  1. I bow to that officer! Double the size of the course and I might be able to do it .
  2. Well after reading what Timgray and Beer30 said about the undercoat and Bedliner paint, I went out this morning to Wally world and got the Rustolium Undercoat in the "rattle can" (never heard it called rattle can--around here we call it spray bomb) Anyway I just finished covering the hitch with the undercoating, it gives it a flat textured finish and it's rubbery. I mainly want the hitch to be protected so I'm fine with the way it looks..
  3. No I didn't get it powder coated, but that is a good idea. Didn't even think of it. I think that would save me having to take it off and re-paint it every so often. I'll check into it though and let you know how much it will coat
  4. I ordered a trailer and was told it would be here in 2 to 3 weeks.. Well it's been a week and a half, (seems like a month).. I only needed a small trailer, so I ordered a Tag-Along http://www.lilthoroughbredtrailers.com/id2.html So far, I took my bike to the paint store "Finish Masters" they took a little computer out to the bike and came up with a color match I'm going to paint the trailer to match the bike. I fabricated a hitch for the bike pretty much following the design of others here. Below are a couple of pictures of how it came out and how it looks on the bike. Yes I know the bike is dirty but the weather here has been crappy.. It is hard to keep clean. Peggy and I are looking forward to using the trailer. It will make our trips a little more comfortable.
  5. Prayers for Marcie and you are on the way for a positive outcome Hoping for the best.

  8. Like everyone else said that little intake is for a hose. the horn can be disassembled from the compressor and mounted in a different position This way you can hide the compressor and just have the horn portion showing . A friend of mine did this and it works great. I mounted mine same place you mounted yours, but I was going to seperate the two and mount them in different spots. Just haven't found the time.. Too busy riding!!!
  9. Please put me down for 2 second generation pins Thanks for doing this for us.. Waiting for order information
  10. You need two wrenches, a 17mm and a14mm the 17mm will loosen the base the 14mm will aim the antenna so when you lift the knurled peice to fold the antenna down it will point to the front of the bike. So loosen the both nuts and take the antennas off. install in just the oposite direction using the 14mm to aim it to the front when folding it down. Hope this helps..

  13. We are originally from N.Y. Just last week I had to go up to see my dad. He's 80 now and my sister who lives up on long Island said we'd better get up there now dad's not doing to well. When we got up there it turned out he just has the 80 yr.old stuph!! We almost could not keep up with him!!! We took two days going up, but came home in one day 800+ miles. A very long day. We did stay for a couple of days but I had to get back for work. We rode out to Sayville to see Peggy's sister and I wanted to see the Vietnam Memorial they have there Bald Hill. Very impressive.

    9/11

I grew up in New York. I saw the Twin Towers going up. Then on that fate filled day I saw the Twin Towers coming down. Today I remember, and will always remember. I looked in the local newspaper here. Front page lower left hand corner 911 "see page 4 for local events" That was it.. I fear that people are begining to see this as just something else that happened a long time ago.( I hope not) Eck that is a wonderful poem
  15. First let me say I love this place. I installed a set of Baron Risers. They were a peice of cake to install. I did have a problem with the cables causing the throttle to hang when I turned the handlebars to the right. I disassembled the throttle housing 4 times to re-route the cables. Finally success!!! (I got good at disassembling the housing.) Next was the fairing bumpers--- Thanks Ruffy for the idea for the "mock handlebars". I did it pretty much the same way, but I had access to some aluminum 1" round stock, and a lathe and milling machine. I drilled out the round stock to except an allen bolt. I drilled and tapped the riser and attached the round stock and instlled the risers back on the bike. the round stock simulates the handlebars up againt the bumper. Pictures below.
  16. Give her the camera and tell her you want pictures of the trip. The camera will take her mind off the traffic. soon she will relax, and you'll have some good pictures:whistling:
  17. My wife (then girlfriend) spent several months living and working at the Mount Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods back in 1976 so I, of course, visited. It is one of the most beautiful spots we have seen. Took her 1968 VW Kharmann Ghia up that road---when it was gravel. Scary. Luckily it was a clear day and you could see for miles. We lived in NY then but she loved to tell me that it started snowing there in September and did not stop until May. BRRRR.
  18. That was interesting. I did them at medium speed.. Signs I got 18/20 Collisions I got 18/20 I tried one test of the signs at fast speed. Well we won't go there. I didn't even get to see some of the signs..
  19. Please forward our Condolences to his wife and family let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers. Rick and Peggy Ertz
  20. I was reading on the forums last night that the raffle tickets were going to be picked. I got up this morning and checked before work.....nothing. I could not check the forums at work and I just got home and went straight to the forums to see who won. You could have knocked me over with a feather. $500.00 wahoo. I forsee some accessories in my near future. Oh one thing....please don't tell Peggy....I may have some splaining to do. Just wished we could have also been at the rally. Congrats to Steve:thumbsup2: on winning the trailer and thanks to everyone who participated.
  21. James, Ouch! Peggy and I are keeping you in our thoughts hoping for a swift and full recovery!!
  22. What a great trip. The pictures are really good, thanks we'd like to see more! Peggy and I were in the early stages of planning a trip back in March of this year for a trip this summer. The plan was to ship the bike out to the Yellowstone National park area, fly out and pick up the bike and ride home. We were going to take 2 weeks to do it, but with furloughs on and off from work we figured it would be better to stay closer to home with just weekend trips. Well maybe next year:8:?
  23. Worth a thousand words! 1 thing----"My MP-3 player has a "radio mode" You might have a radio mode in your MP-3 player and selected to that mode instead of Music mode
  24. I left the original horn where it was mounted, and made a bracket to mount on the passenger floorboard mounting flange. It doesn't really stand out and almost looks like it belongs there, and doesn't get in the way of my passengers foot.. Hope this helps
  25. A couple of weeks ago I bought 2 collapsible fishin' poles. When broken down they fit into the saddlebags, and when assembled they are 5'6" ultra light tackle.. There is nothing more relaxing then riding the bike to a pond and sitting on the bank and throwing the bait in the water! "Even if ya don't catch anything":bawling:
