  1. OK, I finally made my way back out to the garage to mess with the jack and take some pictures. First off, here's the jack. http://i49.tinypic.com/73303l.jpg The first thing I did was to check the pin behind the release pedal to make sure it wasn't stuck, it wasn't. As a matter of fact, I removed the pedal to check the pin and it came right out with the gentlest of tugs with the needlenosed pliers. I put everything back together and tried it again with no improved results. http://i50.tinypic.com/2w7fmg2.jpg Now on the other side of the jack are two screws. The larger one on the left (red arrow) was loose and backed out of the hole a bit when the jack was given to me. I've tried operating the jack with it set like i got it and with it run in to where it ought to be, both had the same result. I haven't touched the recessed screw on the right (yellow arrow) as I have no idea what it does or what it's for. http://i48.tinypic.com/2e31fn7.jpg The last thing I did was to turn the jack onto it's side and remove the fill plug. I filled the jack completely with jack fluid and still had no results. The only other thing I know to try is to drain off some of the fluid and see what happens.
  2. No, I haven't had a chance to get back out to the garage yet. Been workin' too many late nights on account of the snow.
  3. Thanks! My biggest concern is if I'm missing something on operating this jack. I haven't checked for a stuck valve yet, but I intend to.
  4. Yep, blue and yellow. 1500 lb lift capacity.
  5. Yep, that's where my friend got this one.
  6. I haven't gone as far as to check that yet, but I will.
  7. Thought of that, but can't seem to find one.
  8. Yep, i found that right off the bat. When I removed it, it blew across the garage floor and blew a stream of jack oil. Over-filled possibly?
  9. No sir, I sure don't. Granted, it doesn't look much different than other jacks I've seen. As far as I'm able to determine, I mash down on the big pedal repeatedly to raise the bike, then press the little pedal to drop it. The problem I'm having though is that it just doesn't seem to want to pump up.
  10. A friend of mine, who no longer rides, gave me a "Goodyear Racing" branded motorcycle jack. It's been a year or two since he's used it and he lost all the instructions that came with it. It's operation seems easy enough with the exception that I can't seem to make it go up. Anyone got an idea of what I might be doing wrong or at least have a scan of the manual that was supposed to come with this jack? Thanks in advance!
  11. Your problem may be in understanding how they're supposed to be wired to the bike. I'm not familiar with the horns you're using, so all I can do is speculate. With that being said, I would speculate that your horns are grounding out at the mounts. The way your system works, your hot goes straight to the horn, then the ground from the horn goes to the horn button, then on to the common ground.
  12. I'm still out, Jerry. I've got too many irons on the stove for that week end.
  13. I did this mod myself. My wife likes the results a lot better than having to use the old passenger pegs.
  14. Hi Jerry! I'm truly sad to say that I can't make it this time. I've already got a lot of things book for Saturday and Sunday and I won't be able to break loose to come to Borger. My main thing for Saturday is the Hogs and Dogs run on Saturday. Then there's a gun show in town for the same weekend. These two things along with all the other weekend honey-dos are gonna keep me busy. Maybe next Fall.
  15. Here's a pic of how the lights look now. I also changed the older photo a few posts up. http://i25.tinypic.com/21buhhw.png
  16. Those original lights at best are wishful thinking. You want to be seen night and day, not just when it's pitch black enough for those puny factory lights to finally show up. I've replaced all of the factory square thingies on my bumper with LED's thanks to my good friends at the trucker's chrome and light shops. Check this thread. 17. The Royal Gorge is purty neat too. It's just a tad higher than the Arroyo Hondo bridge at Taos. The Royal Gorge bridge is a suspension bridge though, whereas the Arroyo Hondo is not. The Arroyo Hondo bridge is what Tim Allen and his gang rode across in the movie "Wild Hogs".
  18. If you're talking about the Horseshoe Cabins, it ain't so friendly any more. The new owners have focused their efforts on replacing the store with a bar and grill. The cabins have not been upgraded in 10 years and are currentlly being poorly maintained. That along with the new owners not being very danged friendly can make for a regrettable visit. We visited Eagle Nest last July 4. We had made reservations at the Horseshoe Cabins. We caught wind through the other locals about how neglected the cabins had been, so we secured lodging at the Comfort Inn. We went back to the Horseshoe to cancel our reservation there, only to find out that the owners never intended to honor our reservations in the first place. Needless to say, the new owners didn't make a very good impression on us. Maybe this explains why they aren't listed on the Chamber of Commerce website for Eagle Nest. If you're near Taos, you've gotta visit the Arroyo Hondo Bridge just west of Taos.
  19. Possibly, but with the grips being air cushioned in the middle it may have not worked.
  20. Well, I finally got brave and ordered the above mentioned grips from J.C. Whitney and guess what? They don't work. They're aout a half inch too short. The good news is that this was relatively cheap lesson to learn and I had ordered other items with these grips, so it wasn't a total loss.
  21. As I had posted earlier in this thread, I normally wear a 3/4 helmet. Due to the 100+ degree temps we've had lately though, I've decided to switch to a white half-helmet. Yeah, I know, that's what a lot of the motorcycle cops around these parts wear also. And it may be true that I look as silly as I feel with a half-helmet on. But the fact of the matter is that I'm not riding without one and the white half-helmet is a lot cooler to wear in hot weather than my lack 3/4 helmet.
  22. Yep, that's what I figured. If basic math is involved, I don't stand a chance.
  23. I wish I knew. I'd be doing a bit of dabbling myself. Peter Schickele (a.k.a. P.D.Q. Bach) knows and he has built his "Left-Handed Sewer Flute", which sometimes plays in tune.
  24. AND doing it on a carrot. And when he's finished playing, he'll have a healthy snack in his hands.
