  1. Before you go out and buy a 2x4 and a few L brackets take a look through your garage and see if you have any rope laying around. I did this last night and it worked out great. I had a piece of rope that was the same Diameter (??) as the slots that are in the clutch basket and used that. I will post pics Wednesday so you can see. I did the buy a hole lot of different sized sockets as well and it came down to a 30MM that still seems a little large but it did work with the impact wrench. I will try to explain the rope device. take one end of the rope and place it in one of the slots on the basket and thread it to the back of the basket then wrap the rope around the basket (Clockwise). This covers and secures the original end that was placed in the slot of the basket. once you have 5 or 6 wraps on the basket secure the running end off/ on the cross bar that is just above the basket with a half hitch and go to town. You will have a few unproductive turns of the wrench until the rope tightens on the basket. I was unable to break loose the nut manually so I had to break out the impact wrench and zing it was done..
  2. The magnet worked great. thanks. I will see if its in gear in the morning. do you know what size the nut is that holds the basket in? the book says its a 32mm but I have a 29mm that doesnt fit and a 30 mm that has a little play in it.
  3. I will try the magnet, I have one and didnt think of that. Thsnks. The friction plates and pressure plate is off the bike and the cage that the friction plates go onto (Clutch Boss?) has the excessive rotation (Manually) before it grabs. Thanks again.
  4. Hello to all, I have a few questions for anyone who can help. 1984 VR 1. How do you get the push rod, ball, and large push rod out of the center of the clutch boss? 2. How much free play (Rotational) should there be with the clutch boss (Housing?) itself? I have about 2 inches before it catches. Thanks in advance. MIKE
  5. I pay $30 a year for my 84 venture royale liability only.. Colorado Springs
  6. I have a 84 VR and that is the remote that I have on my bike. Tune up button and a mute button. That's all there is to it. After a little review I have discovered that it depends if you have a CB or not? The thread below is a pic of what I have but it is not my bike, belongs to a poster here on venturerider. The pic is a bike of another web site and you can see it has two? Best of luck to you. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=2405 http://i7.ebayimg.com/08/i/000/eb/51/ffbb_1.JPG :225:Michael
  7. I had this problem and bought new speakers which worked for awhile. Pulled the bike out this year and discovered the real problem (for my situation) and it was the stock wiring that was solderd to the speaker. went out and purchased some new speaker wire and the problem has been resolved. pull the turn signals for a quick diagnoses. this worked for me.. good luck Michael Move to the right for sirens and lights..
