I'd better get out my tuba!

You're supposed to inflate the tires?

Dang!

What I'm wondering is what the controls for the bike must be like. We all know that for our bikes we have two brake controls and a clutch which could be used to prevent such a stupid mistake. But on an electric motorcycle such as this, there is no need to have an engine running prior to the throttle being advanced. Twist the throttle, the electricity hits the motor and off you go. I don't know if this bike has a clutch mechanism to completely disengage the motor from the drive train or not, but if not, I'll bet someone's wishing it had one for sure now. And I'm willing to wager that the driver was hitting the brakes for all it was worth. But if there's no clutch, the motor's already spinning. That's internal momentum that's got to be stopped fast.

The only problem I've had is with people trying to sell me an extended warranty policy on my Dodge Pickemup.

I rated a Honda Hawk! That's something that I'd never ride. Bending over the bars like that puts my hips into instant spasms.

There is one of those up for sale here now. I considered buying it myself, but I know nothing about that dual-range transmission that they put in it and don't really understand why they would have put such a thing on a street bike in the first place. I think the seller is asking $2300 for it.

Interesting concept, this "new bike" thing. I must experience this some day.

If the deer don't like the tune you're whistling, will they "horn in" on your business?
-
And whistle in the right key.

Back in 06, I bought me a new 05 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad-Cab 4x4 pick up. On the 4th week of owning this fine specimen of a man's truck, I decided we needed to take a vacation to Branson, MO. On the first night there, we went to Fuddrucker's for a burger for dinner. After that, we headed over to Office Depot so I could get a new gizmo for my laptop. We turned off the main drag and headed down a side street. I noticed that the posted speed limit was 45 MPH, I was only doing 40. "Hmmpf!", says I, "This is no good! I've got the new Dodge and by thunder, I've got me a Hemi! I need to be doin' 45." I no sooner got it up to 45 when a deer jumped in front of us. It ducked down as if it was going to jump out of the way, but it was too late. I caught it squarely with the bumper and kilt it dead. The only damage to my truck was three small dents in my bumper. All have effectively been covered up by my bash bar that I mounted after the fact. Would a deer whistle or bells helped? I seriously doubt it. We were only four blocks off the main drag. I think the best thing for me to have done would have been to be sure to pack the skinnin' knives. Schlepporello (who still gets a little anxious when he sees a deer in front of his truck)

At least not on the first date?

So far, the only thing I've used has been my good ol' leather work gloves, but it ain't really got cold yet either.

Just northwest of the Amarillo city limits is a tiny community on Highway 136. There used to be a guy there who would ride his longhorn steer daily on the shoulder of the road in this community. I don't know if he still does or not, I never run that route at work any more. As for the Brahman in the car, I wouldn't try to pet it. These rascals ain't always "user friendly".

That's what the voices would like you to think, but I'm on to them. I know their game.

In my opinion, it's all a crapshoot. But also in my opinion, you've stacked the odds in your favor by wearing a helmet. And again in my opinion, those odds pretty much go out the window at speeds over 35 MPH. But as I've said before, I'll wear a helmet because I feel it's safer for me. And it makes the voices made because I've lined the inside of my helmet with tin foil and they can't read my thoughts.

But what about the voices? Don't you listen to them? I do! Well....................except on Friday evenings. That's when they like to sing their favorite Donny and Maurie tunes.

Oh we've got a high score all right. We try to pay out as much as we can when the monthly statements hit and we pay them on time. It's funny to me though. To me, we're knee deep in debt. But when I hear of other people's debts I wonder what prevents them from going bankrupt.

I don't know how accurate the chart is, but if it IS correct that would explain to me why so many people have so much nicer stuff than I do when I work harder and make more mney than they do. While I'm currently only paying off one credit card, one pick-up and one personal loan, these other folks must be in debt to their eyeballs.

:crackup:Yes, there 'should" be a Blakes every 20 miles or so. But there isn't on the roads I had to take. US 54 from Santa Rosa to Alamogordo. I-25 from Las Cruces to Albuquerque. Roswell to Soccorro via Carrizozo. But even if there were, you've gotta break it up every now and then with a stop at KFC. The Colonel does chicken right.

And that's why I now carry a 52 oz. glass of something drinkable where ever I go. I've diven those NM roads many times.

Yes, but not all motorcyclists (myself included) have that luxury and not all truckers (again, myself included) have CB's in their trucks. As for me, I have no use for one. My truck is computer restricted to a blistering 62 MPH. I'll have to blast a school zone to get a speeding ticket. Also, there are some idiot truckers out there who think the only vehicles on the road that have CB's are the trucks themselves and if you try to tell them otherwise they will call you a liar. I was beside a semi at the westbound turnoff for White Sands Missile Base one day. I was preparing to take the turn off and had been chatting with other truckers along the way. I had made it very clear that I was not in a "big truck" on this particular day, I was driving a Ford F-250 Pick-up. The radio I was using was an old (good old) Cobra 25LTD that had been peaked and tuned, had the 50 watt hot finals and had a Conex (echo) board installed. Translation = I was often mistaken for running a base unit. Anyhow, this bonehead beside me said that something was wrong with my radio, I was garbly. I explained that I was right beside him, that's was why it sounded so bad. He told me that I was not beside him, the only thing there was a white pick-up that was turning off. I told him, "Driver, here's your sign." One of the other drivers I had been visiting with replied that I indeed sounded good, the original driver was an idiot. I couldn't have said it better myself.
