  1. My light bar will be the death of me.. 6 month after getting the bike the bar got loose and I could tighten it but man what a pain in the patootie to access those bolts properly etc.. Earlier this summer I stopped at a Yammy shop in Maine to get my shock replaced under warranty and they were kind enough to fix a wiring problem I had in the front.. but in the process they took the bar off, but appears it didn't get installed properly as I've been having to re-tighten it all the time and it never seemed to really tighten.. When I put the bike up on jack recently to do some winter maintenance on it, I noticed how very loose the bar actually is and that one bolt is completely loose.. It won't tighten yet it won't come out. I'll have to pull the whole front fairing off to access it properly but alas, I can't pull the fairing off if I can't get that bolt out to move the lights out of the way.. what the heck?! So the big question is: what part of the triple tree are these bolts actually threaded into? It always seemed that if I didn't get the bolt started at just the perfect angle they would simply turn and turn and turn but never tighten, then angle it a bit and boom it would tighten.. It seems there is something amiss other than a stripped bolt or dead threads back in there and I can't see well enough back in there to determine what the heck is going on. the two local Yami shops can't even figure out what bolts I need to order to replace the existing ones as apparently these bolts magically "poof" appear whenever they need to install a light bar.. Can anyone toss in some insight to this problem or even be able to help me acquiring new bolts for this issue? I purchased the extension block which move your light bar ahead enough to permit your fairing removal without taking down the light bar but once again I had issues installing this block because of that acute angle of the bolt issues.. I could never get that block to tighten up properly.. A most frustrating situation.. sigh... Almost to the point of ripping the whole dang thing off and buck-sheeing signal lights up to the fairing and adding highway lamps to the forks.. at least they won't come loose after a few hours of riding.. help!
  2. You'll want to watch out about going too high on the rev limiter, anything over 7200 rpm without proper valve springs could lead to problems, so I have been told by several mechanics.. something to do with valve float.. I have my VStar rocked up for such work.. but the RSV.. ooooh.. I'd hate to bring the revs over 7G Just a cautionary note..
  3. There was a VERY noticeable difference when I put it in my VStar... but not in my RSV.. it's a cheaper alternative if you blow your OEM module.. hence why I changed mine out after all the problems I had this past summer. You can change your curves and RPM limits, but I kept mine at sane levels.. Can't remember what curve I left it at though.. Hmm
  4. I shouldn't think so.. I've had these devices on my RSV and VStar and never had any 'warranty' issues about it.. Mind you, if you put in the wrong settings and blow your engine, then yeah, then you'd have issues..
  5. A couple of friends had gone the shorter antenna route and cursed the day he made the change over, lack of range and poor reception were the main complaints. Its probably all personal taste but a lot of people like the looks of my thicker antennas compared the whips. Being that my RSV is a Midnight, they match up nicely.. And as one person already noted, shorter antennas might get ya poked in the face / eye area.. But seeing how not too expensive you could easily swap out the shorties for the longies later on.
  6. I must live in the only metro area in North America that doesn't have any of those pipe clamps.. You can get all kinds of plastic ones, or almost similar but not exactly the right type clamps but you can't find those clamps anywhere in or around the city here.. Last time I'd see those were in the Air Force, used to secure hydraulic lines in aircraft but even the local hydraulic shops don't have them. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I may be able to find them or gah, even order them online? Thanks in advance folks.. Santa rides a Yamaha..
  7. Why pay more of HD antennas that the firesticks do as well a job at for a fraction of the cost..?
  8. But what's the fun in THAT?!?!
  9. See, that's the thing.. you are either going to be listening to the AUX signal or the AM/FM signal.. you can't really listen to both on the bike's stereo system.. The voice prompts will come through the AUX signal (set the controller to AUX vice AM/FM) Ideally, it would be nice if the AUX could cut in over AM/FM like CB does.. The ZUMO will mute it's MP3 music when Lucille talks..
  10. Tom, YES! I did receive the cans and MANY thanks sir! Much appreciated.. My apologies, I thought to have had msg'd you about them... One of those cans went into the van ; )
  11. I haven't found a way how to do it on my Midnight venture and Garmin ZUMO GPS. I basically load it up with MP3 tunes and use that.. when ever Lucille needs to tell me where to turn, she cuts out the MP3 music and tells me.. then resumes playing.. She's a sweety..
