Does anyone use super tech gear oil 85W-90, or can it be use might be a better question. Thanks
  2. Well here goes,This is my first attempt at this. I,ve got a 99RSV 27,000 miles my c/c will come on and give you all three lights but after that the on light stays on but will not even attempt to come on or set. Is there another fuse or could one of my brake or clutch or rear brake switch be bad how could i check it? Any help or info would be super appreciated Thanks
  3. Since spring is just around the corner I just wanted to remind 1stGen'rs, and let new members know, that I still have 1stGen performance fork braces available. The ad is buried in the classifieds, and here's the LINK. Super Brace gets $143.00 + shipping for theirs. Ours are $60/$70C. If that don't motivate ya nothing will..... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/data/6/large/classified11.jpg

  5. Dear Miami : Get ready for the Who Dat Nation coming for the Super Bowl By Mark Lorando, The Times-Picayune February 01, 2010, 2:06PM http://f303.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f35231%5fAEJFv9EAABONS2sBRwmx1GnWcBk&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1Scott Threlkeld / The Times-Picayune Saints fans celebrate the overtime win for the NFC Championship on Jan. 24 -- and the chance to go to Miami . Dear Miami , The Saints are coming. And so are we, their loyal, long-suffering and slightly discombobulated Super Bowl-bound fans. While there's still time to prepare -- although a few hard-core Who Dats will begin trickling in Monday, most of us won't arrive until Thursday or Friday -- we thought we'd give you a heads-up about what you should expect. First things first: You need more beer. Yeah, we know. You ordered extra. You think you have more than any group of humans could possibly consume in one week.. Trust us. You don't. New Orleans was a drinking town long before the Saints drove us to drink. But it turns out beer tastes better when you're winning. (Who knew?) So let's just say we're thirsty for more than a championship; adjust your stockpiles accordingly. And look. When we ask you for a go-cup, be nice to us. We don't even know what "open container law" means. Is that anything like "last call"? It's Carnival season in New Orleans (that's Mardi Gras to you), and we'll be taking the celebration on the road. So don't be startled if you walk past us and we throw stuff at you; that's just our way of saying hello. Oh, and sorry in advance about those beads we leave dangling from your palm trees. We just can't help ourselves. http://f303.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f35231%5fAEJFv9EAABONS2sBRwmx1GnWcBk&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1Times-Picayune archive February is also crawfish season, and you can be sure that more than one enterprising tailgater will figure out a way to transport a couple sacks of live mudbugs and a boiling pot to Miami. When the dude in the 'Who Dat' T-shirt asks if you want to suck da head and pinch da tail, resist the urge to punch him. He's not propositioning you. He's inviting you to dinner. And if you see a big Cajun guy who looks exactly like an old Saints quarterback walking around town in a dress ... don't ask. It's a long story. We know that crowd control is a major concern for any Super Bowl host city. Our advice? Put away the riot gear. Reason No. 1: Indianapolis is going to lose, and their fans are way too dull to start a riot. Reason No. 2: New Orleans showed the world on Sunday that we know how to throw a victory party. We don't burn cars. We dance on them. Reason No. 3: Even if we did lose, which we won't, leaving the stadium would be like leaving a funeral, and our typical response to that is to have a parade. Speaking of which: If you happen to see a brass band roll by, followed by a line of folks waving their handkerchiefs, you're not supposed to just stand there and watch. As our own Irma Thomas would say, get your backfield in motion. And hey, Mister DJ! Yes, we know you've already played that stupid Ying Yang Twins song 10 times tonight, but indulge us just one more time. To us, "[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZALurbuc5Hw]YouTube- Halftime (stand up and get crunk) Saints Edition[/ame])" isn't just a song; it's 576 points of good memories. It's the sound of a Drew Brees touchdown pass to Devery Henderson, a Pierre Thomas dive for first down on 4th-and-1, a Garrett Hartley field goal sailing through the uprights in overtime. It's what a championship sounds like. You may get sick of hearing it. We won't. Encore, dammit. Inside Sun Life Stadium, you may find your ears ringing more than usual. We're louder than other fans. Seven thousand of ours sound like 70,000 of theirs. Don't believe us? Ask the 12th man in the Vikings huddle. Some people think it's just the Dome that heightens our volume. But you're about to discover a little secret: We can scream loud enough to make your head explode, indoors or out. It's not the roof. It's the heart. Well, OK, and the beer. http://f303.