  2. annie, i have been following your posts since you came to the site. i like your style. you are cool in my book. we need more americans like you. sure you don't want to move over here. we could use about fifty million people that are as nice as, and think like you. my kind of gal. bill :clap2::clap2:
  3. been to the vogel meet twice, and it is one not to miss. lewis does it up right. the scenery and hospitality is second to none. bill
  4. cindy, there is a motel right next door to crackerbarrel with an indoor pool. i think you can see the pool from the cracker barrel lot. i will try to ride by and get the name tomorrow.
  5. it is possible. after 3 tries i did it and it runs.
  6. looks like we are going to have a big turn out for my annual st. charles meet. i'ts going to be the biggest one yet. looking forward to seeing everyone. been shopping the last three weeks for food, no one will leave missouri hungry. i can't wait, and have put an order in for good weather. we have lucked out the last 2 years on the weather and i have 2 fantastic rides planned. see yopu folks there. bill
  7. thats great, but it's not really my decision for 2010. i just made the offer. got to wait for the main man to decide. did'n't mean to undermine anyone that was thinking about doing it. just wanted to let everyone know i would be willing if no one else feels like taking on the task. the main thing now is to pull off the 09 rally without a hitch. jerry , thanks for the support. bill
  8. don thats great news. glad you made it through it with a good prognosis. now if i could get you to my st. charles meet you could let your hair down and relax. if you want to cage it i have a v-star here you could ride with all the creature comforts. i'm sure everyone would like to see you and linda and i would love to have you. bill:2133:
  9. just a reminder to get your registrations in as soon as you can for the 09 rally. not being pushy, i just keep remembering black owls advise. don't let the folks forget. cindy has the t-shirts to order and name pins to make and we have to figure on the food. this is going to be the big one so, we want to get it right for all the folks. thanks bill
  10. you ain't seen no work yet. we are going to kick butt after the st. charles meet.
  11. you know how it is you just can't get the gals up that early, and when you do it takes 2 hours to get them going. :rotf:
  12. check walmart automotive dept. the have a new line of accessories and led strips at a bargain price. you can even press a button on the package and see what they look like lit up. they run between $9.00 and 29.00 if i remember right. i may buy some. bill
  13. if you are coming saturday we are meeting at the crackerbarrel at 8pm for breakfast and a good ride to follow. bill
  14. i think don said something about possibly having one in ohio next year. don't know yet. if he does'nt i would be willing to head another one up. we have a town called montgomery city that has a big fairgrounds we can get with camping and electric hook ups 2 large buildings with a big kitchen, right in the middle of alot of beautiful riding country with nearby motels and restaurants. it's about 60 miles west of st. louis about 6 miles off i-70. my st. charles meet gets bigger every year, so this year i made it longer, 3 days. i could just convert it to the international rally next year, and move it west a little. just a thought i had. bill
  15. hey dan sure hope you get or got another bike. looking forward to seeing you at the ar. rally good buddy. don't forget the hieneken. dry county. bill :clap2: ps.see you at dons place too.
  16. i'm proud of all our people in the service. good luck to your sons. i think they will like the experience. bill
  17. like i said this is a no win argument, to each his own. you got to do what your comfortable with. if you check out the mobil website they don't recognize the four ball test as being a valid test. bill
  18. i would say it is close. the diesel oil has a little more acid neutralizer in it. and 15w-50 is to high a viscosity for these engines. diesel engines run alot more bearing clearance than our bikes do so they can use a thicker oil. reason being they have tremendous crank bearing journal diameters, and need more clearance to promote good oil flow. bill
  19. on the oil thing , what it amounts to is what ever gives you piece of mind. there are many on the wing site that use honda dino oil and change oil and filter every 8000 mile. that is the change interval honda recommends, and they have over 200,000 miles on their bikes. some are nearing 300,000. i just can't go that long, and i use what i feel is the best for me. mobil1 automotive, energy conserving, extended performance, 10w-30. this is the very best synthetic exxon mobil makes including motorcycle specific. it is garranteed for 15,000 mile + oil changes. it makes me feel good and thats what counts. i change it every 3,000 miles in my wing. was going to go to 4,000 last change but just could'nt find it in my heart. i like to keep my motors smiling. lol. i still say if you use a premium oil be it syn. or dino, you aren't going to hurt that motor. if you use what the factory recommends and change it at the recommended intervals. am i throwing my money away? probably. but it makes me feel better knowing my bike gets the best. the worst that you can do is use oil with a higher viscosity then the factory recommends. the main and rod bearing clearance on these new age motors is so close. thick oil will not circulate fast enough to lube critical parts like pistons and rings, etc. mostly when the engine is cold. i have built enough street and race car and motorcycle engines in my day, that i think i have a pretty good handle on the oil thing. so i feel good with the oil i use. bill
  20. thats why i use energy conserving. it's all about the moledinum disulfide, a very expensive anti friction anti wear additive. very slick. less drag means less wear. this is why you use less gas and get more power. less friction means your engine lasts longer. clutch abuse ruins clutches. clutches are cheaper than engines and easy to change. never had a clutch slip in 50 years of riding.
  21. hard to beat mobil1. i use the 10w-30 automotive, energy conserving in all my bikes, lawn mower, and air compressor, have for years. never had a clutch slippage issue. the belt does slip on my compressor when doing drag starts, but my 200 hp. zx-14 don't seem to care. by the way amsoil buys their pao base stock from exxon mobil. if a gold wing won't slip the clutch in a 100 mile an hour roll on, you don't have nothing to worry about. by the way alot of the drag bikes (brock davidson being one in his busa's and zx-14s) use 5w-30 mobil1 energy conserving to cut friction and gain a few horsepower. bill
  22. now would i do that? seriously just letting you hair down in tough times often helps. would like to see you up here also lewis. i garrantee you'll have a great time. if you and don come here i will personally buy you both a cracker barrel breakfast.
  23. the way i do it is just hit the donation button every few months and give twenty or twenty five dollars. it really is'nt hard to do, and a bargain at the price. there is really nothing complex about this. it's the best website your going to find. the friendship i have on here is well worth the money. i don't tell the world when i donate i just do it. dons the only one that needs to know. i would donate more often but i honestly forget once in awhile, and sometimes i don't have the extra money. if all you can afford is $12.00 a year there's nothing wrong with that. if you want to send extra thats great too. i'm sure don appreciates any help we can give. i still think he works to cheap, so i do my best to help him. it's a no brainer. , bill
  24. don, glad all went well. may as well do some sight seeing while in boston. lots of history in that area. some day i want to ride up in that area and new england. if you want to take a break in the action maybe you could make it down to my meet in may. if you want to drive down you can ride my v-star 1300. i'm sure all the folks who haven't met you yet would enjoy your company. bill
  25. good luck don,and we will be praying that your trip is a total success. bill and linda
