of 5). LOTS of complaints about shoddy workmanship, broken pumps, etc. So I'm looking for an expert's perspective (yours) on the "best" cycle lift! I'm leaning towards the Larin MAL2 (~$190.00). All thoughts, comments, experiences would be appreciated.
  15. Steve; I'm familiar with Edgewater...I buy most of my lumber from Chipmunks Hardwoods there in Edgewater. I ordered a Carbtune last night! Seems like this is a tool that will be used on a regular basis. Thanks for the offer. Stay safe! Walt
  16. Anyone in the Orlando area own one? I've just passed the 600 mile break-in on my 08 RSV, and would like to see how the Carbtune works ()! Local dealers want ~$300 for the inital service...and if carb synching is really as easy as it seems, I see a Carbtune purchase in my future! Been turning a wrench on my Mustang for years, and I see no reason to let someone else work on my bike! Thanks!
  17. Why not Minot (ND)? Freezin's the reason!
  18. I spent 20-something years in North Dakota...and I now live by the slogan "NO MO SNO". Yeah, I agree...A1A is a nice ride...especially down around Sebastian Inlet and FT Pierce. An yes...I AM a Florida Native.
  19. What Lenoard describes are my exact symptoms. Sounds like I need to take the bike back to the dealer. Bad thing is...I don't think they will have a clue on "how" to troubleshoot it. For those that haven't experienced the squeal, do you have any of the KTG accessories? Their stuff has ground loop isolators embedded. I don't have their component installed (yet).
  20. I have a pair of J&M headsets (584s I think). Often times, when I plug in the lower cable, and turn the ignition switch to ON, I get a loud SQUEAL through the IC (no...it's not the wife)! Sometimes I get the squeal if my wife disconnects her lower before I turn the bike off. When cruising, I have to turn the IC up to > 15 in order to hear my wife (don't say it). Three questions: 1) Has / is anyone else expperiencing this annoying squeal? 2) What kinds of things should I check? Could it be an issue with the radio? 3) When I turn up the IC loud enough so I can hear my wife, I hear what appears to be alternator noise. Is this "normal"? Most times, the IC volume has to be 18 in order to be able to have a conversation. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  21. Yeah....I'm 6'3 so I've got some longer legs as well! So having some "highly adjustable" pegs would be a huge benefit. Thanks for the data!
  22. All; Thanks for the feedback! Got what I was looking for (and a whole lot more!) What a great bunch of folks! KeithR - Thanks for the pics! BuddyRich - My dealer wasn't much help in telling me where the lower wind vents get mounted. Can you help?
  23. Thanks for the feedback! Got any pics that show the pegs, and where your mounted them?
  24. I'm a **new** Venture owner, and I'm looking for some recommendations on what kind/type of highway pegs are "made" for a 2008 model?
