Oooh soon.. oh so soon.. I'll be moving into my new insulated 24x24 floor heated garage.. Someone had mentioned I shouldn't park the bike with the tires on the bare concrete floor as it may 'leech' the compounds out of the tires??? Once the builders have the mudding done on the drywall and the rest of the 20 amp services are connected, it's just a paint job and building a work bench to keep me busy this winter.. AHHHHHHHhhhh

I got my first can from an anonymous supplier but I have 2 more coming from a gent online here.. You can find it on eBay by searching BG44K..
-
Hey guys, just to report in.. I got a can of BG44k the other day and dumped it in the fuel tank.. ran the bike for 145 miles and then parked the bike for a few days due to silly snow storm.. took the bike out today, filled it up with new fuel and took it out for a spin today. They say that it's with the fuel tank AFTER the mix that you feel and see the diff. Today, when I flashed up the bike, it sounded quite differently than any other time.. and wow, the ride was smooth, acceleration was more pronounced and you could feel less vibes throughout the throttle range.. Now I can't say much about the mileage on just two tanks of gas but I don't think it's improved any, really but wow, talk about a nice smooth engine on this bike. I think when spring time comes around and just after I do my next fuel filter change I'll pass another can through.. to clean it out from the winter riding and storage.. =)

OH AWESOME.. Couldn't find those on my own.. wow.. However I'm looking for a brand new disc.. the one listed is off a 99.. prolly much wear.. But I thank you very much sir!!

yep still want those 2 cans M8.. fer sur! My buddy and I are planning to fly down to TX in JAn / FEB to get a mid winter ride in, hooking up with some fun lads down there.. we're gonna have to rent HDs while there but man.. should be fun. And then, later this spring, we're planning to ride down to see SkyDoc and Goose for some hands on teachin how to do maintenance on our bikes. So hopefully we'll be seeing ya!

I got my hands on some BG44K and put it in the fuel.. Can came with a yellow funnel attachment that worked rather well I should add.. There was some odd looking square holed disk in the bottom of the can.. I'm assuming that's there to add in the shaking of the can mixing? I put it in a full tank of fuel and ran the bike down to the bottom of the tank, on reserve and now going to let it sit for a couple of day (gotta wait for this snow storm to pass).. and then take the bike out for a fill up.. I ran the bike at rather high revs and man I think this bike's fuel system must have been dirty!! A few times the engine cough, almost like it was clearing it's throat and the throttle response was getting a little better.. because it was so cold out the bike was feeling different than the week before but it felt good.. after 140 miles in 32'F weather, highway speeds, the bike was feeling rather spirited.. From what people have been telling me, its the next tank of gas that i will really feel the difference.. Hopefully so.. I'm guessing I have perhaps one or two weeks of safe riding left before it gets horrible out there.. so I wanted to clean the gunk out before putting the bike aside for winter.. Saturday will tell how this all worked out.

Does anyone know where I could possibly lay my hands on a 2008 LEFT engine guard? Used preferably (cheaper) and where in Canada (or shipped to Canada) can I find a rear rotor for a 2006 Midnight? The extremely few places I've found won't ship to Canada.. Seems the steel might violate some kind of HLS or something.. Cheers

fuel pump committed suicide
Seaking replied to starrider60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The fuel filter is in a simply annoying area to get to.. if you were in that area you're half way there.. I basically pushed the filter down through it's holder with the fuel pump off it's mounts.. its the quick dirty way of doing it but quicker.. and dirtier but works for me the last 4 times I changed other people's fuel filter.. -
Another Cruise Control Problem
Seaking replied to BJB's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gonna have to try that.. my cruise no longer works either.. I switch it on, get the green light, hit the set button and wait for the system to catch up and keep the bike rolling but what happens is the 2 green lights come in, but the speed bleeds off until the yellow light comes on.. no cruise.. either in 4th or 5th gear.. All the lights come on when supposed to but cruise doesn't engage.. ideas? -
Steering Problem
Seaking replied to crockettrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah it's a pain in the assets to get that job done but in the end it will be worth it.. I'm almost tempted to have mine sent to the shop soon before real winter sets in.. That way, the bike WILL be ready to rock and roll next spring.. and it won't be an ignorant thing to deal with.. MY problem is that we have 2 dealerships in town and I'm sorta not keen on other of them ripping the bike apart for some reason.. dunno why but ergh.. BUT.. ya know how it is.. suck it up buttercup.. -
fuel pump committed suicide
Seaking replied to starrider60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, I'm convinced that my severely clogged fuel filter contributed to the subsequent fuel pump failure I suffered a month or so later.. Over worked the pump to the point it couldn't keep up.. So that's why regardless of how annoying the task is, I'll be changing it often.. This does not mean YOUR pump is going to fail.. -
Steering Problem
Seaking replied to crockettrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes, it is THAT shyte job no one wants to do.. =( I had my neck tightened and the tech did the bearing test, found them smooth.. but that was last year.. gonna have to check it again this winter.. -
High Output Stator from Buckeye Performance
Seaking replied to Joopster55's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
How was the soldering? They mention that being required? I have a HD stator in my VStar which works very nicely- 69 replies

