  1. Looks GGGrrrrrrreat! Dave, aka the Chubby Ape '05 RSTD:thumbsup:
  2. I'm sure you have heard enough about how the RSV and RSTD will beat the Harley hands down, but I think this Venture group might be a little biased. I will tell you though that I have recently taken a test ride on a 2009 Harley Ultra-glide and to be honest I was very dissappointed in the bike, especially when you consider the price of the machine. Here is a short list of the issues I had: 1. Vibration!: I rode the bike for 20 minutes of so and thought my filling were going to fall out! 2. Comfort: I stand about 5'10"( depending on which 7eleven I an leaving at the time) and I felt like I was riding a little honda trail 50. The seat it self was comfortable but the positioning of the floorboards was not ideal for my 30" inseam. 3. Power: Alot of the Harley guys say they ride a HOG for the sound, the last time I checked you can't ride the sound, you ride the bike! Besides I believe I read somewhere that Harley actually retards their timing to get that sound taking away from the horsepower. The Royal Star platform has alot more power and torque (at least it feels that way) and it is 250cc's smaller! Okay I ranted enough for now and should probably get back to work. I will say the Harley has a great looking bike, but for being in the Motorcycle business for as long as they have you would think technology wise that they would be somewhere out of the stoneage! 3. From one Vet to another, Thank YOU to all that have served and God Bless You! Ride safe. God speed. Dave AKA 'The Chubby Ape" 2005 RSTD
  4. NICE..................................................... Dave:thumbsup:
  5. Has anyone in the group tried Calvery Custom's backrest? I have seen them on Ebay, just wandering how well they work. Dave:think:
  6. I currently have a Matthews Outlander. It is a nice bow but it was a little pricey. It is a short bow but with the area I hunt you can hunt from a ground blind but a treestand usually is a lot more profitable. Dave
  7. Talk about a can of worms! I tried going with the Dunlop Elite 3 after all of the feedback I recieved from the members here, but due to manufacturing problems I ended up going with the Avon Venoms and have been extremely happy with them. My friend has a Nomad and he installed the Elite 3 on his, he likes the tire but he did notice a little bit of a harder ride than what he had before. Could just be him though. Dave:thumbsup:
  8. In a word......NICE!!!!!!!!!! Very nice ride my friend! Now I bet you wish it was March or April not January! Dave '05 RSTD:080402gudl_prv:
  9. Granted I did not ride the Vstar1300 but I did have a Vstar1100 classic. I did like the bike but was unhappy with a few things: 1. It didn't have enough power! Once you got above 65mph it seemed to really struggle. 2. The seat is not comfortable at all for say more than 2hrs of riding. 3. No fuel gauge. I now have a 05 RSTD and I am very happy with my purchase. I usually ride the TD to work which is 42 miles one way! and it is alot more comfortable to ride than the Vstar ever was. Not that the Vstar is a bad bike, but once you have had a Cadillac it's hard to go back to the Chevy! Dave
  10. I always thought the reason that oil went up so high was the futures investors, namely hedge fund investors that bought into oil to secure their failing real estate investments. In any event I believe this has all showed us that the WORLD economy cannot afford oil at $140+ a barrel! When we have to tighten our belts then the rest of the world will follow suit. It is nice to see oil down as low as it is, but it would be even nicer if the gas prices would go down to where they should be.(somewhere around $1.00 a gallon) But I will admit it is alot nicer to fill my F150 up for $25 versus $90! Dave:Venture:
  11. It is a nice bike, but the $14k price tag concerns me a little bit. For that kind of money I would rather get the little Mrs the Can AM Spyder, at least I could some fun on it also! Dave aka the Chubby Ape
  12. Unfortunately I happened to pick one of those professions that doesn't close after a holiday, so I will be working til 1500hrs then start packing to deer hunting up in Pa. Dave, aka the Chubby Ape:thumbsup:
  13. I have also heard that the MSRP will be around $18000, cheaper than a Ultra Classic and Gold Wing anyways, but for as long as we have been hearing about this bike when is the bike finally going to be released for sale and what will the official price be? Dave, aka the 'Chubby Ape' '05 RSTD
  14. The area you are pointing to is what they call your SC joint or sterno-clavicial joint. Have you ever broken your collar bone before? I have the identical bike to yours and have had rt shoulder problems all my life. For me the biggest thing that helped was using a throttle buddy, this way I eased up my grip and less fatigue on the arm and shoulder. One other question I would ask, does the pain only stay on the one side or does it radiate to both? A suggestion that might work also might be a wider set of bars, but the Royal Stars already have a pretty wide set of handle bars as it is! Good Luck, Dave
  15. Seeing that I live in Culpeper, I am just about a half hours ride to Skyline. My friends and I usually just go over the mountain on RT 211 to Luray. It's a great short ride and there are a lot of good eateries in and around Luray. By the way the pics look great, if you ever come back by this way give me a call or shoot me an email. Dave
