  1. Here are some pictures of my new toy. She is an 86 Venture Royale, pretty well fully loaded, and low miles. I come from a background of touring on my 97 Kawasaki Concours. So, I am really looking forward to a bigger, fancier, touring bike. Should be shipped out on Friday, and arrive here in about 2 weeks. I am sure I will have many questions for the more experienced people here. http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr290/kevinkyzar/86%20Yamaha%20Venture/86Venture.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr290/kevinkyzar/86%20Yamaha%20Venture/86Venture2.jpg Hopefully, will not need to much "tech" help. Just clean it up, and go riding!
  2. Somebody's new toy at Mamamo's workplace. I would like to try it out. Mini and Mamamo would look good in this.
  3. more picture surface, of the toy run. here are a few more.
  4. New toy form Germany. Hope that the link works. First time in posting a link. Ride safe http://webmail.aol.com/40627/aol/en-us/Mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.22780664&folder=NewMail&partId=6&saveAs=GermanTechnology.wmv
  5. OK VentureRiders in North Texas, the Big Texas Toy Run in Tarrant and Dallas counties is coming up Sunday, 12/21/08. We usually have between 60,000 and 80,000 bikes on this one: http://www.thebigtexastoyrun.com/printaflyer.html There are departure points in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Grapevine. Anyone want to meet me in Grapevine to form up together? Goose
  6. This saturday we went to Fayetteville NC to visit Jeff's Aunt and Grandmother. They were staying down there with his cousin Dean. He's in the army. We had a great time and got to meet Dean's new girlfriend, and his new dog. We also got to see his new toy. After his last return from Iraq he went out and got himself a bike. He bought a Harley. We told him we loved him anyway. Anyway I took a couple of pics of his new toy. So if your down in the area and you see a guy on this bike you'll know who he is. He has to go back to Iraq in June. I'm hoping to get him and his girlfriend to come to our annual year end/beginning meet on Jan 3rd. Here's the pics of his bike. Plus I threw in a pic of Jeff, Trisha, Dean and the dog (Shannon) and a pic of Jeff with his grandmother.
  7. I may be purchasing a bike that has sat for 3 years. I am sure I should do something before trying to crank it. I was thinking of poping out the plugs and spraying some type of oil in the cylinders. And of course cleaning out the carbs and all the normal crap. but I am worried about the rings after sitting so long.. BTW, its not a venture, I will be keeping my venture, this is just a toy! Thanks
  8. we got our 1st new toy in today , and i got to brag a little bit , its pretty kewl , alumn. frame and fiber glass , goin to load the bikes up this week end and take it for a test drive , when we brought it down form OH. the driver had no dif. in gas mileage going up with no trailer and pulling it back .
  9. I know lots of us have young children in our lives, be they our children, nieces or nephews, grandchildren. So I've been looking around at alternative places to get toys. I found this really interesting site. The toys are all American made. Lots of old stuff too that I'm sure plenty will remember. Here's the link. http://www.fatbraintoys.com/index.cfm After watching the news today with the latest recall on toys that can kill kids or put them in a coma, I was really upset. Christmas is on it's way and what do you get for the children in your life. Luckily some of the old board games are still available as well out there. Hope this helps anyone looking for a safe toy for that child in your life (no matter how old they may be) Margaret
  10. After reading the recent post concerning all the toy recalls I guess it just makes me mad that all this stuff is coming to light all of a sudden. I mean, how long has this went on and we're just now finding out there's a problem? Doesn't that seem kind of odd? Is there no regulations saying that we need to be checking these things when they come into our country? As someone pointed out we can't directly control what is made overseas, but we certainly can do spot checks once it gets onto our soil. I also take some of the responsibility because I never once questioned the safety of paint and such in the chinese made toys I know I have bought for my kids and now my grand kids over the years. Last year I did buy my one grandkids a set of Lincoln Logs. He still builds things with them. He's found out you don't have to have a battery powered toy in order to have fun. As a grandpa I think I'll just determine in my own heart to go back to simpler toys for the kids this year and in the coming years. It's time I become responsible for my own actions and not get pulled into the advertising hype that tells us the only good gifts are the electrical ones that come from wherever. Everyone ride safe and God bless you all.
  11. For anyone who may be interested, Next Sunday November 4 is the CHOP toy run. It is one of the greatest events of the year. For the last few years, it has drawn in excess of 100,000 bikes and provides enough toys to supply the hospital and local childrens charities for the entire year. The meet point is on Columbus Blvd by Penn's Landing right off RT 95. the gathering starts at about 9:00 am and the parade kicks off at 12:00 noon and proceeds through the city with all roads being blocked off for the event and ends at the hospital where you drop off your toy and are greeted by hundreds of smiling children who don't often have much to cheer them up. Come one come all, then go home and give your kids a big hug and be glad you have your problems and not theirs. I hope you'll excuse me now as I get off my soap box, but this event is very close to my heart as I have first hand experience with the care provided at this facility to some of the sickest children in the world.
  12. for my birthday, i bought a new toy. i haven't seen one on the market in 30+ years. do any of you remember ".05 spinning tops"? you know , the wooden one, that you wrap the string around, and toss! dang near beat my brains out, trying to re-learn what seemed to come so easy , when i was a kid. lol just jt
  13. Nance and I made it home about 8:00 p.m. tonight with our new bike. First we would both like to thank Squidley & Lonna for going over to see the new toy. Second, we would like to thank Tim(Toyman) & Karen for having a pristine first gen and their hospitality. Nance still has not had a ride on it because she had to drive the car home, but we are going to fix that tomorrow. We are looking forward to riding with all of you again, and we both want to thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers after my crash. Here's the pics.
  14. Some guy won it from Ohio and then deciced to ask if it was a Royal after the auction was over . When it was clearly listed as a standard. Then he decided he couldnt come and get it . What an A## &^*% . Need to get this thing out of here. Here's the new toy that is going in its place. Bring on the Mustang toys. Sorry for the first picture I cant get rid of it.
  15. I put the 83 on ebay , so much for the Winter project. Need the room for a new toy. Pictures to come soon. No its not an HD yet this one has four wheels.
