  1. Here is what I have done to isolate my problem with no results. synced carbs eliminated A/F temporarily checked for fuel contamination in oil removed and inspected plugs, Installed Iridium's (#2 looked awfully white to me) caused a Ignition missfire to rule this out (It runs way too smooth to be Ignition missfire) Checked for a vacuum leak with my propane wand. No change in RPM's any where. Freebird and Gearhead both have great ideas but I am convinced it is not a lean condition due to the smell of very rich exhaust when I stay in the throttle and I have no lean missfire what so ever. I am Leaning more towards a weak coil not delivering a hot enough spark under a heavy demand but not so weak as to cause a missfire. I should have a new Fuel filter by Friday so I'll replace it just for GP. This really sucks as I leave on the 22nd for a 9 day 3000 mile trip. I hope if I don't have her fixed that she makes it.
  2. Been there done that
  3. I have an 07 RSV with 4500 miles on it I have not gotten in to the carbs because I don't want to risk voiding my warranty. I have fattened the PMS 1/4- 1/2 each and synced carb's. She pulls good off the line but if you are at about 1/8-1/3 throttle and you stab it in any gear above 2nd it will not accl. it does not fall on its face just not accl. No lean popping at all if you stay in it you start to smell very rich exhaust. so I know its either getting too much fuel (my theory) or in efficient combustion. My dealer can not find the problem. tells me that's now a XVZ13 runs BS!!! I have had this bike since 0.4 miles and now my top speed on a flat is 85-90 MPH up a pass 70 MPH. I have had the speedo buried before. Changing fuel makes no difference. tonight I am going to try some seafoam but don't have much hope it that as a cure. Any suggestions on a good tech/dealer in Seattle area. I am more than able to find and fix this issue. but you see I turn wrenches all day long, 5 days a week. I bought a Bike with a 5 year warranty. I did not buy a HD for a reason. My dealer reset carbs and said #2 pilot was plugged and #1 almost plugged (why did not that effect the idle and how does that effect top end throttle) I guess I need to go get re trained in carbs 101. The dealer by the way is RMC Motorsports. But the saga continues my dealer tells me that Yamaha will not cover carb issues and charges me $345.00 to tell me that my pilots are plugged and that that is how they run. Needless to say I will be contacting Yamaha customer service. I have stepped down from the soap box now thank you all for coming to hear me
  4. I went with the Dunlop 404 WWW I could not find any one with A front Avon www in stock. the whine is gone and the bike handles much better that the when I had the stock Brickstones on it.
  5. I am looking for the best price on the venom wide white wall tires for both ends. where did you find yours, Who has the best price?
  6. My 07 RSV has got a nasty bad whine, around 40 -50 mph its the worst. the farther you lean the worse it gets and if you pull in the clutch you can feel a slight vibration in the floorboards too. I have got 3800 miles on it now. I'm not sure it is gear noise due to the fact that the noise does not change on coast or acceleration. the noise only gets louder when leaning. This makes me think it has more to do with the axle bearings. I will be taking it in later this week. Do any of these symptoms match what any of you that have had final drive issues? Ken C.
  7. I have some great pics of my ride today up to Chinook Pass. However the size is to large for the site. so how can I share them in the Venturerider photobucket album. I already have an account on photobucket. Did the wind from my ride today blow what little brains I have left right out the back of my helmet?
  8. after weighing all the replies. I have decided to use a good master lock on the steering lock. If someone wants my bike that bad, no lock is going to stop them. That's why I pay that extra 30 bucks a year to progressive. it covers full replacement for the first three years
  9. springfield XD here.
  10. It's 7MM I mic.ed it yesterday. I think Xena disc lock may work I will go down to the local distributor tomorrow and see if they have the 6MM pin model
  11. I want to get a disc lock. What brand and model are you using?
  12. So thoes of you that have a leather flap. Where did you gt it? do you have pic's? (for second gen.) I can't seem to find any that I think would fit our wide fenders and look good.
  13. Well it does stop some of the wind noise!:rotf:
  14. I always wear mine when I'm not wearing the full face helmet. I have a pair of fitted silicone ear plugs. I love them, you can get a pair made to fit you ear at most cycle trade shows, also places like Sturgis, Daytona... Before I started wearing ear plugs the wind noise was causing severe ringing. then it progressed to causing dizzy spells. Not good when you are riding. All of that stopped after wearing ear plugs.
  15. Thats the shame... the hot little red head that lives around the corner from me drove right past me as I was walking it back up.
  16. Well I found out this afternoon on my way home from work just how easy it is to pick up this tank of a bike. I was 1 1/2 blocks from home when i was at the last stop before pulling in to the drive. I started the left turn and noticed something in the road. I was still in the friction zone but needed to cut harder to the left to miss it. Well I did not have enough throttle and she died and just laid right over. I backed up in to her, just like on Ride like a pro and picked her right up. I hated tipping over but I'm glad I know how easy it is to get back up.
  17. Have any of you installed these in the rear? I got these for the front, Now I am wondering if they will fit in the rear without modification. Have you up-graded the rears? what did you use for a speaker? Did you have to modify?
  18. I was calling them Barrons but I ment to say Baker. I guess it's that CRS creeping up on me.
  19. Go to your local NAPA store I believe it is in their PSA cataolg. I have got it before to use on a job in our repair shop.
  20. What makes the yammies better than barrons?
  21. The crash bar mounted deflectors.
  22. I'm going to install the deflectors on my 07 RSV but am not sure which one's I need the pro's and con's of both please.
  23. Eck I live in the Seattle area and commute to work on the scoot. I wish I would have seen this post a coupple days ago. I am very interested in this product! Ken C.
  24. the Road King or Ultra
  25. Dray you will need to use 4 tubes at least 3/4 inch I.D. to hold the light weight oil. (I used ATF) the result I a meeter 16X more sensitive than a mercury gauge. This makes the adjusting tricky due to the sensitivity. but It will work well. I'll take a photo of the one I made and post it tomorrow Ken C.