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f35231%5fAEJFv9EAABONS2sBRwmx1GnWcBk&pid=4&fid=Inbox&inline=1Susan Poag / The Times-Picayune Don't be surprised if there are more Saints fans outside the stadium than inside. A lot of us are coming just to say we were part of history, even if we can't witness it up close. The Saints are family to us, and you know how it is with family: We want to be there for them, whether they really need us or not. Because we know our presence will mean something to them, whether they can see us or not. Come to think of it, seeing as how you're taking us in for the week, we pretty much regard you as family, too. So we're warning you now: If you're within hugging distance, you're fair game. Hugging strangers is a proud Who Dat tradition, right up there with crying when we win. Most sports fans cry when their teams lose. Not us. We've been losing gracefully and with good humor for 43 years. Tragedy and disappointment don't faze us. It's success that makes us go to pieces. Hurricane Katrina? We got that under control. The Saints in the Super Bowl? SOMEBODY CALL A PARAMEDIC!!! So anyway, don't let the tears of joy freak you out. We're just ... disoriented. OK. Let's review: Order more beer. Throw me something, mister. Suck da heads. Wear da dress. Stand up. Get crunk. Hug it out. Protect your eardrums. Pass the Kleenex. Hoist the trophy. See you at the victory party. Faithfully yours, The Who Dat Nation
  6. Well I got the word, and Im laid off. Company says their gonna try again in the spring but then they never asked the supervisors for our phones and credit cards before. Rumers are that there closing the doors for good and lots of things are looking like that could be true. So wife and I are putting up the HOUSE For SALE sign and were looking south for work. Looking around Tenn, N or S carolina and W.V. I am a excavating supervisor and also have a Michigan builder's liacense that I plan to switch over to which ever state we move too. Wife still working at a local t.v. station and thank goodness we still have insurance but things look rough there too. I dont expect to start with a new company as a super or even close and willing to take anything decent. Anyone have any leads that may help , they sure would be appreciated. Asking for prayers too, to be honest im scared silly, been in this house for 22 years and raised our family here. I just cant imagine leaving it and moving away but ive been trying to get myself comfortable with the idea for the past few months. Thank you in advance
  7. Good Morning Everyone, I would like to replace my stock passing light bulbs with a brighter halogen lamp. However i'm not interested in increasing the amount of wattage draw on the system. My question is, what lamp would you recommend for this application? I would like a nice wide pattern not a narrow beam. I was told the Silver Star would work, but I dont know which one to look for. I like the super bright white look compared to the yellow tungsten. Forgot to mention i have the sealed beam type ! Thank you in advance for your suggestions! Please ride safe Frank
  8. I guess after 11 years, what ever friction material holding the mirrors on my RSTC is starting to give up. I constantly have to readjust them. Short of super glue or duct tape has anyone come up with a way to tighten up the swivel joint between the back of the mirror and the mounting arm?
  9. Now I know there is a whole section on connecting up a Tach but bear with me. I purchased a Sun Super Tach II (2 1/8 diameter for $15.00) and want to use it on my 2006 RSV. Now my question is this, I believe the Tach as it is will not work correctly on the bike as it will only read from the 1 coil it is connected to there by when it says 1,000 RPM the motor is really doing 4,000 RPM. What I need to know is the RSV considered a single fire setup because of the 4 individual coils? Now I found this info on building an adapter for mutli coil setup (picture attached). I priced out the diodes and they are around .02 cents each (in a lot of 100) and the resistors I figure can't be much more and a small box to put them in less then $5.00. My question here is will this work on the bike as a single fire adapter if there are 4 setups made and each connected as shown in the picture to the coils with the Tach set to the 4 cylinders setting. I have water proofed the Tach to the point of it floats but would be better off saying it's more water resistant not water proof. When I get this done I'll upload a PDF on how I made the Tach water resistant (a few O rings), fixed the mounting, and got it all to work.
