  1. Well,,,,, I took a ride last night and it was around 8°C and almost clear sky. Never could understand why the guy named this country of ours Iceland:think::think: Supposed to be warm throughout the weekend so I might get a ride or two before packing the bike up for winter. Remember that I took my last ride last winter the 3rd. of December. O.K. I´ll admit it - It was freezing and I still remember the slipping of the tire on the ice cold asphalt,,,,,but still there was no snow - just cold as he,,$%&.
  2. Dear fellow members. I am one happy guy now. Just booked and paid for my airline ticket to USA the 26th. of May 2009 to attend "Freebirds Maintenance Day" and meet with all of you nice people. Heading back the 4th. of June. I am like a little kid waiting for Christmas - counting the days!! Can not express how much I am looking forward to this. My bike is in storage at motorcycle shop in Bearsville New York, ready for my arrival, tuned and lubed all through. Henry the nice gentleman in Woodstock NY. who sold me the bike will be picking me up at JFK and I will be spending a couple of days with him and his wife. Then on Friday morning I will hit the road for Oberlin Ohio. Estimate to arrive around 18.00 hours. Spend the weekend with you guys and then head back to Warren Ohio to meet Jim and the guys at the dealership(Yamaha of Warren) who sold me the bike I have in Iceland. Plan to drop by his place without notice and say hello. Think it will be more fun that way. Great guys there who have stretched out many times regarding accessories and spareparts for me and my riding buddys here in Iceland. Most likely spending a night there and taking a slow ride with lot of stops on my way back to New York riding through Pensylvania and hopefully find a Amish region and stop by and say hello so to speak. Question - Would I want to ride through Pocono Mountains in PA? When arriving in New York I will stay with my friend Henry for a couple of days and plan to take day rides upstate to Adirondak Park (Lake) as well as doing some neighbourhood riding in Woodstock. None of this is pinpointed except my arrival in New York and meeting you guys at Freebirds. The rest will be just roughly planned with all possibilities to change directions whenever I feel like it. If any of you guys have any suggestions then by all means speak out. My travelling plan is based on doing a little bit of web browsing as well as using Google Earth. So chime in and give this little Eskimo some suggestions and or guidance. Last but not least - Where would you guys recomend me staying in Oberlin for these two nights? Forget the tent - I am to spoiled for that and hate snakes! Read the other day an older post from someone who had been riding in the US and staying in small towns at 40 US$ motels. Is that possible? All I have found are 70 US$+ for the night. I am not picky regarding acomodation - all I need is a bed to sleep and a shower and I am happy. O.K.,,,,O.K.,,,, I know it is almost seven months but bare with me. I am just so exited. :dancefool::dancefool:
  3. So,,,,,, He came to his senses and is getting a Venture and will live happily ever after,,,,,,
  4. Hey Squeeze. Do they use the Torx in USA ? I know we have it all over Europe but as you might know then these guys in the US are not the first to jump on a new idea even though it works better :stirthepot::stirthepot:

  10. Way to go !!!!!!!!!!! Congratulation and ride safely.
  11. Ohh,,, the white stuff. We use that to keep our bath water from getting to warm. We just add a showel or two,,,,,,, Regarding snowmobile tracks we don´t use them. It is all about skills you know,,,,,,,,, :rotf::rotf::rotf: Were you based in Keflavik Nato base Glenn or just passing through?
  12. You guys are just a bunch of "Starababa´s" - (polish for "very old ladies"). Here in Iceland we tough guy´s use gloves to keep our hands from getting to warm. :rotf::rotf:
  13. Good news Don. Gotta go and book some flight tickets. Will most likely bother you guys in the not so far away future regarding advice on motels in PA, OH, and North Carolina. Gotta start doing some route planning. Really looking forward to see the famous POND and hear all the stories,,,,,:big-grin-emoticon: Is there a list one has to put his name on or something ?????
  14. Yamaha does not hand out codes for their paint colors. They want to sell you the body parts ready for sky high prices. I hate it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:soapbox:

    trick or treat

Little difficult to read - but a funny story.
  18. Yes she knows - she was the demonstrator. Just love that girl
  19. Don you should go for it. Even though these Indians are by many rated as troublesome bikes then they do have a high price tag. And also if you find out that it is to much of a work and hazzle to restore it you can always sell it. For me its a no loose situation. Looking forward to see it all chromed and shiny in the spring on maintenance day.
  20. I saw a couple that looked better last night
  21. Bought mine from the Yamaha dealer in Iceland. In USA many shops carry the Nolan helmets and comunication systems and you can also get it off eBay. For full information click the link. http://www.n-com.it/en/n-com/index.html
  22. Me and my wife have Nolan helmets with bluetooth installed. Works perfectly with no bugs, crystal clear and we simply love it. Had no problems with it and the installation and tuning was no problem. Hooks up with the mobile phone and the Garmin as well. Simply love it.
  23. Congrats. They are our future!
  24. Well, releasing a CD has been discussed. But I think it is to soon. I think that they should keep experimenting, finess their playing and performing and be given the oppurtunity to mature a little as a band. Lets give them a couple of years and see what happens. What you can hear on www.myspace.com/hinir are actually studio recordings except the song "hundred million pushups" the instrumental song. That was just done with a simple homestudio. So history has been preserved so to speak because in the future it is very important to be able to listen to older recordings and hear how the music and playing has advanced or/and changed/matured. When and if there is a CD I will post and everybody at VR.org will have a special price for sure. Thank you all for your kind words. Warms my heart and tells me that my opinion on their music and playing is not entirely colored from being the father of Valli.
  25. Hi Bill. Weather is around 35°F today and is getting colder by every week. Usually hangs anywhere from 15°F to 40°F through the winter. Rarely gets colder here on the south coast. The other parts get a little colder. Riding season is from middle April to middle of October. The name is kind of a bluff. Actually a very mild winter here and the summers are o.k. even though we would like them a little warmer and more stable weather vice.
