Since the current company appears to not give a crap about its people I would take the old retail job back while looking for a new company to work for then, when you find a better position give them the same notice you got, 2 seconds.

I found a little hole in the wall place about 4 years ago in Pottawatomie county Oklahoma at 9A and I-40, east of Oklahoma City. Appeared to have been a truck stop and diner at one time. A gentleman named Dan from one of the local tribes rented the restaurant section and he made, by far, the "Best Chicken Fried Steak", mashed potatoes, and country gravy I have ever had. It may be hard to believe but this place even beat Clanton's in Vinita OK for their CFS. Don't know if it is still there but my next ride into OK I'm planning to find out.

WOW, Sorry to hear about the accident and hope your recovery goes well. Sorry about the loss of your 99-RSV as well. Same model as I have and love. Hope you find the ride you want soon.

I am going to try to make this. Just booked on line at the Quality Inn site and if you book now you can get a room for $89 p-night / $71.99 if you pay in advance with no refund. A little better deal than the hotel give you by calling. Might bring a tint myself as I don't know if I can make it for sure. FYI, I booked a room with 2 queen beds so if I make it there will be another bed if someone needs it since my wife doesn't like to ride...if I cannot make it someone can take my reservation and will let everyone know at least 2 weeks in advance if I'm making it.

Don, Hopefully it was nothing more than a little anxiety attack from not being able to ride. Winter does that to bikers. Hope you get to feeling much better soon, and stay off the tractor for a few days. To dang cold up your way. Ed

The battery can just go bad overnight and continue to loose the power to start the bike just because. Depends on how old it is. I had to replace mine 2 year ago for the same reason and had to push start it on one of my rides. I now keep it on the tender when not riding regularly. If it keeps loosing cranking power replace it. Hope this helps

Think you came out ahead, at least you got a new warm blanket out of the deal, all she got was a damaged SUV and higher insurance premiums. D**M Texters!

I switch to 20W-50 before my coast-to-coast ride last year and it made a big difference with how my 99 RSV ran across the hot regions of Nevada and the salt flats area of Utah. Less noise, seemed to even run cooler. Got some of my 20W-50 M/C oil from Wally-Mart and tried it. Found no difference in how the bike performed over the next 4000 miles and it only cost $2.65 p/QT. I-B-CHEAP...sometimes.

Weird? As a new guy to this group it seems a bit off base to me for someone to be so critical, even petty, simply because of your choice of ride and/or opinion, especially considering all the work I have learned you do to keep the VR web site running smoothly, holding maintenance days at your home, plus having to keep everyone on line, in line. I joined this "org" because there are non of the "you have to ride a...." to be a member which made my decision much easier. Thanks for all you do. Ride Safe!

Nothing better than a ride...anywhere...specially where there are lots of trees, clean air, no plans and with a friend. -
Ho-Lee-Crap! Hope everything is better now. Guess I'll have to keep an ear open for the wife who seems to have the same thing going on. Get Better!

The story behind my handle "Zzyzx" To make a short story as long as I can I need to begin this tail back in the late 60's, back when my buddy's and I took trips into the Mojave desert, mostly between Victorville CA and the Nevada border to do off road exploring of old mining camps, buildings, and other cool old stuff. Sometimes on bikes, other times is a cage, but always a fun run. About 10 miles west of Baker California was a partially paved road off SR-15, now I-15, that headed out into the desert. Back then the exit sign mostly read *☼y*x☼ because all of the "Z"'s had either been shot at or picked off. We never gave it much thought, we just called it the Z road. If you've ever taken a road trip between LA and Vegas you know the exit. We would sometimes take the off ramp to check out the oasis and maybe see what we could find at the end of the road. I never got all the way to the end but got close to it once, I think. Jump to the 80'S. I had relocated to Las Vegas for work in early 82. My future wife still lived in So-Cal. For a number of years we traveled back and forth between our places to see each other. When I would travel back to So-Cal, and since we liked to dance, on Sunday nights would often close our favorite country bar in Anaheim. I would take my now wife back to her home then, head out on a 4+ hour drive back to Vegas, (always sober by the way). Along the way I often needed to pull over for a little nap. The town of Baker was a bit past the half way point but was always too busy. There was a rest stop 20 some miles past Baker but I choose to pull off at what I then knew as Zzyzx Rd, mainly because nobody else ever did after dark. It was totally dark and very quiet so when I awoke from a quick 20 I always felt well rested and alert. I never gave it much thought back then but I always felt safe there, maybe because of it being off the beaten path. I would think back from time to time about how I enjoyed exploring the area and when we traveled that route would always try to swing off and just take in the desert. I have never made to the end of that road. Maybe someday I'll go back and accomplish that as part of my bucket list. Anyway, when I was thinking about a handle one of the names that came to mind was Zzyzx. I knew no one else would ever use the name. There has always been a bit of mystique surrounding it, some of the stories are true, a lot of them bull****, besides, being it is "The Last Place on Earth" it somehow made since to me. Zzyzx is more of a state of mind than a place and because actually reaching the end of that crappy road is on my bucket list it may well be the last place I ever ride and hopefully that doesn't happen for at least another 30 years, if I'm lucky. You asked! That's my version. The truth about Zzyzx: Known history. Initially known as “Soda Springs”, this was a popular stop for Indians, Spanish explorers, an Army outpost, miners, and the railroad. In 1944, LA radio evangelist Curtis H. Springer decided to make the mineral springs a health resort. As a gimmick to be the last listing in any directory, he and is wife ended up naming it the “Zzyzx Mineral Springs and Health Resort” as it’s “the last word in health” and the last word in the English language. The government realized on day he had no claim to the land and in 1974 evicted everyone. The BLM took it over and opened a desert research center where the spa used to be. The last place on Earth, as told by others It was originally founded by a crazy old man, much like myself, who named it ZZYZX since it would be the last word in the dictionary, and hence "the last place on Earth". Currently an abandoned town located in the desert Between Las Vegas and LA. One person wrote about it on a blog; Why the hell would anyone exit at Zzyzx for? There's nothing out here but miles and miles, of miles and miles! I think that's the point actually.

Our tradition is doing an early Mexican style brunch, even when we travel to the kids down south. We usually have pork, beef, and Jalapeño cheese tamales, chili verde stew, homemade refried beans, eggs, homemade salsa, fresh tortillas and lots Bailey's and coffee, hot chocolate plus whatever anyone else brings. Later we set down for a traditional dinner with turkey, ham and all the other stuff we had leftover from thanksgiving...just kidding about the leftovers. Merry Christmas To All

I have not heard of this before but I would think the nut treads may be stripped. If I remember correctly the nut is integral to the frame mount so you might want to start by spraying some lube under the bolt head and upper washer first. Let it set for a few so it can work its way down then as you are turning the bolt pull upward on the tank to see if the nut catches. Attached is a picture of the tank mount assembly for reference. Hope this helps.
