Received this from my brother in Mt. Found it interesting. Maybe others will too. http://www.yikebike.com/site/gallery/video/yikebike-discovery-channel
  2. Big Bend Friends, This is Blanco Tom's sister, Kerry. I was unable to register as HARDCORE because the user name was taken. So I register as C50 HARDCORE. Enjoyed our trip together and really appreciate your guidance and patience with me on this first trip. Tom and I rode 2 of the 3 sisters today. It was great! Do you want to be my friend? I promise...I am not like my brother. :12101:LOL
  3. not sure waht the problem could be? i bought this bike over 2 years ago. it sat for a year. but was started twice a month? i bought it rather dirt cheap. i think. $1200. since then i installed new windshield, brakes and rotors, new dunlop tires, and put seafoam in the tank and down the carbs, ok now here is the problem. after the seafoam treatment and somoked like hell LOL i let it sit for 2 days and continued to fire it there after. due to a severe knne injury i could not ride it:95: well today i had to move it to my brother inlaws gargae. it sat out side for 2 weeks under a very nice custom cover. i started the bike it would just die and not idle well. i let the choke on about 1/2 way and she ran ok. i then let the choke off it would idle for about 2 minutes and then just chug on down to about 700 rpms. then start to back fire . i would crack the throttle and it would hesitate but then rev up ok. i then took off for the 25 mile ride. to the brother inlaws house. knee brace on. and all. the bike just would not get past 55 mph???? in top gear it would act like there just was no more power to give?? being that its going on good old winter time. and being in bad shape. i dont have time to dig into it. but would love suggestions on whats going on. total knee replacement on friday the 13 th . so time to work on the bike will have to come slowly. unless i find a good shop around here. there is a harley shop here that worked on it once but that shop kept putting my bike back in the shop and took 3 weeks for a tire change and brake job. can you say they didnt give a **** about me just when i went in there and complained enough they finished it and then had the never to say they didnt want my kind of customer around there shop. now i have to find some good old boy or shop willing to help a old goat get this old bike up and running. it has 77.000 miles and in my honest opion wasent taken good care of after the person i got it from went total harley. no offense to harley owners. but i grew up where no matter what ya rode. if ya see a 2 wheeler broke down along side the road you stopped to give help. and yes i also own what harley owners call the girrlie bike a 883 huger.. well enough will any one help a old goat:innocent-emoticon:
  4. Me and my better half decided this summer that it was time for her to learn how to ride. I kept an eye out for something small and not in the best of shape in case she was to drop it. So... I just brought home an 81 Suzuki GS550L yesterday. It's actually in pretty good shape considering it has been sitting outside at my Dad's for the last few years. It belonged to my cousin who has been waiting for my brother to fix it. Neither ever had much success keeping it running. There were no keys to be found anywhere so I went to the locksmith with the ignition today to have a set of keys made using the code on the housing. I hooked a battery up to it, turned the key and everything lit up like it should. When I hit the start switch and nothing happened. When I pulled off the cover on the right side to try and track down why it wouldn't turn over, I noticed some wires that had been cut. As far as I can tell, someone swiped the rectifier. They didn't even bother unplugging it. They just snipped all the wires in one clean cut. For some reason, my brother comes to mind. First question, would cutting those wires make it not turn over when the start button is pressed? I've had other bikes and they would still at least turn over without a rectifier. Second question, what other years and models used the same rectifier? I'd be able to increase my odds of getting one if I knew. Third question, anybody here have an extra one laying around? Fourth and last question, would any of you know if there is a manual somewhere online that I can download? Thanks, Bill

  6. Over the weekend, Lori and I rode our bikes down near to Johnson City, TN, where my brother lives. It's about a twelve hour ride from home. Lori rode her own bike there too. One of our activities for the weekend was riding The Snake, also known as Hwy 421 or Shady Valley. It is fully the equal of the Dragon, but not quite so widely known. My brother and his wife on the left are riding a '95 Kaw GPZ 1100, my beaming wife is riding her '02 V Star 1100, and almost completely hidden from view is my bike. We put on over 1200 miles by the time we were back home, all without incident. A good weekend. http://www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com/
  7. I know this isn't bike related but maybe someone can help me. A few weeks ago my mother passed away and my brother and I are starting to clear up the estate. My mother collected Fostoria and various other crystal and cut glass pieces. My brother and I know nothing about this stuff or how to value it. We spent today photographing each piece and I have uploaded those photos to my web site. They can be seen at: www.traynorphoto.com/momscrystal We know there are some valuable pieces and some that are not. However, we don't know which is which. We are reluctant to send the items to an auction house because we would hate to see a $600 pitcher go for $6. Does anyone have any idea how to find the true value on these items or how best to sell them? Our intent with the photos was to just email dealers and offer the pieces up for sale and ask for offers. We're just sort of overwhelmed by the number of pieces mom had. Thanks, Dennis

