  1. You know....sometimes in life you are the bug and other times you are the windshield. I honestly feel like the bug right now. We had a nice Christmas in spite of some aches and pains though. First of all, Christmas Eve morning I started coming down with a rather nasty cold. Sore throat, head all stopped up so I felt like I was in a drum when I talked, etc. Nothing too terrible but certainly not feeling 100%. Then by later Christmas Eve, my body decided that it was due for a flareup of my Gout. Now those of you who truly have Gout know exactly what it does to you. I usually get it a couple of times a year in my left toes and ankle but this time, it hit full strength in both feet...toes, ankles, etc. It darn near crippled me to the point that I could barely get out of bed and get down the stairs on Christmas morning but I finally managed to make it. Took some pain pills and within a couple of hours, I was pretty much functional again but with the gout and the cold I just wasn't feeling my best. The day progressed nicely enough. Watched my son open his gifts, had a nice fire going in the fireplace, coffee for Eileen and I and hot chocolate for Dylan. Just a very nice quite family time. Later in the day my brother in law came over and also Tony who is my wife's nephew accompanied by his finance and her two children. Had a very nice time and then later a fantastic Christmas dinner. After dinner we all pitched in and cleaned up a bit. The refrigerator was so full that I decided to take the ham into the garage and put it on top of the freezer over night as it was plenty cold in the garage to store it there. Well, over the past few months I have progressively approached total blindness in my right eye. I'm slowly adjusting to it but am just not there yet. I guess it was a combination of being a bit crippled from the Gout and my depth perception still being off from the loss of site in my eye but when I stepped out of the kitchen into the garage, I completely missed the top step. There is a three stop drop from the kitchen to the concrete garage floor and there I was in a free fall of about 3 ft. while holding a nice large Pyrex platter with a ham in it in my hands. As I fell, I managed to twist around so that the Pyrex platter would not hit the concrete floor and was successful. I managed to hold onto the platter and keep it from hitting the floor and shattering and thus saved the dish and the ham. The only problem is that in doing so, I successfully twisted both of my already hurting ankles and also found that using your left knee, left elbow and HEAD to cushion a 3 ft. fall off a set of steps is not necessarily the best course of action. So....I am now laying here on the couch after managing to slowly ease down the stairs this morning. I am nursing two sprained ankles, a twisted left knee, a sprained left elbow, rash on my left knee and left elbow, a knot on my head and I STILL have this danged cold. Otherwise, life is good. I hope that you all have a fun but SAFE New Years day. I think I'm going to just wrap myself in bubble wrap and hole up here until spring.
  2. She would give me this tour as a birthday gift: http://www.edelweissbike.com/4DACTION/web_Send?webNavigation=0502010101&webRecordNumber=1002202&webNumber=4275&webLanguage=E&webDetailPage=02 40,000 miles, 6 continents, 8 months. It's only $157k for the two of us! She wouldn't have to get me a Christmas present!
  3. Ok guys, this is for all you that have shut down for the winter. The day after christmas, Gregg(footsie),me, and 3 of his relatives and friends went on a ride down to Bradenton,FL from Gregg's house in Sycamore, GA. We had a great time!! It was a little cool(mid 50's), but the ride was good. It was mostly cloudy the 2 days we were riding but we survived. From Bradenton we shot back up to Tampa then over to Daytona Beach to spend the night before heading back on Sunday. We had a late dinner(supper for us country folks) at Charlie Horse in Daytona Beach. Gregg tried to eat all their crablegs. We stayed at one of the cheap hotels on North Atlantic Blvd. It was old but clean and had a high pressure shower that felt soooo good after the days lenghty ride. Back at my home I checked the mileage for myself to be 916 miles for the 2 day trip. Thanks to footsie and his friends for letting me tag along.

  6. Whenever I have to stay overnight in the Hospital my co-pay is a automatic $1067.00. With me in the hospital last November and the upcoming surgery on January 23rd that is $2134.00 in Hospital co-pays. I applied for help with the co-pays through the Hospital and this morning they called and told me I was approved. They are wiping out the November one and covering any Hospital co-pays for the next 6 months so that will cover the surgery co-pay. Still have to pay all the doctors and tests co-pays but covering that $2134.00 sure takes a load of my mind. Merry Christmas to me. Also Merry Christmas to the entire Venture.org Family.

