everyone has already said most of what is there to wear. Its all in what you feel you can deal with if you lay the bike down. The only thing I will add is that in hot temps I will wear my hydration pack. Its not good to get ddehydated at anytime much less at highway speeds. david

do you want me to post his number on Bens facebook page? The updates that I have put up on Ben have been ones that I have copied and pasted from his home page . They are post made by tonya the sister of one of the guys in the wreck. David

Update- Ben: Hopefully no more surgery will be required. Hey may have some mobility with his right arm, because his right elbow wasn't broken-just the forearm. However- the left side of his body was in worse shape than was previously thought. Left shoulder and elbow were shattered and his wrist was also broken. new update from tonya. David

ok just got some more news from Tonya. turns out she is Lynne's sister. Lynne was in the wreck also. Ben was able to have both arms operated on in a 4 hour surgery. He's on a liquid diet now and Lynne is still waiting to speak with the sergeon to see how things went. Jim went into surgery at 2:00 and as of 45 minutes ago, he wasn't out yet. David

Tonya Nelms Long I want to say thank you to everyone for your prayers, love and support. I will try to keep this page updated as soon as I hear things. {{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}} http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-sf2p/hs305.ash1/23146_602212661_4390_q.jpg Tonya Nelms Long They hope to operate on Jims ankle when they finish with Ben. They took Jim off the oxegen this morning because his levels were looking good http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-sf2p/hs305.ash1/23146_602212661_4390_q.jpg Tonya Nelms Long Ben went into surgery at 10:00 am this morning. They are definately operating on one arm, but hope to do both of them. If they are able to do both, the surgery should last at least 4 hours. He is in surgury right now. http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-sf2p/hs305.ash1/23146_602212661_4390_q.jpg Tonya Nelms Long Daniel had surgery on his wrist this morning. No bleeding on the brain. He could possibly be released this afternoon, but not sure yet Now Im getting all of this second hand and Im not sure of the details as far as when and where. Facebool is a great thing in times llike this as all our thoughts and prayers are being notted (spelling) and passed on to Ben. If you are a facebook person look him up he found me on there but it is listed under Ben Baxley. David

Now I never sadi it had to be a whole heard just a few will do for me. I just dont want to be the only one out there ridding. And besides , as I rode the back roads that my wife wanted pics on all I seen was cows everywhere and a few horses too. Great story about the loose cows in the road. I know how oyu felt ............sorta. The wife and I were ridding and we had to come to a complete stop one day on a back road when a bull chased 2 deer over the fence and into the road. The deer ran off but the bull just set there and lowerd his head at us and pawed the road. Can yoou say puckerd? luckily he decided we werent worth his time and walked back through the gate he destroyed. Oh yeah forgot to say ,the deer jumped the fence gate he ran through it. So get out and ride and enjoy the time we are here. Who knows one day when you are waiving at that 1st gen following a honda shadow. The wife and I might be the ones waving back. david

just pulled the following info from his facebook page. UPDATE: Ben: both arms broken, broken elbow, broken collarbone, broken ribs, dislocated shoulder and elbow. Jim: broken ankle. Daniel: broken wrist and internal bleeding (they are about to do another scan to check the bleeding). Mike was able to drive his bike from the accident to MUSC. 5 people on 4 motercycles and 1 car (maybe 2) were involved in the accident. Ben was medevac-ed from the accident straight t to MUSC. He's suffering injury's w/ his shoulders, arms and ribs. Ben's Dad and Mom were riding on their bike behind him. Jim (father) has some serious injury's to his legs and ankle, and Lynn...e (mother) was able to walk after the accident. Daniel (his brother in law) has some internal bleeding and Mike (?) (a friend of their from church) was able to walk away from the accident also. I'll try to keep everyone updated as I hear more information. David

I love my 91. only 2 down sides for me is that as I am wertically challenged its kinda hard to get the heels of my feet down, Balls of my feet no problem I just cant flat foot the bike. This soon became no prob thopugh with time. The other downfall for me is the lean angle. Not sure if all 1st gens have this prob but I have to watch the direction of the slope of the places where I park. It stands a straight up on the side stand and has been on its side a few times because of this. The up side is this bike was made for me. It messhes with my style of riding. I love to push the twisties but I also like the fact that I can get on the super slabs and be comfortable for the long run. Get a good set of highway pegs . The last time mine fell over it broke my left side highway peg and I do miss it onthe longer stretches. other than that the frist genis just fun. Now Im not knocking the second gens as I havent been on one so I cant say anything about one. Good luck in whatever you decide. David
