  1. I'd think along the lines of a mechanics lean on the bike, or small claims court. That's going to be your only recourse....unless you have a cousin Guido... You say the guy is a member of this board on your recommendation, and has never posted, so I don't think it's going to be of much benefit posting his name, but he has the option of responding if he feels like sharing his side of the story.... and he feels like coming out of the closet. It's unfortunate that this happened, but trust is earned not a right on this board or any other. Just because someone joins this board, doesn't make him or her automatically trustworthy. Just like in life, trust comes from familiarity.....
  2. If you don't have the speed, don't click on it. The link doesn't take up any volumn, and if it did it wouldn't be allowed due to upload restrictions of this board.....
  3. Their website with the free upgrades is nice too.....
  4. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWoo82zNUA]YouTube - Top Gear - Ariel Atom - BBC[/ame]
  5. I hear Dairy Queens hiring...... :rotf:
  6. Don't give up your day job..........:rotf::rotf:
  7. I wonder if there's a way to swap out the shifters if the 99 shifter has a larger spacing between the pedals??? I can see where the heel/toe is made to keep from marking up one's boots, but with the short span I can't help but hit something when using it.....
  8. I wonder why Redneck goes out of his way to make snide remarks about 1stGens and their owners??? Could it be a feeling of inadequacy?? I guess when you're a 2ndGen, you do have to try harder..... :rotfl:
  9. I think the only way, here in the US, is to keep track of the vin number for each year. Assuming the highest recorded VIN would be close to the last made for that particular year. I've been tracking sales on Ebay and quite a few of the Ventures are listed with VIN #'s. I could go back and find the highest VIN for each model year, if we decided to set up some sort of a registry???
  10. Thanks...at least I know it's me and not the set up.....I guess I'll have to start educating my heel :-) I've also noticed that the pedals don't extend past the edge of the boards front and back like I've seen other set ups. I end up having to sneak my big foot in under the front pedal. There ain't a whole lotta room. Maybe this set up isn't for me. I'll give it a few more weeks, and if I still can't get used to it, it's off to Ebay....
  11. Every once in a while a Venture item goes nuts in bidding. CLICK HERE
  12. I've got a question. Which pedal is up and which is down. I'm having a heck of a time getting used to the heel/toe on the '91 and wonder if that might be the case here. Right now heel is up and toe is down..... Seems like it should be the other way around???
  13. The only difference I can think of might be the spring tension?? I've taken good used 83-85 diaphragms and put them in 86-93's and visa versa without any bad experiences..... but I do try to keep the original springs. Maybe I've been screwing up??? But they run..... ?? Anyone actually know what the difference would be??? Now I'm really curious.....
  14. There's several videos on yourtube about HHO. It's a gas produced from water that has uses in welding, and as an alternative fuel for vehicles. The big problem is it takes more energy, in the form of electricity, to make then the power the gas produces. It's not efficient cost wise. It has more value as a welding gas then as an alternative fuel..
  15. What's with the link to the venturers.org. Somebody needs to write the author and explain a few things to him..... Where's Guido when you need him....
  16. I didn't know there was a difference in the diaphragms???
  17. We repaired a couple of diaphragms on HDHTR's '91 a couple of years ago with liquid tape and as far as I know they are still doing good. Buddy Rich did the application after washing the phram down with alcohol. That along with a carb sync and Steve was braggin' about his 48 mpg, and said he was afraid to touch it.....
  18. The AVON warantee is right up there around where you live George. Email Keith at kost@avonmotorcycleusa.com See what he says about thicknesses etc. And if it's only been a year you may have some pro-rated warantee coming??
  19. The problem you run into Mike is that the air bubbles continue to rise up into the lines, and gravity doesn't flow quick enough to force them out down at the slave. Same thing happens when you try to pump fluid thru using the lever. You have to go slowly or you'll end up with fluid splashing out of the reserve. Still not fast enough to carry the bubbles out below. Reverse bleeding is easy and you get ALL the air out of the system.
  20. Speed Bleeders work great for changing out the fluids, if there's no air in the lines, but if there is, it's an SOB to get it out bleeding normally. As GeorgeS pointed out the best way to get the air out is reverse bleed from the slave up.
  21. I have a pair of the darkest polorized perscription shades I could get and had them ground for distance. When I put them on my eyes go 'Ahhhhh!!' When I stop for any reason, or when riding at night, I put on my photo-sun bifocals. Nothing beats eye strain like polorized sunglasses.
  22. I did the same thing. Can't figure out what was going thru his mind, but good on ya anyway Orrin. Persistence does pay off. Get that puppy over here and let's sync'm.....
  23. All the canister does is suck gas fumes into it when the engine is turned off and allows the engine to pull those fumes back in when started. My feelings are that the canister doesn't make an engine run better or worse...when new, but over the years all those old extra hoses and connections create a potential place for intake air leaks to occur. The canisters are ancient carb technology. I'd remove it if the bike has one. IMHO....
  24. Here's one that'll warm ya up. 1/2 cup of boiling hot coffee, 1/4 cup of Baileys, 1/4 cup of Kahlua. You'll freeze, but not really give a hoot.........
