  1. thanks, good suggestions.
  2. i just realized, i break all the real biker rules. i have a very expensive 2007 zx-14 that sits in my work shop most of the time only 1300 miles on it. does it bother me? a little but i love to look at it. i trailer my bike when going any distance with my wife. does it bother me? yes, i hate loading it and unloading it. i hate to ride my new goldwing in the rain cuz it's so pretty when it's clean. does that bother me? not in the least. i ride the heck out of it when it's nice. i have a lowly v-twin v-star 1300 that i ride in the rain and very seldom clean it. does that bother me nope. i love riding it rain or shine. last but not least i ride a majesty girly scooter. for errands, and to work, rain or shine, before that i had a helix. i ride it when ever i don't feel like shifting and to beat the oil companies. i guess that knocks me out of being a real biker what ever that is. although i have rode almost 60,000 miles in the last 2 1/2 years on six different bikes. does that bother me? you bet wish i had the time and the weather to have gone 100,000 miles. what do i have to do to qualify to be a real biker? :rotf:
  3. thanks for the quick responce.
  4. latest update on my trailer and a few questions. got my harbor freight trailer with 12" wheels. narrowed the frame to 18 1/2", and shortened it 3 1/2". i welded the frame together instead of bolting. the frame is at the sandblaster. i bought a neat plastic locking box at lowes and my cooler will go on the front. going to take one leaf out of the springs, and mount the axle on top of the springs to lower it. it should work out great and will look factory made. just ordered a hitch for my v-star 1300. so far i think the whole job less hitch will be about $350.00. now the questions, since i have never pulled a trailer. do i need safety chains? any worry pulling in the rain? will the hitch coupler tilt enough so it won't bind on the side stand or in the curves? what air pressure should i run in the 480 12 tires? any other conditions that i have to worry about. pics will follow when i get it done. bill
  5. la, give me a call when you get a chance. take it easy on that leg. thats what happened to me. had to get rid of my royalstar. it is alot better now. it will take a long time to heal up. just sit alot thats what i did. avoid alot of walking. i got a campsite at vogel, if you want to share. i will ride down with you so we can keep an eye on each other. that way we will stay out of trouble. take care good buddy. bill
  6. one thing i found along time ago about riding in the rain. don't stop. thats when you get wet. the faster you ride the drier you stay.

  10. a gs suzuki is a piece of cake compared to the shim under bucket valve adjustment. although the shim underbucket is the next best thing to hydraulic lifters when it comes to low maintenance.
  11. if any of you can't ride to the 09 rally, cage it. we can use some chase vehicals and there is loads of things to do and see without a bike. not to mention all the good folks that will be there will make you feel better. i garrantee you won't be bored. bill
  12. if anyone sees lowell have him give me a call. or lowell if you read this get ahold of me. i have a campsite at vogel to share with you. bill
  13. thanks don for getting diamond r for the rally. allen and patty are good folks and have some neat products. if any one else knows any vendors that may want to donate a prize or set up a booth, there is no charge and it will be in the airconditioned hall. i would like to have a pin striper there too. any one want tattoos we could probably get a local artist there. for a day. bill:2133:
  14. for a second i thought i was gong to have to come down and check your temperature. bad looking rig.
  15. was'nt to many bikes out this morning i think i was the only nut. i don't mind the rain. i won't leave home in the rain but if i get caught in it i can cope with it. been through hurricane ike and a few tornados so i just figure go with the flow.
  16. darn tom, some people will do anything for attention. :rotf: don't feel bad i just did the same thing. bill
  17. hey good buddy, i got a deal for you. if you make the coffee in the morning at vogel i'll buy the coffee, and bring it with me. i'm trying to travel light. what kind you like. may have lowell with me. we will have a campsite at vogel. bill
  18. well i guess i have to put my 2 cents worth in. when i go somewhere more than a couple of hundred miles and my wife goes with me, i have to trailer my bike. cuz do to her having health problems like four brain anuerysms one of which has 26 coils and another having 13 coils which caused her to have a stroke, she just can't ride that far. i feel lucky that she is still here and able ride with me at all. i have the nickname " trailer boy" given to me by one of the site members that just don't have a clue what we have been through. so i have no problem with people trailering bikes. i will be trailering my bike to the 09 rally. just my 2 cents.
  19. 50% chance of rain today and i rode home from work in all 50% of it. no rain gear. did'nt get to wet. as long as i don't stop to much, i stay dry on my majesty scooter. i hit rain at least once or twice a week.
  20. thank you lewis, i will copy it and get a check in the mail. bill

  24. hey eck don't you look forward to seeing me? i got a campsite reserved. racing to get my trailer done. trying to find a hitch for my v-star. hope to make it. may not register till i get there. wanting to ride down with la and share my campsite with him. if i can locate him. maybe we can meet and ride in together again. i will be arriving wednesday if all goes well. hope to see you soon good buddy and that goes for you too lewis. bill
