  1. I agree. It is possible that he was pulled over on the other side of the road though and just pulling back on. Still a dangerous place to do it but I would rather believe that than consider the possibility that he had drifted that far into the other lane.
  2. I agree that they make sense. Once you get used to them, they are much better that red lights. I've actually seen quite a few in the newer suburbs in Michigan.
  3. Yes, that is correct. There are actually a number of different parts that can interchange with the ones that he listed. There are several brands and models of bases for example. Also, if you don't want to remove the seat, tank, fairing and etc., you can just cut the end off the existing AM/FM cable and solder a coax connector to it. The fold overs are optional. They are handy if you use a cover on your bike but otherwise, not necessary and though I do have them on mine, I think you are better off without them UNLESS you cover your bike.
  4. I had a Memphis Fats on a '95 Honda Shadow Ace and it was really a nice shield. I just looked for you though and they are as much as the one that you priced.
  5. There are some. I've been going around one every day for the past couple of days to get to my hotel in Syracuse, NY. There is also one about 7 miles from my house in the little town of LaGrange. Actually, I've seen more over the past couple of years than I remember in the past.
  6. HEY HEY.....you better not be including NE Texas.
  7. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  8. I don't think the bike is the trailer queen...you will have to look in the mirror to find it.
  9. I didn't even know that you could SAY Harley Guy and Brain in the same sentence. JUST KIDDING...I have owned Harley's and we like all brands here...gotta razz you a bit though. To be honest, I would sincerely suspect that the electronics guy missed a cold solder. You can't always see them. The normal way to do it is to hit all the pins with the soldering iron to be sure. Several folks have done it a couple of times before the issue was resolved.
  10. See this current discussion. Most of it should apply to you also. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58942
  11. Yea but the bad part is, I became very familiar with all of that when I installed my Flanders bars and the SS throttle cables. It was about 3 years ago but ....... anyway........old age is NOT all it's cracked up to be.
  12. OOPS...you are indeed correct. Sorry about that.
  13. Yea, 30 minutes is probably what it took me. The CB side only runs under the trunk. I picked up a short (about 12") adapter at a local truck stop that converted from the Motorola type plug to the standard coax connector. Just screw it onto the antenna and then plug it into the female Motorola connector that comes out of the CB box. On the FM side, I just cut the Coax and soldered the connector onto the existing cable. I didn't have to pull the seat, tank, fairing, etc. I did all of this several years ago and it's worked fine.
  14. Yes but the junction box where the cables connect is mounted on the left side of the frame just under the gas tank, towards the front. It is a black somewhat circular black box. You will see three cables connecting to it. One goes to the throttle, one to the carbs and one exits the bottom and goes to the cruise module inside the lower cowling.
  15. '04 model according to the profile. Likely out of warranty.
  16. Probably not. First of all, it is a LONG way if he lives in Nebraska. Secondly, we already have a pinstriper did a great job last year and is coming again this year. I think one is enough. It does look great though.
  17. You will have to change the bases. It's not that the Firestiks are special, it's that the Yamaha antenna mounts are NOT standard. Here is a good link that shows you what is needed. http://bludolphintravel.com/gmg/marshallmod.htm
  18. Yea...I thought I was going nuts too but then figured it out. He HAD to make us work for it.
  19. Actually, looks EXCELLENT...that's even BETTER than good. Great job.
  20. One day this very sensitive, animal loving guy was driving and then he hit a bunny. He got of his car and realized he had hit the Easter bunny, so he starts crying. A couple minutes later a blonde lady drives by and gets out of her car. She asks the man what happened and he told her "I KILLED the Easter bunny!!!" She walked to her car and brought back a can. She sprayed the bunny and a few seconds later the bunny got up, jumped 10 feet and turned back and waved then he did it again and again until he was out of sight. The man asked the woman what the can was. She said "You really wanna know" He said "Yes" Wait for it Wait for it Wait for it Wait for it Hair Spray."Revives Dead hare and gives it a permanent wave"
  21. I have searched and found absolutely NOTHING on any Michelin Commander II tires except that they are standard on the Indian. I even sent Michelin an email about 4 days ago asking them but have not received a response.
  22. That magnet just doesn't seem strong enough to me. I tried it and was constantly having to scoot the antenna back into place every few miles. It also has screw holes in the bottom and the mounts are drilled for the holes. What good is the magnet if you need to screw it down also. I'm not sure but I suspect that the magnet is there for if and when you use the unit in your car so that you can stick it to the roof but the screws are there for when you use it on your bike. Although, when I have mine in the car, I just lay it on the dash and it works fine.
  23. OOPS...I missed that part also. uh....please disregard what I said about the dealer...they DID tell you. Sorry about that. So, I'll just say that it sounds like they did good by you. A lot of shops would have just told you that the bike would not be available until the new parts came in. They went the extra mile and tried to get you riding instead of waiting. Apparently it didn't work out but they made an effort that many would not have.
  24. Sorry to hear of your problems. In my opinion, it is a dealer problem more than a bike problem. Things can happen. A plug or coil can go bad or many other things. The fact that the dealer just threw a coil on it that is obviously not the correct one and apparently not working shows that they are not very professional. It would be one thing if they told you that they did not have the proper coil and were going to get one ordered and try a different one while waiting but that is not what they did. I would be very suspect of any work they do on it in the future.
  25. Nice. What year is it? Somebody I'll add something like that to my toy collection.
