1. It sure does appear that PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome), is pretty bad this year, given some of the posts that needed to be deleted or locked. Surely, there is something interesting and fun that we can talk about. On another forum that I occasionally go to, and it is not motorcycle related, it has come down to about the only thing that is discussed is the G & P words. I come here for fun, entertainment and to learn things and occasionally be able to help others. There are some really great people on this forum and I really do appreciate having this site available. If you feel you must discuss or argue about those topics, I guarantee you that there are MANY forums out there that would absolutely welcome you aboard. RandyA
2. Well the pinheads have gone and done it now. In their infinite wisdom they officially started my PMS for the season. We had a trace of snow over night, not even a measurable amount, (to be considered measurable it must be at least 0.1 inches) and the salt trucks were out in force. The roads have salt everywhere. Dry salt on dry asphalt is almost as slick as the ice it was intended to melt. So for me PMS has officially started until we get a couple of good heavy rains to wash the salt off the roads. Maybe I'll actually get some of the things on my todo list done this winter........... I'd rather still be riding......... . . Is it spring yet? . . Now is it? . . How much longer???? From this point forward I can take no responsibility for my actions. I am not in a correct state of mind. WHY did they do it?
3. I've sent PMs to all that has placed an order. Please read the PM and reply back with answers to the questions. There will be a couple corresponding PM needed so please monitor your PMs. There are just a few members that have not replyed. This is holding up the Group Buy Order. Thanks Everyone
4. Check your pm's...............
5. I wanted to save some of my PMs to folders for later reference. I started with the IN box and created the files I wanted and moved the messages. Cool....no problem. I went back to my SENT box and found I was not able to move the messages from there. I assumed that the folders would be shared but I guess not. I can not find a way to create folders for my SENT PMs or move them. There is no "Move to Folder" selection buttom in the lower right hand corner on the SENT window. What am I missing here? Mike
6. I finally got enough stuff done on the bike to take it out for the first of many required doses of the treatment for PMS. There is no cure. Not a monster ride but a good shakedown of about 80 miles with a lot of it around town. About a third of it was on local streets and the rest on local highways. The wind was brutal, I have never ridden in that much wind and at one point going over a high bridge, with a 40mph cross wind, over the harbor, I had to slow down to about 40mph just to stay on the bike. There were a couple of times that a gust hit me hard enough that I had to make an effort to not get blown off the side of the bike. The bike itself seemed to handle the cross wind just fine, it was me that didn't. Of course the bike ran crappy since the tank is/was full of gas bought in October of last year, and of course it was crap reformulated gas to boot. It was well dosed with SeaFoam before it went to sleep for the winter. In a couple of more days of commuting to work, I should have the tank empty and be able to give her a nice drink of fresh gas. It is going to take a lot more work to get my left arm back into riding shape after the injuries from last month. I still can not hold in the clutch for a whole red light but a month ago I could not pull in the clutch at all. And yes being the stubborn one that I am, I have been avoiding seeing a Dr about it. I am hoping that in another week I can start pulling the trailer around some to get used to it being back there before I make the epic (for me) trek to Ohio in June. I have started to pay attention to my location in the lane and pretending that I am pulling the trailer. But the bottom line is that my PMS is doing a lot better now.
7. Nina & I hooked up with Chris (Panjandrum) and a few of his "Coast Riders" group today and got out for a great day of PMS therapy. Weather was partly sunny but still a fair amount of cloud and high around 8 celcius by mid afternoon although when we headed out around 10AM, I don't think it was over 4 degrees. Chris took us over a number of "back country" routes we'd not been on before so it was nice to see some different scenery. Stopped for lunch in Cultus Lake and then headed to Birchwood Dairy for ice cream. From there we split up and Nina & I and another couple headed home while Chris and the others continued on to places unknown...like maybe Whiterock??? Anyhoo, aside from it being a bit chilly and the few drops of rain we encountered, I'm happy to report that the PMS has dramatically subsided....for now! Was the first ride with the Khromewerks mufflers on. Yep, they are definately louder than the drilled out RK's ... but I like the tone of them better...so does Nina. One thing for sure is I don't think I'll be leaving them on when we do any longer rides as I think the constant "drone" and loudness when pulling hills, etc might be cause for a bit of a headache ... definately not good when riding with a hangover LOL! A few pics ...
8. The PMS is killin me so.... Forecast today is for SUNSHINE and high of 7 celcius (that's 44 f .... wasn't that nice of me to do the conversion for ya?) We're goin for a RIDE!!!
