  1. I've bought 7 1stGen VR's, and I currently own six, I'm in all of them a total of $3100 bucks. Less than half of what just one 99RSV... in decent condition.... would bring on the used market.
  2. Meet ya in the middle Lowell............ Just say when..
  3. I'm with you on the pills Dan. I gotta be dieing before going to a pain killer..... However... Lately when I'm having trouble getting a full nights sleep I'll pop 800mg of Motrin, and about a half hour later a couple of asperin. That'll get me through a solid 8 hours. Neither the Motrin or the Asperin are narcotic, and that's a good thing....

My first bike was an Aerial Square Four. Bought it used when I was 17, so I guess I've been riding for more than 50 years. Owned Hondas, Beemers, and of course Ventures. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk06mU9muGE]YouTube- my 1957 ariel square four[/ame]
  5. I really like the 2ndGen styling, and they're a great bike. I also like the 1stGen for three reasons. Handling, fun factor, and.... they're all I can afford. Would I like to own a 2ndGen? You bet, if I had the extra bucks to buy one. Maybe some day before I ride off into the sunset, I'll be able to pick up a Two for what I now pay for a One. Until then.... I'm content....
  6. If you look at the feedback page for the guy, even though he's 100%, the star ratings are less than desired. Looks like he's a little lazy in every area....
  7. Everything I have is perfect...
  8. Post pics of the results.... I've never welded ABS but have been pretty successful using IPS 2354 for the hairline cracks http://www.rplastics.com/weldon2354.html and IPS Weld-On 16 for replacing broken pieces http://www.rplastics.com/weldon16.html. Works pretty good and easy to use. The 16 can be applied over fiber glass matt for those areas that get a lot of stress.... The stuff basically melts the ABS and chemically welds the pieces together.
  9. Stress will make the blood pressure go ballistic, and from what you've written you have a load on your back... Maybe a short daily ride will get your mind off things, and give you some peace of mind?? Even if it's just a short one....
  10. Came close to high siding it once, and got out of it quite a few more times when he broke it loose. Not a very good example of V-Max handling.....
  11. Dang Art.... what didjado go fishin' with a Snickers Bar... Ya got me by a few of years, but still have an eleven year old hanging around....
  12. Well.... That woke me up.... Good Mornin' Folks!!!!!!!
  13. Nope... they are real life scenerios. Best thing you can do to help out in your thinking is give the taller final a try and report back your results. I'd be interested in your findings.....
  14. WOW!!!!!! Great paint job...great theme.... And... that's about the only way I swing a leg over one of those Boss' Hogs. Can you imagine what it's like trying to hold that thing up when it get's a couple of degrees off center. Oooo Whee!!
  15. No Offence Buddy.... I'm runing out of gas all the time..... I've also found that a bean diet will reduce wind resistence.....
  16. No pics Bill.....
  17. Think of it this way Bob. 3000rpm climbing up a hill, and 3000rpm coasting down. Same RPM...vastly different MPG. Fuel consumption per stroke is not always equal. It depends on the resistence, or how hard the motor has to work to maintain a given RPM. A taller final will cause the engine to work harder the faster you go, due to wind resistence.
  18. Not in the heads and valve covers....
  19. I just picked up another set (2ea.) on Ebay for $22.50. With shipping it came to $27.45. So far all the suggestions here about where to get them are way over that....??? Unless you need them in a hurry I'd suggest waiting around for them to show up for auction on Ebay.
  20. I kinda question your thinking that lowering the rpm will give you better milage on your 1stGen??? At 70-75mph, 35mpg is in the normal range. My '83 gets 38. But.... if I slow down to 60-65 it will get up to 42-43mpg, but who wants to do that... . Slow way down and run the twisties... 2nd-3rd-and maybe forth gear on occasion, and the milage will jump up to 50mpg. And I'm not the only one here who has discovered this. Wind resistance is the big enemy of higher mpg's. Increase your resistence effect by lowering your r's at the top end and your mpg will decrease, not get better. You have to twist that throttle more to maintain the higher speeds, or basically you will be lugging the engine more. My 2 cents....
  21. I had that happen when I first rebuilt the master, and the problem was that I'd used silicon assembly lube instead of DOT 3. It softened the rubber compression cup to the point it stuck to the wall of the cylinder and wouldn't move. Tighter than a frog's a$$. Had to rebuild it again. Experience is expensive....
  22. When the lever is pulled up to the grip the expansion hole in the reserve is on the backside of the compression cup. There is no way air can get to it to pass into the reserve. The air bubbles probably would have excaped out of the lines over a 4 day period even if you hadn't bungied the lever. Over night the bubbles rose to the top of the line and were trapped there by the cup until the next day when you started riding the bike. Each day you removed a little more air. If you had turned the bars so the reserve at the highest point the air would have excaped out the hole a little bit at a time without the bungy. It just takes a long time to bleed the clutch. Reverse bleed them and go riding within a half hour with 100% clutch.
  23. Well there goes the price of 2ndGen gaskets on Ebay.... I do have a set of regular gaskets that I'll install in the spare '91 motor. A lot easier when the motor's not in the scoot..
  24. I donno Brad. Seems like a lot of work even for $75 bucks when there are a half dozen other finals for that price on Ebay right now. $100 + $31 over charge shipping, and expecting a bid is LaLa time.....
  25. Great info.... I just picked up a set of 2ndGen gaskets off Ebay by mistake and was going to send them to Eck. Guess that's not going to happen....
