  1. i planning on going. i have registered and got a campsite reserved. i have to see what shape i am in after the 09 rally and how hot it is. i probably won't leave st. charles til tuesday, august 11th.. if you go, you will enjoy it. lewis puts on a topnotch meet. i've been there for the last two. bill
  2. jay will know how to get it to my house.
  3. hal, thanks alot. i must have missed something. i'm lucky to remember yesterday.
  4. i need a member to make up a banner for the 09 rally to put at the entrance to the hub so people know where to turn. it has to be about 6'x 30". and i want it to say venture rider.org 2009 rally on both sides with an arrow. black back ground with white letters or vice versa. if some one would like to volunteer for this give me a price. free would be acceptable to. lol. we really need this and it would be much appreciated. pm me. thanks bill bill

  8. way back when i worked at ford and was probably the most pro buy american person that ever existed, every thing i wore had to be made here. i would get in fights over the subject, and actually harass people for buying foreign cars. then the american industries moved alot of manufacturing jobs out of the country and started having alot of parts made in other countries so it was next to impossible to buy american. like i said my ford ranger is a mazda. it's a different world now then it was back then. nafta took it's toll on american industry as i new it would when it went through. another get rich quick scheme like e-85. we made this lousy bed we are in, now we are stuck with it. it's to big to turn back the clock on. so now i buy what i can afford like everyone else does. i hate the way things are but i don't have the power or the fortitude to do anything about it. so like every one else i have to go with the flow. the only thing i have left is my voice and i still say my piece and try to get out what i truly believe in every chance i get, and i will till the day i die. snarley bill :clap2:
  9. moped, notice i said i think they are made here. i left a way out. i thunk wrong. just got back from the honda web site. the plant is shut down. from what i can find out no one knows much. i grabbed onto some heresay in my previous post before i made sure. some say all the 09 wings were made here and stockpiled. seems like speculation on the 2010. the new wing will be a 2011. all of the 2008 wings were made here. sorry about that. bill:2133:
  10. honda is building a new plant in japan and the all new 2011 wing will be built there. i think all the 09 and 2010 wings are being built in ohio. besides if we are so up on bikes being made with american labor ,why are we riding rice burners? i will tell you why i ride them. because there is no american owned manufacturer that builds any thing i would be interested in. i wish they did. harley sold alot of foreign bikes over the years alot of them were made by armachi. harley just bought an italian motorcycle company and will be selling sportbikes in the usa. the v-rod engine was designed by porch. harley uses keihen carbs and injection and showi suspension. i have never owned a foreign car although my ford ranger is a mazda. and i accidently bought my last escort before i found out it was made in mexico. i swore i would never buy a car made in a foreign country.bill
  11. so was my goldwing, built in ohio.
  12. lewis, i use the 7317 on my v-star. fits perfect. it sticks out a little farther, which makes it easier to get a filter wrench on.
  13. maybe it's a big dummy award. i could understand that. congradulations buddy. :clap2:
  14. yep what allan says. we are praying for the best for you. linda and bill
  15. okay folks, we are doing so well on the rally raffle ticket sales we have decided not only to have the trailer as a grand prize, we are also going to give a lap top computor for 2nd and 3rd prizes. that is one fantastic trailer in your choice of colors, and 2 laptop computers. this really increases your odds of winning. i even bought some more tickets. i really need a laptop for traveling. can't wait to see some one win all this neat stuff. we also have the regular drawing with lots of neat donated by vendor and member prizes. the wed. night catered meal and drawing will be a real blast. see you all there. bill :welcome1:ps. raffle ticket sales are still going on. for those thsat want to get in on the great prizes.
  16. i use the st 7317 on my wing it is a little longer than the 6017. if it will fit it has a little more capacity. $2.48 at walmart.
  17. i've pulled alot of trailers in my day, all kinds long ,short, goose necks, horse trailers, utility trailers, flat beds, etc. the v nose will help on a box trailer but the flat back end is where the big drag is. you will have a major amount of drag back there. the main thing is go aluminum and shoot for light weight. the hills are what kill you.
  18. hey joe, why don't you ride down this weekend. i'll buy your dinner at culpeppers. hey i'm serious. bill
  19. in defense of harley, a friend has a softtail heritage classic. he parks it next to my wing at work. he gave over $19,000 for it. i gave $16,750 for my wing. no comparison in value. the wings got it beat hands down for luxury and technology. but the chrome and finish on the harley is impeccable. it has all the asthetic extras as standard equipment. fender tips with lights, inlayed seat. lots of quality chrome, fancy high dollar paint job, etc. all this really adds to the cost. they are well finished beautiful bikes. just a little on the low tech side for the times and the money. the one thing that blows my mind is it has spoked wheels with inner tubes, and a single front disc brake. he asked me what happens if a tire blows out on the highway. i told him you may as well kiss your okole good by, cuz the tire won't stay seated on the rim. been there done that. i recommended he get some good wheels and tubeless tires to be safe. now he's scared to ride it. go figure. oh, it is his first bike and his wife bought it for him as a surprise. he wanted a 1300 v-star.
  20. take a look at the sho taurus engine. it is made by yamaha. it looks almost identical to a v-max engine with two more cylinders. i always wanted to build a street drag bike with that motor. the only thing that stopped me was lack of a new motor and the complex drive train. now i have a four speed tranny and primary drive that we designed and built but no motor. wish you would'nt have reminded me now i'm getting the itch to do it.
  21. squidly is.
  22. i worked with a nut that carried a twenty foot extension ladder on his 75 wing. he put it over his head and then put his helmet on had it going front to rear. he also bought some 8' 2 by 4s, and had the kid at the hardwhere store tie them on to him while he sat on the bike.
  23. the meet is really coming up fast. looks like we may have enough money for the trailer on the big drawing. any one who wants to know what the t-shirts look like and the colors available. go to the registration page. there are pictures of all the colors and the patches. if you want to get in on the trailer drawing you can get your tickets on the registration page. you need not be present to win, but winning will be alot more fun if your there. see you at the hub. bill
  24. i may be wrong but i think each side has a high pressure relief valve. could be a broken spring.