    Christms video

This is unreal, you have to watch this short video I guess there really are no limits to what can be done visually and acoustically with modern technology - amazing! Elvis, When he was really "The King" - Martina McBride was digitally dropped in to this track in 2008...Best close-up of Elvis I've ever seen!!!! This is Modern-Tech at its finest. Very appropriate for this coming "Christmas" Click on link below. http://release.theplatform.com/content.select?pid=5mCzgDf_lCZ3uKBDkKLY2_dqmD4_S0yF&UserName=Unknown Amazing, how good this is, enjoy as I did. Elvis - Born January 08, 1935. Died August 16, 1977 Martina - Born July29, 1966 - Merry Christmas to my venture friends!!
  10. I would rather sell my 2000 MM Corbin seat to someone here for less than to put it on Ebay so here's it is! I have my tan seat in the classified with pictures listed at $150 but I'll sell it to one of our members for $100 plus shipping. The seat is a bit worn - missing a stud or two - has no backrest but has the slot - but I find it to be very comfortable. The only reason for selling it is that I found a newer one with a backrest that I bought. It would make a great Christmas present for yourself!
  11. This is what I'm getting the wife for Christmas. She lost her "baby" Cleo 3 yrs ago at the age of 8. I figure she has grieved long enough and it's time for a new one. Whatta yall think?-Jack

  15. I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book And every year at Christmas time I go and take a look And that is when I realise that those names are a part - Not of the book they are written in, but of my very heart. For each name stands for someone who has touched my life sometime, And left such a print of friendship that they are good friends of mine. And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim I really feel I am composed of each remembered name. And while you may not be aware of any special link, Just knowing you has shaped my life more than you can think. For once you’ve met somebody, the years cannot erase The memory of a pleasant word or of a friendly face. So never think my Christmas cards are just a mere routine Of names upon a Christmas list-forgotten in between. For when I send a Christmas card that is addressed to you, It’s because you are on a list of folks I am indebted to. For one is but a total of the many folks they’ve met And you happen to be one of those I prefer NOT to forget. And whether I have known you for many years or few, In some way you have had a part in shaping things I do. And every year when Christmas comes, I realise anew - The biggest gift life can give is knowing folks like you!! And may the spirit of Christmas that eternally endures, Leave its richest blessing in the hearts of you and yours. Merry Christmas Everyone Annie and Alan Collins
  16. Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, There were bottles and butts left around by some louse. And the best fifth I'd hidden by the chimney with care Had been snatched by some bum who had found it right there. My pals: guys and gals had been poured into their beds To wake in the morning with hungover heads. My mouth, full of cotton, dropped down with a snap Because I was dying for one wee nightcap. When through the south window there came such a yell, I sprang to my feet to see what the hell... And what to my bloodshot eyes should I see But eight drunken reindeer caught in a tree. Way in 'mongst the branches was a man in a sleigh. I saw it was Santa, quite oiled and tres gay. Staggering nearer those eight reindeer came As he burped and hiccupped and called them by name: "On Whiskey, on Vodka, we ain't got all night! You too, Gin and Brandy, now all do it right. Clammer up to the roof; get the hell off this wall! Get going you rummies, we've still a long haul!" So up on the roof went the reindeer and sleigh, But a tree branch hit Santa before he could sway And then to my ears, like the roll of a barrel, Came a hell of a noise that was no Christmas carol. So I pulled in my head and cocked a sharp ear. Down the chimney he plunged, landing smack on his rear. He was dressed all in red, with white fur for a trim. And the way Santa swayed, he was tanked to the brim. The sack on his back held nothing but booze, And the breath that he blew nearly put me to snooze. He was both plump and chubby and tried to stand right. But he didn't fool me; he was high as a kite. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And missed half the stockings, the plastered old jerk. And laying his thumb on the end of his nose, He fluttered his fingers as he quoted prose. He sprang for his sleigh at so hasty a pace He tripped on a shingle and slid on his face. But I heard him burp back as he passed out of sight: "Merry Christmas, you lushes, now really get tight."