Steering Problem
Seaking replied to crockettrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you're able to put the bike up on jack so that the bike is level and front end not touching the ground, you can try the 'bounce' test on your steering.. Ensuring there is no binding of the cables, place the handle bar straight and then give one side a stiff push to the side. The bar should swing out to the far stop, bounce and then settle down against the stop.. If the bar bounces back and forth a lot.. then your neck is loose.. if the bar stops in the middle of travel, then this may indicate a flat spot in your bearing set up and should be attended to when you get the chance.. if not sooner.. The way I read your symptoms would seem that you need to replace your bearings.. -
Hi Don, the local rep here tells me a once a year treatment and a 5,000 mile interval additive (missing the name of their product right now) will maintain a clean system throughout the year.. Seeing how I put over 32,000 miles this past summer.. it's gonna be a few bottles LOL
-
LOL you haven't heard that I have had a lot of fuel issues this summer, first the fuel filter and then the fuel pump causing me being stranded on the side of the road a couple of time.. :0 Fuel filter gets changed once a year on my bike
-
Dood, you're on our itinerary for next May when Kevin and I are heading down to see Goose in TX lol.. right after Rolling thunder.. or before depending on weather and such.. Give Jean a hug from both of us.. =)
-
Call the 'service dept' and not the parts dept.. as the parts people have no idea what service dept is doing.. i went through the whole rignamarole..
-
From what I was told, the dealers and garages listed provide a 'service' with this product, however, if you do an eBay search you may find the product available.. The local rep here said he might be able to set me up for future purchases..
-
ergh.. distance always works against me lol
-
I have over 55,000 miles on the bike, a lot of it this summer, running through various states, zones and areas in various weather conditions, dry wet dust etc. I'm not looking to use the 44K to 'winterize' but to clean out the fuel system.. winterizing will still be done but I'm looking to clean it out.. Yes 44K IS expensive but from what I'm reading and hearing from people there is a performance / cost ratio benefit involved with it.. Seafoam will still be used time to time. But a good clean out should help.. I run the bike often enough in the winter here when the roads are passable just to say I can ride 12 months of the year..
-
As SkyDoc mentioned, the increase in RPM is where you notice the improvement in riding.. I'm entertaining the thought of having this mod done based on a couple of factors.. Around here the speed limit is 110 kph.. I can cruise this at a low 5th gear rpm but the bike has no guts.. or at a higher rpm in 4th gear which gives lots of fun but man it eats gas.. With a VMax rear, I am guessing it will leave me in an rpm range between where I sit in 4th and 5th on highway runs.. thus giving me the better mileage than being in 4th and yet still give me better kick in the pants than riding in 5th.. There is quite the 'give and take' involved with this swap I'm sure..

http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html will tell you a lot. If you recall, a lot of people here use SEAFOAM for a periodic cleaning of the carbs and such.. Some have found that 44K actually works better, albeit more expensive..
-
Thanks Tom, just what I was looking for actually.. I just wanted to get a good cleaning before tucking the bike away.. I end up taking it out for a spin when ever possible in the winter months.. now that I have a heated garage, and can get it out onto the street easier, I plan to simply keeping the tank up and some stabil into it.. But wanted to get a cleaning done foremost..

Any of you lads out there use 44K Power Enhancer for cleaning out your fuel system? Soon will be the time to put the bike away for the winter, I'm still trying to squeeze in as much riding as possible before that time.. So this would be an opportune time to clean out the carbs and such with this product.. However, what's the best method? Full can in the tank and run it hard? Run some full strength though the system for a bit ? What's the general consensus on this?