  10. Mom Nabbed for Breastfeeding While Driving http://www.newser.com/story/52071/mom-nabbed-for-breastfeeding-while-driving.html It never ceases to amaze me at just how stupid the human race can be sometimes. This is a classic example of why "Big Brother" thinks he has to make so many ridiculous laws to protect us from ourselves. A few people out of how many millions does something stupid, and now we ALL will have to suffer the consequences.
  11. My brother sent me this and I thought it was great. http://www.bornagainamerican.org/
  12. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/01/ohio_studies_vehiclemiles_tax.html We'll all big brother knowing where we've been and how many miles we've driven in a year.
  13. Had a friend come to me and said he knew of a fellow that was trying to sell his '89 Goldwing 1500 and would I look at it, as he knew I rode bikes. So we all got together Sat. and I told him what I thought of it and he says "ya want it?". Asked what he was asking for it. He told me and said he needed the money for something else he wanted. I said sure, so now my VR has a brother to play with

  17. my brother, Don H. fooled around and caught a cold. now a cold ain't so bad, for most of us, but for chemo patients, it can be "life threatening". he spent most of yesterday, at the hospital, "getting pumped full of stuff", as he put it. the stuff, was anti-biotics, and fluids. he is dehydrated. i think me and the cold, has convinced him , to stay at home, and forget about work, for a while. please remember my "adopted" brother , in your prayers. just jt.
  18. I may have missed a thread about this subject, but it is "Motorcyclist Awareness Month"! Has anyone participated in any events to promote motorcycling safety? I believe we can all do our part about reminding cage drivers of the importance of looking out for our brother and sister riders. It really should be done all year long, but let's work on what we have in May. Peggy:7_2_104[1]:
  19. A co-worker of mine, came down to my office today, to tell me what happened to his brother. His brother bought a used motorcycle after many years of not owning one. I would guess his brother is low 60's. Not sure the type of bike but he paid 11,000 for a used bike. Anyway he was out riding and as he was slowly rounding a corner he hit some gravel and went down. SO now he has to pick up the bike which he manages to do, but then over it went to the other side. Meanwhile a fellow in a van stops to help. After they get the bike up and on the sideside he sits on it and trys to start it. As it starts the bike takes off and hits this fellows van. The bike smashes the corner of the van, he hits the windshield breaking it. The van has approx 4500 damage and the bike is sent to the shop. The mechanic stated that the safety switches must have been damaged in the fall and Bike has almost 10,000 damage. My co-worker thought it was hilarious, but his brother is okay but he cracked the bone in his lower leg, he is sore but he wants the bike fixed so he can go riding. I too found myself laughing at the story, just glad he is okay.
  20. I have a 84 venture royale. When the engine is warm it turns over very slow while starting. This happens even when the battery is fully charged? My bought this bike 5 years ago from my brother who owned it for 10 years before me. he said it had always done this for him also. Anyone hear of this problem before?
  21. this evening, as i stopped in at the ONLY convenience store in my town, i saw two 1%'ers, sitting there. one was "broke down", and the other was "standing by." my conscience, got the best of me, after about 30 minutes, so i went back to offer assistance. the stand-by "brother", was gone! the guy that was broke down, said that he was waiting for his "little brother", to come and get him in a pick-up truck. he told me it was 2 1/2 hours , 'til his brother could get here. now, my question is, "how/or would you offer assistance, to a person in need , who could have a "cloudy background"? just jt
  22. A few months ago someone had posted a link to a awesome slide show set to Roll me away by Bob Seger. if any body has this link can you please post it again it was great!!! I forwarded it to my brother and he loved it as well. we were talking about it tonight and neither of us have the link.
  23. My brother is bedridden with M.S. Yesterday I came home late to find a phone message to call him. I found out that some lowlife POS broke into my brother's home while my brother's wife and daughter were out, ransacked the house looking for cash and valuables to fence and was not satisfied with that.....he attacked my brother stabbing him in the legs numerous times and even tried to slit his throat while wrestling him from his bed. Luckily the knife that stupid brought with him wasn't sharp, so my brother's wounds weren't too serious and he was treated and released from the hospital. What kind of world is this? Needless to say, I would like to find this guy myself and save the local PD the touble of an investigation and trial. Anyway, sorry to unload my problems.....just had to get it out.
  24. This weekend while riding the Talimena Drive we happened upon 'The Moving Wall'. For those who don't know what this is - it's a replica of the Vietnam Memorial in DC. To see all the names of the men and women who gave their lives while serving our county in Vietman, is moving beyond words. Bill Ingraham and PrettyLady paid their respect to the fallen heros, while NEWTrk06 and I visited my brother who is listed on pannel 39E line 66, Marine Lance Corporal Harry Warren Schneider, who died from wounds received in combact on Feb. 16, 1968.