  10. I am planning a trip out to Sturgis this Aug. I have found some hotels that I am looking at staying at on the way out and back. If any of you can help me out on the areas and if they are good to stay at that would help me out a lot. 11. Hello Friends I came off a 2008 C50T where I used an AutoCom for commo between the pillon, myself, and other bikes. Has anyone on this forum connected to either the RSV intercom cord or directly to the radio. Help if you can. The Super Pro AVi cost $700, and is FM I hate to go back to CB technology unless I have too With Respect, Wyoming Tom
  12. Really bad super cell thunderstorms moved through the northern part of Ga. last nite, no confirmed tornados reported as yet, have some wind damage in some areas, plenty of pea sized to baseball sized hail everywhere, but we dodged the bullet, got pretty nasty here with wind, lightning, small hail, but we are good, will see how the rest of town faired on my way to work.......hope everyone else made it through ok. Some areas got hammered real good with very large hail, bet the insurance adjusters are going to be super busy for a while.
  13. Well, its that time of year again. Super bowl time. Every year, I spend the first 17 hours of it vomiting compulsively, since the wife really loves it, and trying to change the channel is worth loosing a hand over. After the compulsive vomiting subsides, I try and find other things to do. Computer games, surf the forums, solitaire, watching paint dry etc. This year the paint didn't hold my attention nearly long enough, so I am going to gripe about it here. So, now you all know the truth about me. I really hate football. From peewee to pro, I can't stand it.
  14. Hey Folks, It seems that I am the butt (yeah go ahead and laugh) of an unusual prank. I went to change my info in my user CP to reflect my new bike in it and lo and behold, a gremlin popped up. It seems that when I went to do the change, I became a Super Moderator. Now I dont know how to react to this, I have no special powers, nor a whole lot of smarts. But I will say that being given this prestediguous title I will work very hard to be what I have been labeled. Please trust that I will and forever shall be just a humble plain old moderator....but if you feel you must pay me for this PM me and I'll send you my paypal info
  15. Just as a headsup.. be aware that the Super Tech (WalMart) filter has changed. All seems to be the same, except that the bypass valve is no longer the caged spring-disc-seal but the plastic button-spring type similar to the Fram... pics at Link HERE (need to join to see pics but unlike this site, membership is free) SDB/Jim

  18. Some one mentioned awhile back to use Amsoil Syn. Hypoid 75/140 in the rear end.... question is, has any one used Super Tech full syn. 75/140 ?? and would it be ok to use??
  19. http://www.tlcproducts.com/servlet/Detail?no=121 Thinking about picking up this liner set for my saddlebags and trunk, because I'm getting ready to do some travelling for work and would like to take the bike. I've always figured these would come in super handy. Anyone used them, or know of a place to get a better deal on them? I didn't think $80+shipping seemed too bad.
  20. They sell these on ebay, about $50 I think. Anyone made their own? I have been trying to keep my eye out for something that might work. Thought about a visor organizer made for car/truck and then use super velcro to lid. Even a net of some sort would be nice. Place for maps and such. Give some ideas. Thanks,

    Cleaning your Chrome

Cleaning the bits of road tar, melted plastic, or rubber off from the bottom of your passengers soles, even the bluing caused from too rich a mixture (running the bike with choke on too long) can be a difficult task to clean off the chrome pipes of your bike. So I would like to offer up the method I have found to be successful in returning chrome to it's show room finish. Using a small artist's brush spread "Lepage Super Strippa" a semi-gel paint and vanish remover onto the chrome area to be cleaned. Leave on for approximately 10 minutes. Then using "Super Fine 0000" steel wool rub the area with back and forth strokes removing any unwanted material, wipe area clean with a soft cloth, repeat all of the above if necessary. After you have removed the unwanted material to your satisfaction, then dampen a clean soft cloth with acetone and wipe down all the chrome for a show room finish. Warning!!!!!!! Apply this method to COLD chrome only. Both the Varnish Remover and Acetone are highly flammable and will drastically harm paint and plastic. Caution!!!!! Use only Super Fine 0000 (4 zero's) steel wool anything less than 4 zero's will mark the chrome.