  17. As a new member to this forum I wanted to say thanks to everyone. This is an amazing resource. We are enjoying our new 09 RSV and can't wait for our first long road trip with this bike. Merry Christmas from the Reece family! David, Cindy, Jennifer, Natalie and Evan As most of you can probably see form the picture, I married up.
  18. This is from my daughter, Jacque, who works with the guy who actually did this in Huntsville! Enjoy! Bobbie "Good news is that I truly outdid myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down. First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by. Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard"
  19. I'd just like to wish everyone on this site a very merry Christmas! 20. Being basically a motorcycle forum, I bet you thought Orange County Chopper by the OCC in the thread title. That's not really the case. I did manage to land a temporary gig for a few weeks during the Christmas season for a program called OCC. I am not however, working for the dastardly Paul Tuetal Sr. infamous abuser (of Paulie Jr. and Mickey) on the Orange County Chopper motorcycle build reality show. Instead, the OCC I'm talking about is a program called Operation Christmas Child. This OCC is part of the Billy and Franklin Graham outreach ministry Samaritan's Purse. This OCC is about collecting shoe boxes of toys (this year 8 million plus) to send to impoverished children in India, Pakistan and the Ukraine along with a message about " The Greatest Gift of all JESUS." I do have to admit that in the past few years, for various reasons, I have been more of a Christmas Grinch or Scrooge :Im not listening tothan a Santa or merry Christmas Elf. Partly because of the fact that my birthday is at Christmas and each Christmas season is a reminder of my rapidly aging condition and impending mortality. :backinmyday:And partly because my children are now grown and the magic of Christmas in my children's eyes has been replaced with the realistic distant stare of fear:scared: of having to worry about the cost and hectic pace of providing Christmas. Truth be told, not that I'm proud of it, Christmas, (for me in recent years) has been more of a bothersome burden than a seasonal blessing. My small role in this program consist of organizing teams of volunteers into a assembly line processing machine where these shoe boxes are received, sifted, inspected, sealed, sorted, packaged, packed, loaded and shipped out heading for their final destination to a distant country into the arms of a child. My initial assessment of the process seemed more like an exercise in organizing Chaos. But, to my surprise, as the assignment has been developing what I am seeing is an accumulation of small miracles happening on a shoe box to box basis. Miracles that are humbling and reminding me how small I am in the scheme of things and how great God's love is to make all of the necessary things, people and energy come together to make all of this possible. During the hectic pace of this assignment I have been uncharacteristically catching myself singing Christmas carols. I have the day off tomorrow, I might even put up a few strings of Christmas lights and decorations up around the place.
  21. I want to thank Allen and Patti of Diamond R Accessories for letting us know about their Christmas sale. Not only is Diamond R one of the few companies in the WORLD who actually manufacture and sell custom accessories for our bikes but they have always been a FANTASTIC supporter of our club. If you haven't checked out their site, now would be a GREAT time to do so. They are having a Christmas Special on ALL products (10% off regular prices) while supplies last. Check them out at: http://www.diamondraccessories.com
  22. and they are nice. Thanks for the work in getting these done. thanks Don for not putting a road block on these. Lady Massey says i have to get her a jacket to put hers on. I was wondering when she was gonna want some M/C gear! Christmas is jus' around the corner too! while our pins may look like someone else's - they are much different cause they are ours!
  23. Hey folks, I've been thinking (yeah, dangerous stuff that:scratchchin:) that what with Christmas coming up and us having a pretty good size organization, it might be nice for us to do "something" for the kids for Christmas. What I was thinking of was some sort of "group" contribution to perhaps the Marine Corps "Toys for Tots", or St. Judes. I would envision us sending individual checks made out to whatever charity we select to a single collection point, then one of our guys making a formal presentation to the charity on behalf of VentureRider. If we'd all kick in a lousy $10 bucks we'd raise more than $20,000 and THAT would make a real difference for a bunch of kids (And it would be some Great Publicity for VentureRider). Anyway, just a thought of something that might be fun for us to do this Christmas season. Whadda ya think?
  24. What MP3 player can I get that plugs directly into the radio and work well? What kind do you have and how does it work? Good things you like? Bad things you don't like. Kids want to get me something for Christmas and that is all I can think of. Steve