9. I've been trying to get in contact with ronhenry4, a member who has several items listed in our classy's that I'm interested in. I've sent several email and PM's over the last week or so, and so far nothing.... Anyone know if he's OK??
10. I've been trying to talk with another member via PM's, and the past couple of day's PM's have disappeared - getting frustrated wasting time typing messages and having them disappear. Doug Nordin
11. Friend of mine Bob (Mariner Fan) talked to me about taking my seat with him so Rick can do his magic on my seat. I e-mailed and sent PM's to Rick. Rick wanted to do a very limited # of seats so he and his wife could take time and enjoy MD. I completely missed some important info. in one of his pm's until I re-read it a few days later. I responded back to him and Rick agreed anyway to do my seat. Just wanting to let Rick know I really appreciate him taking extra time out from MD to also do my seat. I got my seat from Bob on Saturday and got in a 45-60 minute ride. So far so good. It will get a really good test ride when I head to Chattanooga TN in about 3 weeks.
12. Check yer PM's Bro........... Boomer.....
13. just noticed don has registered. it is an official meet now , and we will all have to be good. just a reminder, when you all register if you don't see your name on the list don't worry it won't appear till cindy updates it. lots of activity starting up now. i'm getting alot of pm's and lots of people donating prizes for the drawing. get your riding gear ready. it's going to be a good one. see you all there.:clap2: snarley bill
14. Please tell me something. No, not that. How do you delete pms? I know I'm overlooking something, still tired from MD trip, but I can't figure out how to do this. Thanks.
15. The clutch on my 88 has got the high rpm slips. New clutch plates or a conversion are outside the realm of the current budget. Does anyone out there have a clutch spring from their 86 and up ( Royal Stars too if I understand it ) that they don't have a need for? Maybe you already did a Barnett conversion on your bike. I'd happily pay a few bucks for it. Thanks to whoever PM's me, or even just reads this.
16. Yep...that old PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) got BLASTED out of me today! Temps rose to a "balmy" 7 degrees celcius with clear, sunny skies...I couldn't hold off any longer...went and got a day permit for the scoot and out we went. Rode about 250 miles round trip over 4.5 hrs with stops here and there. We were well bundled up but still got a bit chilled at times but it was all worth it. And...this was the first time out with my (new to me) Road King mufflers...AH MAN do those things sound sweet! .... AND .... waddya know... I barely noticed the dreaded WHINE ... yeeeee haaaaawwwww! :thumbsup2:
17. Not That one but " Parked Motorcycle Syndrome " or "Post Motorcycling Syndrome" didn't ride for week and already feel a craving..damn Today went to local Battery Shop and bought new Battery for Venture. installed and start bike, fired up right away. Let her warm up and enjoying V4 pouring. Rev a throttle couple times. Fill much better, and my PMS is gone
18. I want to take a few minutes here and talk with everyone. This isn't something that needs an acknowledgement, but is something that needs to be said. The Moderators and myself pride ourselves on not having to do much "Censoring" of posts. For the most part all of you members here are VERY good at policing the site and yourselves. I know I speak for all of us when I tell you that we do appreciate that. There are times when some posts go south, for whatever reason. I'm asking from everyone of our members that we remember why we are here at this website. This is a motorcycle forum, and we do a good job of keeping it PG rated and not getting political. Please believe me when I say that I too have a hard time not commenting on some subjects. We all have our beliefs, and we are truly an international club, with many different beliefs and values. Now some of us are in the PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrome) portion of our ride season. We will be spending a lot more time on the site as there really isn't a lot that we do in the winter. There are going to be disagreements, we have MANY colorful personalities here, but I ask that we all keep it civil and not attack folks for their beliefs. If you come onto the site, and your angry or upset from a hard day at work. I ask that you dont post to a thread that may upset you. I do this many times myself as if I believe that I'm writing something that will lash out or further escalate a thread, I simply leave the site and come back when I'm calmed down...that sometimes takes a day for me This is an exceptional place, there isn't another forum quite like what we have here. I truly enjoy us being a family here, and appreciate the diversity that we have. So please, the PMS season is early and we certainly dont want folks not coming here because it's uncomfortable. If you need to vent on a subject, there are hundreds of other websites to go to that would be more suitable for it. From myself and all the moderators, thank you for being here. Our job is easy compared to some of the sites I have gone to....let us all be safe this PMS season
