Well honestly the guy that runs this place is not that bright. I got into a verbal argument with the guy about 5 years ago because i wanted to buy the lock mechanism from a top storage container that he had (for the venture). The bottom of the container was completly gone and he wanted $125.00 for the bag. I asked him why he couldnt just take the lock out of the bag and he said the bag would then be useless??? Well the bottom was missing from the bag and it was already useless...I finally went back to the yard about a year ago and the bag was still there..lol if the bike is an 85 after the 2nd gear fix then I am good with the price. thanks for the help. -

May not be the right place for this ?, but I have found a (what they say is an) 1984 venture royale in the junk yard that is complete and they said they would let it go for $1200.00 I am OK with this price but the yard said that it needed a new stator.. found one on ebay for $139.00. here is the thing i am wondering about though, it has front and back floor boards with heel toe shifter as well as highway floor boards. did they offer the floor boards for the driver as an after market product for the first jen? I know that this was available for the passenger but have never seen this for the driver. the bike has 45000miles on it comes with all the keys and here is another thing that I am wondering, the top storage container lock assembly is the one that is actuated by 2 buttons http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqQOKpcE3JTCJC14BNzuuFkmqQ~~_14.JPG like this one? my 84 doesnt have this lock assembly (I insert the key unlock and lift), was this an option on the 84? Could this be an 85 with a good transmission? please help I wanna get this bike, so all I have left is to clear it with the financial advisor. Thanks in advance mike

2nd gear trans suggestion
talonsx2 replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
so if i were to buy these parts all i would have to do is drop them in and I would be good? I just spent $180.00 on gear 5th wheel (the one with the three nubs). I could take it bake for a small restocking fee... So do I absolutley need to also buy gear 2nd wheel too (the one that the three nubs jump out of)? that would be another 100.00 bucks. thanks in advance. Michael- 22 replies

Middle Drive Gear NUT?

So I am tackling the 2nd gear issue on the old 1st gen and my question to ya'll is this, in order to get the split washers off of the shaft do I have to take the end NUT off first :think:or do I compress the spring with the NUT in place? It looks like a powerful spring so I dont want to test the old SAFETY GLASSES today...lol Thanks in advance:bowdown: Michael

Hey Dingy thanks for the reply. This may seem obvious to some :whistling:but in order for me to remove the Banjo I first need to drain all the fluid out first right? :confused24:How do I drain that? Thanks again.. Michael:225:

So I have started the tear down of the 1st gen so that I may (after 10 Yrs) replace the 2nd gear. In the tear down I have come across a few problems that I am wondering about. The first question being do I have to remove the clutch release cylinder in order to remove the engine? I have found that one of the bolts is stripped :thumbdown:and its a 6MM? allen bolt. If you have seen or done this before you know how tight it is in there. Any suggestions on how to remove this bolt? Thanks in advance:bowdown: Michael
