  1. OK...I bit the bullet. This morning the temps were 19 degrees outside, so I waited until about 1pm to go into the dealer and take my BEATING. I hate dealing with car/bike salesman...they made it sound like I was doing them a favor...but WE ALL know better. Anyway...I walked out with a 2009 Royal Star Venture-S...Seashell/Raven. It is supposed to be COLD and RAINING for the next 2 days...so I can sit on it and read about it. I will share my thoughts and questions after a couple of days with the bike... And without further adieu...here it is (looks pretty much like the ones on the net) LOL Thanks to everyone for their help. Wally
  2. SHOW YOUR STUDENTS I like this teacher. A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. 'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.' And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.' At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.' By the way, this is a true story. Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by U. S.,Canadian, Australian & British Veterans.)

  5. Just to fill the gaps. The wife and I moved the Chattanooga last spring after our house sold. We were there for ten months and Momma got homesick and wanted to be here for the new grand baby. So we packed up and moved back to Michigan. We bought a mobile home to live in while we looked for a house that we liked. Now fast forward to the present... My Father-in-law has had two hip replacements in the last there years, the first went off without a hitch, the second one...Not so well. He has had to go in four more times for surgery on number two, and they still don't have it right and most likely never will. So, he is having a hard time with falling down, because he still thinks he is 30 years old and like to climb on roofs and ladders. Yes, he fell off the roof... He has a huge house with three empty bedrooms now that the brother-in-law moved out (finally) So my wife tells me a few weeks ago, we are just going to move in with Dad and take over the bills and keep him safe. Yesterday, He and I along with my two youngest boys, were moving out all of the crap that Brother left behind and my wife was cleaning the house. After one trip to the storage unit with his truck, my Tahoe and trailer it was time for dinner. Momma made my favorite summer time dinner, Brats!! We sit down at the table, Dad is complaining of a headache and looks very tired, after all he is 70, he should be tired. Well, he takes one bite of food, and GRABS HIS CHEST!!! Now he is huffing and puffing like a pedophile at recess and saying "I can't breath"! And starts to retch like he is gonna get sick. I've worked on the road for ten years, I have seen a chit ton of cardiac patients, but never actually saw the start of a heart attack.... till now. I didn't have anything with me, no oxygen, no AED, No ET tubes, no PB cuff... Nothing that I needed right then. Momma calls 911 and I sit there talking to him, like words could actually help him at that point. About 6 minutes after the on-set we have four police cars, two fire trucks, an Echo unit and an ambulance in the yard. ( it helps to be known I guess) Two minutes later he is running code down the highway to the hospital. The wife spent the night at the Hospital with him and as of this AM nobody knows what happened to him. They have ruled out a Stroke and a Heart attack They are keeping him for a few more days to run tests to make sure everything Cardiac is ruled out... Meanwhile, here I sit with my thumb firmly planted.
  6. Squeeze, A while back a comment was made about the hand-control for the back brake(for disabled riders) that SPEIGLER makes and you offered to help me if I needed it...........guess what?? I NEED IT!! It is going to be safer if I can put the back brake up onto the handlebars--as my right foot needs to sit where the brake pedal is. Can you get me any information about it:think: You said the factory was not far from you, and I would appreciate any help okay:bowdown:
  7. I was brainstorming last summer (scary as that may be) and my buddy who owns a metal fab shop and I built these hiway peg/pad extenders I am 6'6" and these do the job well on my 1st gen and sit plenty high enough not to interfere in turns Not bad for hillbilly home made
  8. Can tips/ends be put on the Venture mufflers?? If so, which are recommended:confused24: I want the end of the mufflers to face DOWN a bit, due to there being a plate directly behind them on the trike conversion that may over time get heat damaged. (It covers the springs at the back) Also the rubber end of my crutches will sit near there while I ride. Don't want to pull up and find a burnt crutch!! The smell of burning rubber would put the wind up me anyway!! (is it bike trouble)
  9. footsie

    roadsofa

Does anyone in Ga, AL, or north fla have a roadsofa on a Venture, I would like to sit on one before I order spend money on one. Thanks Gregg
  10. Just wondering if anybody here has tried shortening the cable for the Zumo XM unit? I wish it was only about 12" long. Even in my car, I sit it on the dash right under the windshield mount for the unit. A 12" cable would be plenty.
  11. I just bought a 04 RSV and have noticed that the antenna's are reversed to all the photos I've seen( all but one ). On my bike the cb is on the right and radio is on the left ( left and right as you sit on the bike ). Does this matter and is there any way I can check to make sure they're wired correctly? any and all help is appreciated
  12. I am still waiting for you to pm me your mailing address so I can mail ride like a pro to you. I don't want to skip anyone on the list but I can't sit on it forever either .
  13. I marked the states visited on the map of US and Canada...The 2 maps sit in "my pictures"..how do I get it into my posts like the other members have? Thanks
  14. Or at least SPRING. I'm really tired of winter now. I know that some of you are getting some really bitter cold right now. Bad enough here, 9 F right now but also 27 MPH winds gusting up to 40 MPH. Makes it pretty nasty. Got just a covering of snow last night and the wind drives it right through you. Picked up a used hot tub a couple of weeks ago and spent all day yesterday building a base to sit it on. Digging 3 ft. deep holes in this ground was not all that much fun. Got it done though and got the hot tub on it. Filled and warming right now and plan to sit out in the 4 degree or so temps this evening and ENJOY it. Just need to run to the store and pick up some Baily's for my coffee.
  15. I do not know what to do with Tom's bike. It currently sits in a friends garage from church. We had not advertised it, but he was going to park it out front of his house. I feel awful just leaving it sit there. But, I cannot bring it back here. We emptied out the barn to build a cottage, but the construction has stopped on that and now the part bike sits out on a slab of concrete with a tarp over it. I guess it will not be sold this year. I do not trust EBay. I don't have an account there anyway. I asked Jason to post on here and ask what we should do, but he is too busy with everything else he is trying to help me with, with his school and job What to do with my Tom's pride and joy?
  16. sold my ride 4 weeks ago, hoping to go to a dealer to sit on a rsv to make sure i'm a good fit for it. every dealer tells me the same story " we don't carry that bike because nobody wants them they want goldwings" the thing is i want one, but i really would like to sit on one before i order one. does new jersey differ in taste from the rest of the usa. any suggestions? i thing i will try pennsylvania, the eastern part.i live in morris county.