  12. Same here I love mine as well.. I didn't install the fold down hardware though, I now roll my bike into the heated garage so I don't have to bother with fold downs.. The hardware listed in the projects here felt waaaaay too lose and caused some vibration, so I removed those and fixed attached the mounts as is.. After 500 miles or more, there is no problem with this install and though I 'manually adjusted my SWR without meter' it all works awesome.. And since the bike is a Midnight, it looks dang good too.. I'm gonna black shrink wrap the chrome hardware this winter.. to give it that nice blackened look as well.
  13. Just had to leave a note about this product.. though I put it through the bike late this fall, it cleaned out the fuel system but while it didn't do schmick for the fuel mileage it do wonders for the throttle response though.. wow.. A few weeks ago my minivan got rear ended and destroyed so I had to spend my winter hot tub money on a new vehicle. So a 2006 Grand Caravan with 80,000 kms on it, in great super shape and at a great price.. took it to a shop to have it independently inspected etc and it passed with flying colours.. The only niggly thing about it was the cruising and throttle response.. just felt kinda rough, ya know? In goes a can of BG44K and after a full tank of gas gone through the system, wow.. what a freaking difference!! And now I see a fuel mileage improvement as well.. what a diff. I got a few extra cans for the future sitting on the shelves.. this stuff works nice.. wow. Might as well toss a little into the Snow blower as well ; )
  14. Hmmm sounds promising.. Hmmmm
  15. Oh gees, my cruise control had stopped working this fall and it was AFTER I had a shop install the black braided steel cables throughout the bike.. (throttle cables).. methinks I shall be paying them a visit again in the spring to get THIS sorted out.. I most likely will have the tank off the bike this winter when I change the plugs, what exactly should I be looking for in there (where exactly?) That would make sense why it stopped working after the cable change over.. Hmm
  16. I know Shane, I dropped off my VStar engine to him last year to get it rebuilt after a local "idiot mechanic" killed the engine trying to install one of Shane's kit into it. Shane is an awesome fun guy, goes that huge extra mile to help fellow bikers.. I should check see about that exhaust hehe.. The Larossa pipes I had on were ridiculously LOUD, put them Harley bikes to shame at the Loud Pipes competition hehehe But the MAIN thing I would like to know is how does it affect the performance of your bike? Leaving in quiet mode would most likely give you optimum engine performance while LOUD mode must affect your mileage and performance? How LOUD is louder with these?
  17. I'll be looking for a replacement shifter, one that I can hack off completely but still have the original as spare.. Someone had made the comment once about what happens if your big toe gets injured, or a hang nail, bunion or gout etc.. the HEEL section would feel real nice at that point.. Hmmm
  18. Check your local car service centres at the dealerships, 44K is usually a 'service' they offer, not a product they sell over the counter, hence why none of the parts dept I called knew of this stuff.. the local rep guy even called me to ask how I knew of the product.. I put a whole can in a full tank of gas, road the hell out of the bike at higher revs and let it sit over night, put a fresh tank of gas the next day and wow.. NOW you feel the difference.. wow. Cleans the guts right out of it.. But as others mentioned, what about the seals? I was assured by the product rep that no harm could come to your seals as it doesn't affect them at all except for taking junk off of them.
  19. I have my holder but having trouble locating the rivets.. Hmmm
  20. Very simple to do, relatively 'easy' to do the speakers.. it's the rear ones that got me funnied up
  21. Ya gotta love the ingenuity and 'buck-shee' abilities of some people here.. =)
  22. Eh? Too busy riding in this 12'C weather, byes.. take photos? Why, and make you jealous? Or worse, make it easier for you to find me for winter storage? lolol I have some pics but have to get some pages made up and posted to my server, send you the addy.. Unfortunately the paying clients get first attention to the photography and server time.. sigh.. But I'll post you a link for the pics.
  23. Hahaha.. I have my bike in there now, amongst the debris and dirt from the construction.. Ahh it REALLY looks nice in there.. Once I get my bench built and shelving up and the other bike in there, it'll be a beaut! I have to keep it clean and tidy as well because it'll be an annex to my photo studio.. I can only get small bikes into the studio downtown but the larger bikes will come up here to the house =)
  24. That yes.. two wall plugs per wall, each a 20 amp fuse. Under ideal conditions, I can run 4 20 amp devices in the garage at once.. I had a 30 amp construction heater (draws 20A) in there yesterday to dry the mud on the gyprock and it didn't take long to heat and it held the heat for a long time.. Insulation's great lol
  25. Gees man.. not so frikken loud!! The ol' lady might hear ya! It's for work work work and more work.. Not for fun at all.. none.. not at all..
