never really cared much about what harley riders think about me. i haven't got time to worry about it. there are aholes on all brands. a harley rider is just another person out there doing there thing. if i form opinions on them, and bash them, i figure im no better than the ones doing it to me. so i just ride and get along with all of them. got some good friends on harleys and i never ever say nothing but good things about their ride no matter what i think, and they give me the same curtesy. the harley thing will go on forever and i just avoid being a part of it.

great news john. you can't ride to the rally. you got to bring all the prizes. you trying to get fired before the first day on the job. :rotf:

just read the sticky for the weigh in for st. jude at maintenance day. brad said the donations aren't going so good right now. being the big supporter of st. jude that i am, i'm going to put out a plea for all you folks that would like to unload a little money for a really great cause, to donate what ever you can afford to. these kids don't know from nothin, and need all the help they can get. i have been to st. jude and it is a wonderful place. email brad or don if you would like to help the cause. bill :clap2:

brad i just weighed in like i said i would and weighed 227 lb. i blew it. i think my goal was 196 lbs. that leaves me with a 31 pound penalty. since i was a volunteer for the weigh in and a no show at md, i am sending via paypal $50.00 for st. jude. do you want me to send it to you or don? bill ps. tell everyone i said hello and have a great time. :clap2:

i'm not saying it did'nt increase the power. it just did'nt seem all that noticable when it did come in. at least not like the tests portrayed. maybe alot of the hype was the intake sound which i never heard. i put the kerker 4 into 1 exaust on it with competition baffle almost at day one. you could'nt hear the intake. i wish i still had it. it is still the coolest bike i ever owned. sounded like a small block chevy on uppers, and ran like a blown big block chevy. not quite as fast as my zx 14 but totally bad. a real arm stretcher at any speed. back then there was'nt near the goodies available. i had to make my own. i knocked off over 124 lbs. i looked at a new max a few weeks ago and decided i'm on my last fast bike. got a little more to do to my 14 then i'm going to hang up the speed thing. my medication and the extreme g force just don't get along. thats the only thing i really miss getting old. ( THE SPEED THING)

hey squeeze, i had an 89 v-max, very warmed over that i bought new. with all the mods i did it was a high 9 second machine. i did'nt find the v-boost to be all that impressive, at least not like all the publications made of it. i heard all these stories about all hell breaking loose when the v-boost opened. i did'nt notice that. all hell broke loose from the git go on mine. i think the v-boost was way over publisized. i honestly think there are much more noticable performance options. do you agree or disagree? bill

one other thing, if you drain the fork oil, it will not all just drain out of the cartridge side. the cartridge holds several ounces. the cartridge has to be pumped to get the old oil out and the new oil in. the best way is to measure the oil level is from the top. if i remember right you have to measure it under full compression with both fork caps out, and no springs. you really need a service manual. because the two fork legs are totally different. one has a cartrdge and one doesn't. only one side has antidive. they are a very complex design. who ever did the springs may have not got all the oil out of the cartridge side and overfilled it. if you can swing it i would just go with the race tech all the way. most bang for the buck. it will never ride as soft as a 2nd gen. honda set it up firm to give it the great handling it has in a 900 lb. bike. after the racetech job it feels more like a 600lb bike in the twisties. one other tip. if you disassemble the fork legs, do one at a time so you don't get things mixed up. another thing you need to check is if your antidive is deactivated. you can check this out by holding your foot on the brake and there should be no fork compression at all. also your antidive valve may be stuck. this is a very common problem due to corrosion and it will make the front end stiff. you do not need antidive with the progressive springs so get rid of it and check your fork oil level before you do anything. bill

hey buddy.i have the racetech full front suspension set up in my wing, including the .95 springs, gold valve, and emulator. mine does'nt ride rough but the ride is firmer than oem. the original set up was terrible on rough roads. it could be your dampening does'nt match the springs. progressive springs should'nt be that stiff. the oem wing front suspension is the pitts. my antidive is deactivated. i did the whole race tech mod for a little over $300.00. and would never go back. the progressive rear shock is next to go in. when i get time. i got a new one here. mine handles like a sportbike and has 100% feed back on all road conditions. you could have to thick of fork oil. i am using belray10w with stiction additive. the oem dampening is not real good the tire bounced over bumps. now the tire stays on the ground like it is supposed to. like i said it does ride firmer. it ain't no cadillac. thats the price you pay when you make an already good handling bike into a super handling bike. mine also sits higher so things don't drag as much in the curves. basiclly i think your rebound dampening is not working with the spring rate. you may not like the way mine rides. although it is fairly smooth on the highway. hope you get it ironed out. bill

Georgia Trooper not indicted in biker's death
Snarley Bill replied to RandyR's topic in Watering Hole
i think the key word here is accident. the officer was doing his job and made a mistake which i'm sure he deeply regrets. we all make mistakes it's called human error. i doubt if he was on the phone or eating a burger. i have made a few misjudgements in my life that could have killed someone. it is a shame that fatal accidents happen. some are do to neglegence, and some are do to the fact that we are not machines and are capable of error that can often times cause a major disaster. just my 2 cents. bill -
